Daily health Tips

There is no need for gym or any particular type of equipment, space or weather condition to be able to perform good, old push-ups. All you need is yourself and your body to do the exercises, as well as some willingness, and the picture of what you want to do with your body...

An isolation challenge for indoors - this is an exercise that that I regularly ask my workshop participants to try; this one standing at the bathroom sink.

Try it; find a place to stand, without too much prior thought (the place where you're standing when you first think of the idea is often good and challenging). Then make twenty images, moving no more than one pace in any direction. Try it with a variety of lenses. Twelve images is easy(ish); twenty is not.

This one is standing at the kitchen sink after washing up, and I did not move my feet. All the images are less than an arms length away.

It is primarily an exercise in seeing. But most importantly, in letting go of expectations as to what to photograph, and in taking away object labels so that we see in terms of contrasts, colours, lines, textures, shapes, forms et al.

Seeing needs practice, practice, practice. Like hitting cricket balls, the more we do it, the easier and better it gets ...

We know. The basic abdominal floor crunch is old news at this point, and you want to take core training to the next level. Not a bad choice, considering almost all of our daily tasks require core strength (yes, even sitting at your desk).

According to Tom Holland, exercise physiologist and author of Beat The Gym: Personal Trainer Secrets Without the Personal Trainer Price Tag, the average American spends 56 hours per week sitting, which weakens the coreand that, in turn, makes daily activities tougher. But maintain strong abs, and you'll help prevent back pain, boost your agility, increase your flexibility, and look good.

Relief From Chronic Pain With Eye Exercises in Orem Utah

801-225-1311

Orem Chiropractor - R Ned McArthur, D.C.

This is Dr Ned McArthur.

Today I'm going to be talking about relief from chronic pain and eye exercises.

How does our body stop pain?

There are two structures in our brain stem that work to stop pain.

Our brain stem is between our brain on top and our spinal cord below. If you've ever had a stalk of broccoli, the green leafy, tree like part on top is our brain. It then goes down into a stalk. Our brain stem is the stalk of our brain.

The brain stem has three levels. In the top section is a structure called the periaqueductal grey matter or PAG. In the middle and bottom section is the pontomedullary reticular formation or PMRF.

Here's the really cool part. Right next to each of these are nerves that help move our eyes. So by moving our eyes in a certain way the nerves that move our eyes bump into the nerves that help stop pain.

So by exercising our eyes in a certain way we turn on

the structures that help stop pain.
