Huge crash at 3am. Dogs barking. The giant old flame tree next to out house fell. Looks like it was termites. We were unbelievably lucky: it missed falling on the kitchen, the generator, the wall and the "servant's cottage". Nobody was hurt -- we just had some interrupted sleep.

Taken on todays Ras Tanura trip.

Ian was born in Magwa Hospital in Ahmadi in 1955 and lived in Kuwait until 1975. He’s scanned over 300 Kuwait-related photos from his family’s collection, which he’s kindly given me permission to share. This bath of photos I'm sharing were taken over various weekends and holidays in Kuwait, between the late 60s and early 70s.

The photos were taken by Ian, his father Arthur, and his younger brother Tom. All photos belong to Ian, if you copy them, please credit him.

A great journal book about the adventures of, Danielle Barkhouse, an expat living in India. A must-read for any expat or potential expat. It was a great travel companion for me while I flew around the U.S. on a recent trip home to visit family and friends.

More about the book here.

And more about the author here.
