I went to England to see scenes like this, I wasn't disappointed, I saw them a couple of times a day. Just a great country.
Terrific.
Cheers.
You can sometimes expect a nice specimen, when you feed the birds in winter.
You do me a big pleasure when you click to ENLARGE. It's also more pleasure for you. (I hope so)

Here's a shot from our stop in Agadir, Morocco. We went up to a scenic lookout expecting to take pictures of the city and shoreline below - - but instead - I spotted this Crested Lark making its way towards me. I quickly changed over to my 100-400 MM before it got past me.

Mommy comforts when son is sad, While on vacation in Sedona, he ordered a special dish for dinner and when it arrived it was nothing like he expected. So, he ended up eating my hamburger and fries!
"The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails. " - William Arthur Ward
Two days before I took this image, the harbor was full of big chunks of ice floating and packed into the space between the shores. Waves were crashing and the wind was blowing all the ice onto the shore. Then on this day the ice was blown completely out of the harbor and the water was relatively calm. The winds of change can completely create a new mood for the day. Expect the change and then adjust your sails! Have a great weekend.
I think that the best experiences you get come especially when you don't expect anything.
This is Karmøy, facing towards United Kingdom and the North Sea.
This evening I brought my old mom on sunset adventures and we had a blast 😂
Precious memories 🙏
This is a sight I had never seen before last year, Gannets flying in tight formation the crucial thing is the date March 1st . Its not a great shot but I wanted to keep a record
We had gone to Bempton just to walk the cliff tops not really expecting much bird activity . However a RSPB warden told us that the Gannets were just beginning to the return to the cliffs and they arrive back in large groups . When they have mated they tend to hunt individually
Northern Gannets mate for life. Young birds reach maturity between the ages of four and five. They begin breeding between March and April. Northern Gannets mainly breed in colonies and breeding sites, also called “gannetries”, on cliffs and offshore islands. They tend to stay loyal to their breeding sites and return to the colony they were born in. Experienced adults usually arrive at the breeding grounds earlier than juveniles, to re-bond with their mate and to defend their territory against rival seabirds.
Their migration routes differ depending on their age. The timing and duration of their migration could also substantially change the geographical location of “gannetries” can also influence the migration patterns of this seabird.
THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT TO MY STREAM.
I WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL IF YOU COULD NOT FAVE A PHOTO
WITHOUT ALSO LEAVING A COMMENT .
This was just me using my new camera when I first got it, testing how it does on my wide angle lens so I thought I'd see if I could catch some stars, mind the crappy light pollution : (
8 x 3 photo pano done in Sequator and stitched in Lightroom
Also I use to come to this area to do a lot of my focus stack macros but when I arrived this time I see they put up a fence around where I use to go, I didn't expect this and it made the compo bad !!

I guess I didn’t expect my next heritage unit to be another black and white ACe with different lettering but it’s nice getting this shot crossed off the list

Right in time for Easter the first tulip is flowering in the garden. More are supposed to follow if the rather wintry weather which we expect next week doesn't finish them off before they have a chance to open their buds.
Long before I was born, there was a tale of a princess that was promised to be conceived from an elf queen and an orc king, this was a sign of unification between the two species. On her assumed 18th birthday, the palace threw a party in hopes that she would finally reveal herself. Nobody expected her to come as she almost became an urban legend; until now.

I found this gaur in one of the darkest corners of the forest, and honestly, I wasn’t expecting much light at all. Then he stepped into this small patch of sun and everything changed. He stood there quietly, breathing, watching, letting the moment unfold at its own pace. No rush. No noise. Just a huge, gentle presence in the stillness. These are the kinds of encounters that stay with me long after I leave the jungle.
I had expected a fine morning but didn't expect the mist. Otherwise I would have got out of the house even faster. But this was the almost weird sight as I headed over from Biddulph Moor towards Rudyard. Strangely beautiful.
I was in two minds to crop the foreground out. What do you think?
We were NOT expecting dragonflies when we checked out a local park yesterday - windy and 60's with a chill in the air in spite of the sunshine. But this old lake in the woods faces south and I immediately spotted this first of 3 Blue corporals as my husband saw two Green darners over the lake. I finally got some perched shots of a 3rd Green darner (see photo below) that was hunting over a sunny slope across from the lake. I was very surprised to also see a large bluet - March is early for most bluets here. And a foty Citrine forktail. We saw only one butterfly: a Falcate orangetip fluttered by in the wind.
So it's a go on dragonflies here!
The green (what we usually expect if someone says, "look at that moss,") is the gametophyte phase of this moss. The plants make eggs, and sperm, that fertilizes the egg. Then, if all goes well, a non-green structure, the sporophyte, grows from the fertilized egg. Each sporophyte has a capsule on its end, and spores are grown there, then released, and washed or blown to another occasion.
This entire assembly was (and most likely still is) growing on a downed tree trunk.
Isn't God a great artist? Thank you for looking.
I expected to be just photographing this rose but the unexpected happened. This insect flew into view and stayed for just a few seconds. I think the insect might be a wasp but I'm not sure.
Sunset from Kaim Hill in Ayrshire.
Having never been up here before I didn't know what view to expect from the summit, so I was shocked to discover how vast it was. Views over Hunterston Power station to Arran and the Cumbrae Isles. You can also see two oil drilling vessels, Ensco Ds8 and Valaris Ds, down on the right that are being stored at the old Cyldeport at the moment.
Kaim Hill itself has a bit of a history being an old millstone quarry many years ago. From what i believe, the ruins in the foreground is whats left of the old millstone quarry office.
This concrete wall is close to where I live and I have been admiring this stain since years. It reminds me either of a ghost or two persons standing close.
I originally expected this stain to disappear after some time, but it is still easily visible after 12 years since the wall was built.
The origin of this song is unknown and it has been attributed to many. It's been around for over 80 years and recorded by many over the years. To name just a few, Bob Dylan, Gene Autry, The Pine Ridge Boys, Johnny Cash, Carly Simon, Willie Nelson, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Brian Wilson, Boxcar Willie, B.B. King and more recently The Dead South.
It can be a lullaby, a love song or a song of heartbreak.
This recording is by The Dead South a folk-bluegrass musical ensemble from, Saskatchewan, Canada. They are no strangers to New Mexico.

The fountains are turned on at awkward times, like when you least expect it. It's great to walk around watching the bigger fountains except when the smaller one's turn on before your ready.
PS: to +/- achieve the desired abstractions for a subject i usually choose the camera and (expired) film of batches i somehow know what to expect from. But i have to confess, that i have know idea what happened here. ^.^
