Power kills. Weakness creates. It creates autonomy, self-awareness and freedom. It creates openness to give and receive in mutuality. And finally it creates the good ground on which new life can come to full development and maturity.

view over city of karlsruhe, germany from turmberg. this timelapse consists of 1189 images and covers an overall time of approx. 5hrs. it was a very windy day and at first glance, the sunset wasn't very promising. i'm glad i didn't abort the capturing, since right before the sun set, the clouds opened and... well...look for yourself.
quality: 1080p, 25 fps
During the snowstorm this weekend the waves were pretty strong. I had to play with the levels to show this wave through the snow and spray. Very exhilerating.
Actually , this looks a lot like the sort of explosion you get when you lob a big chunk of sodium into water, (were you idiotic enough to observe from this distance) The sodium melts into globules...
This was done with relatively safe liquid crystals...
So, Rachel posts this photo where they are making paper clocks for burning. She references an event in Brighton called Burning the Clocks. Evidently it happens on the winter solstice, which was yesterday and looks like quite an event.
I decide to do my own photographic interpretation, but instead of burning, exploding seems like the way to go. I take one of the Christmas ornaments that I bought last year for breaking, but had not been destroyed yet. Then I draw a clock on it, put a firecracker in it, place it in my trusty aquarium, and give it a light. I had hoped to see more of the breaking of the ornament clock, but the firecracker exploding washed out most of it. However, there are a few recognizable pieces in there.
Craig Wilson. This album cover was inspired by the London bombs on 21st July 2005. I would think this suitable for an indie band.
Yet another Bright Afternoon. And within minutes, we could see clouds coming towards us from the West.
Being in the Himalayan side, exposed to direct heat from the sun, surely generates enough rise in the temperature to cause a Low Pressure area to draw some clouds towards it.

Streaks of sun-rays bursting from behind those High clouds, almost always reminds me of the flick Independence Day..
Do you remember the scene when Capt. H. Steven, after smacking the alien in the head, exclaims: Welcome to Earth!

Explosive ordnance and remnants of war destruction (EXPLODE) project was officially launched on June 27, 2013 in Doboj. The 3,837,830 Euro project that will run until 2015 is financed by the European Union and implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the United Nations Development Programme and the OSCE Mission to BiH.
Today, there are over 17,000 tons of military ammunition surpluses in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The risk of uncontrolled explosion of much of this stock is high, which represents a constant danger to civilians living in the proximity of the storage sites and to the soldiers who are guarding them.
I shot this during a very wet and windy day while on holiday in North Uist ... I figured that it would be a good day to try out some dramatic sea shots.

Tales Of Misadventures
In my younger days, I often played Russian roulette with the fuel in my vehicles. Many of them I knew to within about 500 yards how far the fuel would take me. I remember once my dad taking my sister out for a driving lesson. I was laid under a small lorry I owned repairing something when I heard my dad walk up the drive.
Seems he ran out of fuel about 4 mile up the road, there wasn't mobile phones in those days, and he didn't have any money on him for fuel, so he had walked all the way back to get some. Hearing him shout to my mother 'Where is the little bA*&^rd, I am going to kill him. I decided discretion was the better part of valour and stayed where I was.
Redcar Gala
I had booked a shooting gallery into a gala in the North East town of Redcar. This particular gallery was built into a 6 wheeled Foden lorry. At the time it would average about 12mpg, so was fairly thirsty. Anyway, I arrived at Redcar, drove onto the allocated pitch, and it promptly conked out of fuel. Oh well, I would operate, get the day over then worry about refuelling.
As it turned out it was a bit of a poor day, and everything was finished by about 5pm.
My at the time mate Arthur, owned a transit van, I asked to borrow it so I could go and fill a 5 gallon drum up with diesel. This would allow me to then return with the lorry to the fuel station and fill it up.

I think the sauce was either gelatinized naturally or some sort of gelling agent was added to it & it was inserted in the lamb while raw. When cooked the sauce melts and gushes out of the meat when you cut it. This was really good, and seasoned simply. I think it was served with mashed sweet potato but I don't quite remember.
We were warned to be careful when cutting it unless we liked hot juice in the eye. I kind of wanted to see that happen to someone. Sorry.
A close-up look at the center of one of my Gazunias make it seems as if it is exploding. There is some water sitting in the center, too, which adds to the weird effect.
These are terrific plants, almost indestructible, except for the worst heat and humidity of summer. They close up at nite and love to face the sun. You can find them in white, yellows and oranges.
Happy New Year to all my Flickr friends!! My two resolutions are to get out and shoot more and to make a real effort to learn how to really use my editing programs. Oh, and a third - to be more active here!! :-)
