Stormtrooper Bruce got wind Vader was planning random Surprise Inspections, again, at the end of the week. And knowing Vader like he does, he knows what that means. So, once again STB has asked the guys to go in on his plan to mess with Vader. Movie Nights can be SO much fun!

Vader: Well now, if you heard me that would defeat the whole purpose of a Surprise Inspection. And what in the Great Galaxy are you three Gungans up to this time?
STB: Well, as you can clearly see, we're practicing our spells. Proceed class, just swish and flick.

Can you teach someone to make a stunning photograph? I have always thought the answer was yes. You teach them about simplifying the image. To shoot in good light and to understand all light. The guidelines of composition. How form and colors and textures can work with you or against you. How to let your subjects “in” and truly “feel” what your shooting. How the camera “sees” the world differently then the human eye. How to think like an artist, be more creative......and to shoot with passion.
I just returned from the Imaging USA photo expo in San Antonio yesterday, and I had the opportunity to do some shooting on the way down. As I was looking at the photos on my computer last night I was very much aware of the quality of the images compared with my horrible photos from a few years back. It was a battle, but what a difference!! I truly believe that anyone with dedication and an open mind can learn to be a better photographer. I have never heard of anyone who was great when they started out. But through hours of hard work and time behind the lens learning everything they could from every possible source they slowly became master of their art. I would like to start spending more time sharing knowledge and tips on flickr and my new blog (link coming soon) that I have learned and continue to learn to help with that long process. These images inspired me to begin that journey. No, they are not my best images. They won't stun the world with their beauty, and power. Yet they are strong images despite the fact that they were not taken in the most incredible places on earth. They are strong because of light, form, composition, texture, story, perspective, scale, and in the case of the bottom image, an amazing sunrise and breaking every “rule” in the book. I believe they encompass the ideas I mentioned above and many more. The BW's where taken with a LEE Big Stopper near Corpus Christi (South Texas). The windmill shots and the sunrise shot were taken about an hour from where I live in Southeast Colorado. (I stopped for a few minutes while it was still dark to see what would happen if I took a long exposure and used my Nikon Speedlight {flash} to light the moving blade {thrid image in comments.} As the sun came up I got a pretty good light show behind me {bottom image} and the light from the sunrise was reflecting off the clouds and lighting the windmills {second image in comments} to create that amazing pink glow).
I will be spending time in coming posts explaining in depth the ideas I mentioned above, as well as more concepts and techniques to take better photographs. I have a six month photo trip starting in March to SE Asia, however I will still be posting and active on flickr. (I was recently offered a major book deal, so if I choose to accept it, I may not have as much time, but I will still post as much as possible. {why would you even consider turning down a book deal from a major publisher? Deadlines, deadlines, deadlines. Not something you want to live by when your trying to create a powerful image in Tibet;})

While on a family birthday visit in Aarhus, Denmark we went on a couple of walks in the city - February 29, 2020.

There are many kinds of photographic gadgets to help you in your picture taking. I just use these because they're in my photography budget ;-) and because I'm most comfortable with them.
Anypose Expression Hud is FREE - I use it to control eye direction. marketplace.secondlife.com/p/AnyPose-Expression/2613652
Animare is a tool that allows you to pose your avatar using a HUD controller. I use it to refine poses on the fly. I prefer to use external programs to make actual poses but this gadget is great for fine tuning them to fit better or even give poses you already have, some subtle differences and finishes.

Oracul make some great static poses that come in a modifiable HUD that rezzes poseballs as well as animates your avatar. <- Modifiable means that you can add other animations to this hud too and are not just limited to Oracul Animations.

Let me explain the symbology behind this picture:
I know that right now it seems that the whole USA is focusing mainly on the 2008 elections, but I care more about the political situations around the world, particularly Venezuela, since that's where my mom is from and that's where some of my family lives.
Ever since Chavez was elected president, I feel like the whole Venezuelan government/political situation is broken, or ruined like this mug. Sure, you can still use the mug, but it's broken..
I was raised to be seriously Anti-Chavista (against Chavez, Venezuela's president, and his whole administration,) and I know he's always been a horrible president (well, really more like dictator) but I was really shocked when I heard he was assisting FARC. I know FARC is a funny name, but there's nothing funny about them. FARC is a Colombian extremist group who kidnapped hundreds random people and held them hostage for years (most of them still haven't escaped). On top of that, they kidnap children from the Venezuela/Colombia border and turn them into child soldiers. This has been an ongoing problem in both Venezuela and Colombia for years, and Chavez has publicly spoken about how we need to stop them, and supposedly taken some action about it. but it turns out that he was SUPPLYING THEM WITH WEAPONS.
how could ANYONE be supportive of a group that makes children into CHILD SOLDIERS!? how could a LEADER OF A COUNTRY even do that!? and the worst part is, that he LIED to the whole world about it, and he's not even getting impeached or anything! How is it that Bill Clinton gets impeached for having an affair, but Chavez doesn't get impeached for supplying FARC with all the supplies they need to do what Chavez is trying to stop them from doing!?
But of course, Chavez is a known liar, because he promised during his presidential campaign in 1998 that he would change his name if there were still homeless children on the street by the time he was done with his term, and he hasn't done ANYTHING about it, and he's been in power for almost 10 years! (and, by the way, the length of a presidential term in Venezuela is 4 or 5 years (I can't quite remember), but of course, he changed the constitution so that he could be in power for even longer!)
the whole situation pisses me off to no end.
and that is why I took this picture.
Well - I just met M. Duane Rollo Renaud for coffee at the famous Yreka Bakery, right on the harbourfront here in Monte Carlo. It was quite a revealing encounter!
Before the meeting, I was instructed by another intermediary - none other than Pancho Biddlecome - that there would be a call and response style password, to make absolutely sure that I was the real Lady Rebecca Lyndon - as M. Renaud had never met me before. The two-part password went like this:
M. Renaud: "Girl, bathing on Bikini, eyeing boy, finds boy eyeing bikini on bathing girl."

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。

This is the only female I've spotted for this species this entire spring although I've monitored our bird oasis for four weekends. I have spotted males of this species every weekend. I can't explain the paucity of females... they must be busy doing other things... but they still have to eat and drink. We are living through unprecedented times of collective suffering; this is a line in the sand where events after the crease will have little resemblance to those before. The streets outside are in turmoil from old human follies and new viral adversaries. Trying to explain these soul-stirring days to myself has been excruciatingly hard. Harder has it been to explain them to my ten-year-old –– and here I was, comically worried about the big sex-ed talk I would need to have with him someday! The world is boiling like the primitive cosmos where the darkness remains unpunctuated; it appears as if there are no beacons in sight.
So, where does one find solace during such malevolent turbulence? Gretel Ehrlich says (in her renowned book), one could find it in open spaces. Well, if one knows where to look, there are plenty of open spaces in a park near us – Yosemite. As you may know, Yosemite is a mental health asylum of some world-class repute. Since obscure times, it has cured numerous suffering souls, including a few luminaries who were primarily lunatics: Charles Weed, John Muir, Ansel Adams, and Fred Olmsted to name a few. It is located geographically in California's heart and spiritually in hearts of million other human beings who could be taxonomized as naturalists, activists, artists, environmentalists, visionaries, or, plain ordinary people, like, yours truly. When I am in Yosemite – or, find Yosemite in me – I perceive peace. You could say, Yosemite's wilderness is my totem of solitude, solace, and hope.
To most, Yosemite’s totem is the Half Dome – a giant granite monolith that stands in congruent humility with its surrounding rocks and clouds. It is unique among all Yosemite domes in having a sheer cliff and a steep vertical face (northwest side), which actually displays a human face in blockprint (a story for another day). Glaciers, time, and light have ebbed and flowed over the humpbacked dome for millions of years, but ‘Tis-sa-ack’ stands proud in deft defiance. The oft-pictured image of Half Dome – the one with the helmet curve, as Ansel put it – is from the West (Glacier point area). From our vantage point the other day, the iconic steward of the park displayed its unglamorous hind side, which features a prominent hump, the eastern sub-dome. In his National Geographic article, William Least Heat-Moon described this view of Half Dome as, “… watching a Shakespearean play from backstage, where old and familiar lines seem different, strange, new”.
Our contemporary times are somewhat similar... old and familiar ways of life now appear ‘different, strange, new’. In his letter to Ansel Adams in 1953, art historian Beaumont Newhall wrote, “In the face of all the present turmoil and unrest and unhappiness… what can a photographer, a writer, a curator do? …To make people aware of the eternal things, or show the relationship of man to nature… is a task that no one should consider insignificant… These are days when eloquent statements are needed”.
Eloquence is not my thing, but here above, you have my statement against everything that attempts to stir darkness in our societies, lives, minds, and hearts.
PS: The title is borrowed from Sylvia Plath’s sonnet Ennui, which was written in 1950s and published in 2006:
“The beast in Jamesian grove will never jump,
compelling hero’s dull career to crisis;
and when insouciant angels play God’s trump,
while bored arena crowds for once look eager,
hoping toward havoc, neither pleas nor prizes
shall coax from doom’s blank door lady or tiger.”

Adrienne dug through her backpack. “I have a sweatshirt. My jeans are torn and stained—but they’ll do.
K’hall nodded. “It will suffice. We will remedy the problem once we dock.”
K’hall’s orb docked first. Two escorts waited, rigid and silent, ready to sweep K'hall away to the council chamber the instant the vessel was secured.
The supreme council of twelve had perished on Axiom5. In their absence, Taska5’s second tier council had ascended—now the ruling authority of the fleet in sector.
Bext emerged from the orb, striding to Adrienne and Kayla as they watched K’hall vanish down the walkway with his escorts. “The council demands a full account. They are displeased. They claim the nest’s destruction—and the explosion—was reckless and occurred after their elevation to authority. They insist it required their sanction.”
Inside the council chamber, an escort announced: “Commander K’hall, as requested.”
The chairman commanded, “Enter!” He leaned forward, eyes sharp, “Commander K’hall, be seated. The council requires a complete account of your mission—and the events that followed.”
K’hall spoke with measured precision. He recounted the assaults on the reptilian bases, the loss of Ramva19. Sensor images shimmered across the council’s screen.
Murmurs rippled through the council.
The chairman’s gavel cracked. “What authority gave you permission to detonate the thermal plasmaclysmic event that followed?”
K’hall’s gaze did not waver. “Axiom5 council saw the chance to end the lizards forever, The council made it a top priority to locate the nest. ... so much so that they agreed—with human aid.”
The chamber erupted. The gravel thundered. “How could this council be ignorant of such a decree? AND humans? Impossible! No council would sanction human involvement."
“Perhaps there was no time,” K’hall pressed. “The attack on Axiom5 began mid-session.” His voice hardened. “These humans provided critical intelligence on the lizard reproductive cycle that we did not have.”
The uproar surged from the council. The chairman hammered the gavel. “ORDER! Continue, Commander explain how this is so.”
“These humans are Ikons. One comes from the distant past,” K’hall said. “She was sent to destroy their egg nest. The two humans aided us in locating and breaching the underground chambers. Probe data confirms—the egg nest and all surrounding it has been completely destroyed. The lizards are doomed.”
The chairman’s gaze swept the chamber. “I for one cannot forget our troubled history with the Ikons. I do not trust them. Yet if the lizard cycle is truly broken, this may be our greatest triumph—perhaps even peace.”
His tone darkened. “But the explosion was vast. Its shock has rippled through all dimensions. Sensors report tectonic upheaval on Earth itself. Many demand accountability. We must deliberate this at higher council once we reach Sigma base.”

quietly.

I face myself to change tomorrow, a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left, I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left, how many times did I depend too much on her, doubt her, envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However, I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me, a guy filled with ambiguous, unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.
Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。
十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

I love the rain.
It brings an element of serenity to my psyche that is really difficult to explain.
I feel at peace when the drops are coming down. I love getting wet. I just want to splash in puddles and get soaked. I want to stick my tongue out and capture as many drops as possible.
I really think rain and storms and clouds bring out the artist in oneself. I’ve discovered perfect days with sun and blue skies are just boring. And people who are raised and brought up in places that have nothing but perfect weather typically are a bore.
Of course there are exceptions. I don’t want to offend any of you assholes living in Hawaii that just got a hard-on when I said that.
Seriously. Stormy weather like this just makes me want to go out and run around and take pictures and write and scream and hide and yell and smile and play.
Then go inside later and snuggle by a fireplace and read. Of course I don’t have a fireplace nor do I ever read. But I wish I had and did both.
The shot at hand? Well I got off of work early on this particular day. It was raining HARD. I couldn’t wait to go out and snap my 365 shot in this massive storm. I hiked down this trail as seen. My tripod had to be anchored down with my camera bag so I could take this shot so it didn’t fall over. I don’t know if you can tell, but the wind was PRACTICALLY knocking me over. Check out my shoes. I struggled to keep myself up!

Thonburi district in Bangkok unveiled its new landmark, an imposing statue of the Buddha that rises 69 metres above the ground -- about the height of a 20-storey building.
The statue, called ‘Dhammakaya Thep Mongkol Buddha’ at Paknam Bhasicharoen Temple, is made of copper, and corresponds with the image the former abbot saw in his dream.

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。
十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。

There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.
One, to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.
The other, to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days, staring at the shine
quietly.
Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.
I face myself to change tomorrow, a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left, I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left, how many times did I depend too much on her, doubt her, envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However, I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me, a guy filled with ambiguous, unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.
Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

I met Charles as he was pushing a shopping cart full of scrap metal, aluminum cans and other detritus up a very steep side street. It was about 5:30 in the morning and he was shrouded in a flannel comforter for warmth. I approached him and he immediately started to weep, explaining that he "just wanted to make his way in this world." He had been chased out of one of his sleeping places (behind a dumpster) by security a few hours before, and he was beyond hungry and cold.
When I offered him some money for food, and asked him if he'd come with me a few blocks away to get some breakfast, he quietly declined, telling me he didn't want to be a bother. I insisted he take some money and eat, and eventually, he accepted. What will happen when the really cold weather comes? What will become of the growing numbers of people who live on the streets?
To live in poverty without knowing where you'll sleep, or go to the bathroom, or get medical care or even be treated with a shred of dignity, is a humiliating, gut-wrenching experience. These are not criminals, these are our brothers and sisters, most of whom suffer from severe mental health problems that are completely untreated.
As he left me behind, pushing his mound of scrap up the road, he thanked and blessed me, wished me a "wonderful day".
I stood in the street and watched him struggle up the street and disappear, another ghost lost in the city. I cannot stop thinking of him.
I've always been amused when British photographers feel the need to explain themselves after capturing a nice shot from a layby, known in America as a scenic overlook. Yet I was feeling a twinge of guilt myself as I took this one in the Canyonlands near Moab, Utah. Not only did I not leave the parking lot, I didn't even leave the shadow of the car. But I had my reasons, I can assure you. First, we had already used up the magic light back at the famous Mesa Arch, and the canyon in the distance was badly washed out with glare. And the bland blue sky needed something in the foreground to offset it, so I used the parking lot fence that they had made of deadwood. Besides, I was tired and badly in need of coffee, having been too wound up the night before to sleep well. Hmmm ... too much explaining. I should have just said I hiked three miles in country to bag this shot, with no water. Captured on Jeff Clow's Dirt Cheap Photo Tour.
I always find it difficult to explain to people what type of pictures I like to capture. It always comes up, especially on this trip, since I run into so many people that are also on the road. They always want to know what I'm doing while traveling, since after a while of traveling, usually you're not ONLY traveling. So people ask what I'm doing, I say I like to take photos, and then it's always, oooh, what kind of photos?
Once upon a time I would say something boring like 'fine art photos', but I started to ask myself, what exactly is fine art? And who is saying it's fine? Do I really need to add a modifier to the type of art that I'm making? What's the difference between art and fine art? I'm now of the opinion that saying 'fine art' is as silly as saying that I print my images via giclée (which at best means to squirt in French and usually refers to something that makes French people blush and/or giggle).
So now I say that I like to take art photos, since that helps people understand it's not for the purpose of capturing a moment for posterity, or to sell a product, or make someone look a certain way. Art still seems in some ways pretentious, but maybe that's just my own perspective on it, even though I do have a degree in art photography (fine art photography, at that).
Just makes me happy that wherever I go, I have my iPhone or iPad with me where I can just show my photos when people ask, it's so much easier to show a series of photos than to explain them. I mean, what would I say about this latest series, that I take pictures of rocks in the water? I've tried that and usually it elicits a raised eyebrow at the most. Once you show someone, most of the time they get it. I guess I could say this series is about island portraits, but that sounds as ridiculous as 99% of artist statements that are hung at coffee shops.

Okay so now for the MOC. This is the Consolidated PBY used by the United States Navy in World War Two. It has folding landing gear and has the potential to hold a mini figure (though there are no furnishings within this beast quite yet.) It is, of course, an amphibious craft capable of landing in both land and water. Hope you guys like it!

Ever heard the expression **All dressed up and nowhere to go?
Well that didn't happen here because we always find somewhere to go when we feel like a nice dressy night out and in this case it was The Bahama Breeze Restaurant.
Not the ritziest spot you can imagine for yourself whilst dressing up a bit higher than the norm but the food is always nicely prepared and a decent price too and the kicker is... When you are wearing a long dark blue lace evening dress, not to mention some great underwear then everywhere you go feels like you were in Monte Carlo.

We're not going to explain in full what a 'County Palatine' is, or was; suffice it to say that firstly, you can search the term online; and secondly, Lancashire and Cheshire are rightly proud to decsribe themselves as Counties Palatine.
This photo was taken in the seat of Cheshire, in Chester - to be precise, at the City's Borough Transport depot. And the orange and brown visitor was a Scania with coachwork made by the Northern Counties Motor & Engineering Company Limited, often just termed 'Northern Counties'.
The occasion appears to be an open day, with a brand-new Greater Manchester Transport bus visiting from Leigh garage. There were just two Scanias of this type, and they were liked by crews for being very fast. They eventually ended up after deregulation with Stagecoach Manchester, and at the time of writing 1461 survives in private preservation.
Chester City Transport wasn't so lucky; like many small municipal operators, it was a minnow in a post-deregulation pool, and it finally succumbed to intense competition in 2007. The depot here has now been demolished and flats built in its place.
