As simple as this piece is it means a lot to me. I'll explain why...
For the past year I've been extremely ill. I had a mystery diagnosis. No doctor knew what was wrong. Everything in my body was slowing down. I couldn't read, I couldn't draw, and I could barely stay awake.
I almost died.
Then, one day, I realized something: I am too stubborn to just lay down and die. Thankfully, my dad had done very complete research on what could this mystery diagnosis could be.
Turns out it is Secondary Adrenal Insufficiency. Yeah, it's a mouthful, but within a week of medication (tiny doses of steroids), I felt MUCH better. Now I can read again, cook, draw, and much more. I thank Jehovah for all the blessings he's given me. That's why I am pleased with this doodle, because I feel like a new me. :)
I hope to visit Patterson sometime in the summer...when I'm stronger physically.
Polaroid pinholes can be lots of fun, and I usually get lots of questions from passersby. I don't mind explaining the camera and process, actually I'm quite proud of Pharaoh.
This is also probably my first and last pack of 665. I really wish I had stumbled across it sooner. If you're wondering, this is the print, the neg is drying right now, and I'll post to compare if you wish.
This was a 90 second exposure about 15 minutes before sunset.
Nic was telling me how throwing rocks at the steel shed was really a ploy to get the cat to come to him.
The next game: find a person who's your "moon" and someone else who's your "sun". At all times, the moon has to stay between you and the sun.
I intensely disliked this book, so I decided to use Gossip Girl to help explain it. :)

Bowditch Alphabet Date:

Artist:
Danh Vo
Danish, born Vietnam 1978
Danh Vo explained, "all of my projects tend to deal with issues that are taking place right around me - my private sphere, my love life, my desires, other people's projections on me and my identities." When he was a child, Vo's family left Vietnam in a boat built by his father. By chance, they were picked up by a Danish freighter and brought to Denmark, where they became citizens. Through performance based works inspired by his life experiences and historically rich ready made objects, Vo reveals the construction of inherited cultural values, conflicts and displacement.
For Bowditch Alphabet, Vo called letters of the worldwide naval code system with contrasting ethnographic materials. When constructing the 25 naval time zones in the early 1800's, American mathematician Nathaniel Bowditch decided to skip the letterJ, as it is the most difficult to pronounce in multiple languages. Bowditch's navigation system, created with the Latin alphabet, became a shipping industry standard that advanced global trade and the potential for colonization. Vo's cardboard came from unfolded boxes for condensed milk, a foreign product that was likely introduced to Thai and Vietnamese consumer culture through wartime care packages. The artist applied gold leaf to the packaging in the traditional style of gilded Asian temples in order to contrast the cultural and monetary values of each.
Another friend, Pascal, has just arrived, and comes to listen to the discussion and my explanation of the problem. Also franco-american, he talks about the issue of armed domestic violence in the US where guns in general are a huge problem. Neither of my two friends have ever thought of armed domestic violence as an issue before, but they quickly become interested.
