Halloween season is upon us and all things supernatural creepy and spooky is on most of our minds.

So I was wondering do you believe in Ghosts??

Ok I know we are mostly a bunch of level headed people but even some the most scientifically minded of us humans have a belief in the supernatural.

So have you seen a ghost or experienced odd things happening? have the hairs on the back of your neck stood on end for no reason?

I suppose I have to respond as well.

I do think I have seen at least a shadow on our landing and things have moved without any of us moving them or so the family say.

this one will get you going. one night no so long ago when the girls were away for the weekend I was awoken by a tugging of the covers looking down expecting to see the dog I was little worried when she turned out to be asleep in the other room.

Ok yeah it could have been a vivid dream, the shadow could have just been a shadow and the objects not were we left them could just be us being forgetful .

What should I wear for so some Halloween photos

Expect to have hope rekindled. Expect your prayers to be answered in wondrous ways. The dry seasons in life do not last. The spring rains will come again.

I'd like to dedicate this to a lady photographer from Uzbekistan, Umida Akhmedova, who was found guilty of "damaging the spiritual values" of Uzbekistan and "slandering the nation". All because of pictures she took that, for me, are of a life rich in traditions that we all can learn from.

For us who live in places where artistic freedom is taken for granted, let us be thankful for this privilege and always remember that with this freedom comes responsibility.

Tynemouth, as might be expected, is a town at the mouth of the River Tyne, a few miles from Newcastle. Historically part of Northumberland, the modern town of Tynemouth includes North Shields and Cullercoats. We came back home this way in September following a short holiday in south-east Scotland.

The history of Tynemouth dates back to an Iron Age settlement and its strategic position on a headland over-looking the mouth of the Tyne. The heart of the town - seen here - is known by residents as "The village" and has popular coffee-shops, pubs and restaurants. It is a prosperous area with comparatively expensive housing stock, ranging from Georgian terraces and Victorian ship-owners' houses to 1960s "executive homes".

The interior corridors of the Prince of Wales Hotel in Niagara on the Lake is exactly what you would expect a grand old hotel to be. It takes you back in time (but there's also a good wifi signal)

this one started as a Parka Coat but became more abstracted & I added an abstract head....this was mirrored & framed.....decided to add water droplets which also reflect parts of the image......didn't realize this included the boarder.....remind me of early flying aces...."tallyho old chap...what what"

thanks for looking.....best bigger....hope you have a great day

added to Mel's "Vivid Mirror Challenge"....VIVID IMAGINATION

Friday night...another week done...accomplishments and failings fading quickly...much like the Sun outside...ready for nothing...I looked out the back window...there were three deer casually grazing in the back yard...two Canada Geese hung out nearby...the Purple Martins were on the house...could this be Eden or just a Dream...the kisses eluded me...I never seem to wake up.

Sunset - and the long expected rain

I spotted this amazing looking flower called Fiddleneck beside a field of White Mustard when the stand out shape and colours caught my eye, I wanted to shoot it there and then but it was just too windy , so I picked it and brought it home where it stands in water waiting for Jane to try to cultivate it. Since I took this image it has totally changed, got bigger and sprouted another two heads so expect an update on it soon.

May the fourth be with you.

Wasn't expecting the first hoverfly of 2016 quite yet, and certainly not this species. I've never seen one before May before, so finding this in the kitchen today was really unexpected. Presumably it had been developing in the amaryllis bulb on the kitchen window-sill (it was outside in the summer), and a combination of central-heating and an unusual sunny windowsill had coaxed it out early. I feel guilty now....

We can regularly expect to see two of our four US Sapsuckers up here. The other one that is regular (if not common) is the Williamson's. The Red-breasted is primarily a West Coast bird, and the Yellow-bellied is mainly an Eastern bird... although vagrants may show up anywhere in North America. Our constructed bird oasis draws in nearly all of the avian population to be found in this area. This gal has stopped at our avian oasis for a drink and has conveniently parked on one of my photo props. The white under her chin indicates her sex. I also believe her to be a first-year bird.

Hardly what I expected; all I can liken it to is running to the Christmas tree to open your presents and having someone set them on fire. Thankfully, I have what matters - family, friends, and the opportunity to try harder, strive for more, and do better.

This took much longer to edit than expected. The colors did not want to cooperate. I was tempted to take it over to Photoshop but fought the temptation. I am beginning to use Lightroom on the majority of my productions to keep things as organic as possible and frankly, I prefer the concentrated focus on production rather than manipulation.

That's one of the small changes I'm making with my photography. But outside of that, lately I have been thinking about how much we change in a life time, and also how much we stay the same despite the changes, the damage dealt, the successes, the failures...

Do we change, or do we just change the way we express the same thing?

This is Dry Falls near Highlands here in North Carolina. Its name comes from the fact that you can walk behind the falls, from where I took this image, without getting wet... or too wet, as it's still drippy back there.

Dry Falls was affected by the drought throughout this region since July. While not exactly dry, it was a bit shocking to see the water volume down so much here… but it did make this image perhaps more interesting. When the water is up as expected here, that curtain usually stretches across to the rock on the near right. What I find interesting here is how the water takes shape as it finds paths of the least resistance along the rock and moves its way down steep Cullasaja Gorge.

There’s struggle involved in resistance, yet beauty can still be found there... something to be said for that in our own lives.

This image took some foresight into the final image… I shot it a little wider than necessary, with the camera pointed down to keep the sky out and show more rock below. It was perspective-corrected with DxO OpticsPro so it would appear much as the eye see it, before sending it on to ACR. While the sky is out of the composition, the reflected blue is a bonus here.

Travel (should) bring the unexpected to your senses, your perspectives and everything you know about life and what you know. Sometimes travel experiences and the people you meet along the way can turn your world upside down.

You might see a sacrifice at a Bali Temple or during Eid al-Adha in Muslim countries. It's also possible to be invited to dinner in someone's home and be served unidentifiable treats. There is also a possibility you'll be in a place with no running water or indoor plumbing; perhaps there is no toilet in the restroom. Your mind might be challenged well beyond what you consider "normal."

All of the above and more have happened while I've travelled around the world. In the western world, it's doubtful you'll experience anything but what you are accustomed to at home. When you step into developing countries, be ready for almost anything.

Travel with me will always lead you to expect the unexpected. I love change, challenging what I know, testing my limits and being amongst the unfamiliar. The parts I love about travel are often uncomfortable for others. Go with the flow, whatever happens, happens. There is a general timetable yet no strict itinerary or agenda.

Experience. Simply experience where you are and who you're with. Love every bit of life while you are doing whatever it is you're doing. Scare yourself and learn you are braver than you ever thought you could be.

This is my latest LEGO Art commission. It ships out today to beautiful Sunny from California.

Avid followers probably recognise it. I had made a Bat Music Box a while back, and that's exactly what Sunny asked for. The original though had been broken down, and there were a few changes needed as well.

This version is a lot more solid, and it includes a much larger area to store jewelry in the top.

It is also a fully functional Music Box. You can turn the handle at the side and it will play music whilst the figure spins. The mechanism that allows that got a big upgrade. It's important the mechanism only spins one way. because if you spun the handle the wrong way it could damage the music box inside. Instead of limiting how you can turn the handle, the current version instead lets you turn the handle either way, but always results in the mechanism inside turning the same way. Yeah, it was a pretty cool technical challenge, and I'll share the specifics in a video soon.

Thanks again to Sunny for the support, and you can expect to see this arrive in the mail very soon.

This little mother to be had just finished eating a stray peanut she'd found, and sat there like she was waiting for someone to bring the goodie bowl to her, which was really not all that far away.

This is one of those shot's that came out much better than expected, not sure why I like it but I sure do :-)

A Flickr friend, (flic.kr/ps/35AJRL) had suggested a photography theme of Covid 19 isolation shots from around the house. I hadn't been very inspired to follow up on this until coming across a technique to experiment with different focal planes, which was what I did here. The flower is my wife's lovingly tended Orchid positioned in our front window. Just as I tripped the shutter, a car drove by. It was great fun to expect the unexpected and I'm going to keep playing with it for a while.

♫ Nothings ever what we expect

But they keep asking where I go next

Oh,were chasing the sunset

Go mind on you

It doesn't matter where were on,on,on

It doesn't matter where were on, on ,on

It doesn't matter, no

If theres a moment when it's perfect

It will cover me as the sun goes down

As the sun goes down

As the sun goes down

As the sun goes down

It doesn't matter where were on,on,on

It doesn't matter where were on, on ,on

It doesn't matter, no ♫

Canadian Pacific 2816, "The Empress" is seen on a reverse move back to CP's Nahant Yard after spending the day at the Railroading Heritage of Midwest America in Silvis, IL, to celebrate the return to operation of Union Pacific "Centennial" 6936. 2816 is seen passing the iconic Williams White & Co. factory, which has been the backdrop for many a famous photo in the Quad Cities area. I expected this area to be swarming with people, but in the end, there were just 2 of us. Instead of battling other railfans, the only thing we had to battle was tall grass.

I expect to pass through this world but once; any good thing therefore that

I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do

it now; let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.

[This piece embodies the vast majority of the emotions I've been going through since it happened. Sitting bereft, empty, and shriveled in a dank abysmal room--and yet, just above me, smoky wisps of light. And even when I won't admit they're there--even when I choose not to lift my head to see--I can't deny knowing those wisps are pouring in, just waiting to wash over me. I thought I knew what death was like. How I felt about it. I thought I'd experienced most every emotion there was to experience. I was wrong. So incredibly wrong. I know now. Or at least I know much more acutely as opposed to two months and two and a half weeks ago.

The absolutely wonderful model pictured is my amazing friend Sarah Ann Loreth. I was absolutely thrilled to finally meet her. Ecstatic, even. She is exactly as she comes across online--gentle, kind, loving, witty, and empathic. I feel beyond blessed to have had the opportunity to host a Flickr meetup, allowing me the chance to get to know her as well as so many other beautiful people.]
