Today was lame. I went on a tour/informational tour of my college i'm attending next fall. I hung with Bash most of the day. I'm hungry and i have a stomach ache, i need more chocolate ice cream. I will watch Fantastic Mr. Fox with undone homework and a new heated blanket. Today...was lame.

I was walking through Royal Troon Golf Course this afternoon when I stopped as two golfers were just about to tee off! There's nothing worse than someone walking by you when you are about to play!
One of the golfers hit what appeared to be a very, very good tee shot and after they both tee off I continued with my walk. When I got close to the green I couldn't help but turn around and give a thumb's up to the player who landed this close to the hole.
When he arrived at the green and realised he was this close I could see and feel the frustration he had ... a few inches from achieving a hole in one!! 👏

Great Expectations is one of my favorite books and upon rereading it recently, I was inspired by the very unique character of Miss Havisham. She is a wealthy, mysterious woman who invites the main character Pip to her mansion to play with her daughter. When Pip meets her, she is sitting amongst rotting wedding decorations, including a cake covered in cobwebs and spiders. He later learns that she was stood up before her wedding many years ago. Nothing in the room has moved since, symbolic of Miss Havisham's inability to move on after her heart was broken. This cake shows the transformation of her wedding cake over time, from an elegant white cake to a yellow, moldy, decaying one. Each side has different flavors to further reflect the transformation - on the left is a light lemon and lavender cake and on the right is a dark chocolate and espresso cake.
Never in my life have I seen so many people awake at 4.30am in the morning. As the masses descend for sunrise at the Angkor Wat, a hush envelopes the complex before a flurry of artificial shutter noises, and for the uneducated, a sporadic flash. Turning my camera towards the crowd, it was days before I realised I caught this shot. It captures exactly how people were feeling, stripping away the romanticism of the main attraction, and adding the reality of dragging yourself out of bed at 4am to share a moment with 5000+ strangers.

On the weekend of November 20-21, 2010, I was invited to photograph the new Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas prior to their opening December 15, 2010 in Las Vegas NV.
This set of images represents my efforts that weekend to showcase this newest resort property opening up on the Las Vegas Strip. Thanks to David Scherer from The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas for showing me around, to Miiko Mentz at Katalyst Films for helping to arrange the shoot, and to my wife for modeling for me.

Moments before @trokerofficial came to scene in one of their farewell concerts in Mexico City previous to their trip to UK's Glastonbury festival.
Picture taken just today, half an hour ago, and exactly a week after the first of these three documentary shots. The plant is doing well, and I hope it will grow further and survive even as a potted specimen.
I know I should have probably named this photo something a little deeper like "reflections" but everytime I look at it I can't help but think about the opening credits to that old MadTV dating skit. But please, don't let that distract you from the subtle power and depth of this image :)
OK, it's a terrible title but I really couldn't think of anything else! One of the first 1/76 models in my collection, purchased circa 1996, was this EFE Bedford TK in the livery of the Bloxwich Lock & Stamping Co but with local interest added by its load of Vauxhall car parts. It is seen here possibly somewhere near the Luton factory followed by a United Counties Lodekka on a works service and overtaken by a Viva, probably a company car.

Naval 'might' from the world's Navies gathered in The Solent to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar.
Carriers in the frame are (port to starboard) - 'R-05' the Royal Navy's HMS Invincible, the US Navy 'LHA-2' USS Saipan and the French Navy's FS 'R91' Charles de Gaulle with her Rafales, Etendards and Hawkeyes aboard.
When you look at that beautiful sailing ship off to starboard, it's a shame Nelson's Flagship, The Victory couldn't have sailed out to join them all! - but maybe that French Submarine was stationed there.... just in case!

Seeing the color change in a few leaves remind me of how my life situations quickly change. When all seems to be too much of a burden to carry, I know that this season is almost complete and that soon heaven will be my home,
I rented my current apartment hastily. The location is right, the size is right, the landlord offered me a spot in the garage for my motorcycle. Thank you craigslist, I'll take it. Across the street was an eyesore of a building, a three-story deserted, boarded up mess. I barely paid attention to the view above that building, but over the months I have come to love the mountain and especially the cross, which I feel protects this household from evil spirits and unwanted pregnancy.
They tore down that building across the street, and started rebuilding it. A few weeks ago I realized, in one of those moments where your heart just sinks, that in its place will be a four-story building, and out my window I will see nothing more exciting than the occasional bedroom view, when one of my neighbors forgets to lower the blinds. Since then, as the new building comes up, my days under the spell of the cross have taken on increasing meaning. Yesterday they built the ceiling on the third floor, and out my window this evening the fourth floor is almost finished. They built the two sides of the floor, and, in a thoughtful gesture, have left the middle unbuilt, as if to say, this is your last evening, enjoy.
This is one of so many examples of the importance of stimulus vs. context. I would have moved into this apartment if there were no view; for example if there were a four-story building across the street from me before, and they tore it down and replaced it with another four-story building, I would have enjoyed my view during the construction but would not be bothered by the loss of the view when the fourth story was rebuilt. In this case, I have come to understand my apartment as one with a view of the mountain and the cross, and I earnestly feel wronged by its obliteration. Hurt, even.
When you recognize that most of how you respond to something is contingent not on the thing itself but on your expectations of that thing, you can conduct yourself in such a way that you're more likely to be pleasantly surprised and will enjoy many more good moods-I call this managing expectations. I go about this by minimizing exposure to preconceptual bias as much as possible. For example, once I decide I'm going to see a movie I will actively avoid talking about it, reading its reviews, I even try to steer clear of the trailer. When I'm being set up on a blind date, I don't want to know what you think of her, just give me her number and I'll arrange it. Expectations are the enemy of a good time.
