Easter Sunday effigies of relegious and political figures being exploded to the delight of the town of San Miguel

My last portable radio saw a fish that it liked and hopped over the side of the boat after it.

I miss that radio:( I hope it hooked up with that fish.

I do like my music hard and loud. I think this will work. :)

Exploding Head Syndrome is a hardcore punk band from Oslo, Norway. The band hit the rehearsal space for the first time in the summer of 2010, and about a year later released their first recordings; a 7-tracks self-titled EP, which was well received by the norwegian press.

EHS describe their sound as “angry punk” and their lyrics deal with the stress and frustration of todays society. The band is highly influenced by american punk and british hardcore. Exploding Head Syndrome is renowned for their energetic live shows and in the last couple of years the band has toured Norway and has shared stage with bands like Satyricon, Oslo Ess and Blood Command.

On 9. October 2013 the band released their first full-length album Disciples of Reason on their own label Exploding Records. On the record they co-operated with producer Kenneth Ishak (Heyerdahl/Beezwax). The reception of the album has been great, and it has been hailed as the norwegian album of year by some critics.

Yukes is a bloody star, and I got in on the ground-floor and knew her before she was famous! At least that's what I'll be telling people when this albums explodes.

About a year ago my friend Mel texted me and asked if 'you want to do a shoot for a few chickybabe friends of mine, I think you know one of them, they're totally easy going' and it sounded like a good prospect. I did know one of them - Jules Murnane - but I didn't know Yuko at this stage. We all met and had a bit of a chat one night at it seemed like something I'd want to do. We booked in a Sunday a few weeks away at 1300. I shot a gig that Jules and Yuko (J&Y) did on the Friday night and this all went well enough, something I knew how to do. I was still quite nervous about the full day shoot though and didn't quite know what to expect. I don't remember the exact ins and outs of how or why but come time for the shoot, Mel and I were there and deathly and the stars weren't. I'd had a few drinks the night before and then proceeded to stay up and dance til maybe 5, Mel had worked close at Karova so had maybe 5 hours sleep at best. Here was Mel and I lurking around her house half dead and J & Y were nowhere to be seen. Finally we got them on the go about two hours later and after some initial internal gripes about being up earlier than we needed to be, we all had a ball as J&Y regaled us with tales of them wagging school and kissing boys and just being general dorks. My stress about the situation was fading rapidly and by the time Yuko started playing Jules' leg as an air guitar with the most intense rock-god face I've ever seen, I'd long forgotten any situational anxiety.

Over the next couple of weeks we had some more gig shoots and elaborate meals at Frangos and general piss arounds and I was really sad when it all came to an end. If I could get paid to do that kind of stuff all the time I'd never actually be working another day in my life.

Yuko is off in a few days (I think?) to complete her debut album in the States. I've put in a request that she record her version of These Days, she'd better or I'm stealing that Telecaster of hers I've been coveting so.

Simple exploding stars christening cake

There are miles of orchards along Hwy 70 north of Marysville which is where my commute took me this day. Still have 1.5' of snow at home, but it is spring in the valley. I think these are peach trees, but it's just a guess.
