the jeep excursion was probably my favourite part of the trip.
we got to drive our own vehicles for the whole day and the trip entailed the following:
- visit to Moron, Cuba where we got to see the 'real' cuba and its people
- boat ride down a river where they fish for tilapia
- snack & drink stop where a local band entertained us
- lunch on a ranch
- horseback riding
- visited a crocodile farm
- drove up and back down a local mountain to the highest point in the province we were in (going back down was the real fun part)
the vehicle? a suzuki jimny w/stick-shift -- fun little suv/jeep as long as you don't ride in the back (going over bumps can be rough)..
Excursion Station, Scarborough, Old Parcels Office Artspace. The canopy incorporates what is now known as the Star of David, though in Victorian times this was not a religious symbol.
Designed by William Bell and opened in 1883 as Scarborough Excursions Station - keeping the riff raff away from the better class of passenger in Scarborough Central! Quickly outgrown it became the Parcels Office in 1908 when a new Excursion Station was opened (Londesborough Road). Following a period of dereliction it was restored and reopened in 2013 as the Old Parcels Office Arts Space.
It is grade 2 listed.
