Learning to Leap's David Schindler presents the 'Most Improved' Award to Sam Orris and Kieran McClean. He said: "Both Sam and Kieran visibly grew in confidence during their placement with me. They stepped out of their comfort zones and stretched themselves by doing things they had never done before. For example, through public speaking to large groups of students (over 700 in total) and facilitating numerous group sessions for up to 25 students at a time during a series of six one day conferences to prepare first year students for work placements. Sam also starred in a couple of videos we recorded for the events. Kieran enhanced his camera skills and editing techniques by filming me for a current project to create an online course. Both exceeded my expectations and I particularly appreciated their pragmatism and ideas. Sam’s and Kieran’s enthusiasm and commitment is reflected in their desire to continue working with me beyond the placement until the project is completed."

It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade. ~Charles Dickens, Great Expectations
