A bad quality cellphone photo I know, snapped when leaving my workplace on a winter's evening from the car window, but this is a tongue-in-cheek approach of number plate personalization, and one does not usually see Jaguar coupes parked at the side of the road here.
Chances are that this 1997 Jaguar XK8 is owned by an expat Brit (A fair number of expatriates from the UK now live in New Zealand, and 'Pom' is an Australasian name coined for them...) with a sense of humour...
Marysol was leaving a salon as I was arriving, and I couldn't help noticing the very snazzy outfit that went with her freshly coiffed updo. She was wearing a full-skirted black-and-white polka-dot dress with a little black cardigan over it, and of course the sunglasses. Plus I could hear she was American, which helped me feel less shy about approaching her.
She graciously let me pose her crouching near a window. I wanted to capture her glamour, so I was after the angle and light and wanted to get her skirt spread out in her lap in a blur – sort of a Marilyn Monroe effect. Turns out the poor woman had just had knee surgery, but she was a great sport and knelt there for a couple of shots anyway.
We talked for awhile afterwards; Marysol is a Spanish teacher who, like me, is from the States but lives here permanently now. Thank you, Marysol, and I hope you like how it turned out!
