An excercise to complete a painting in one session from start to finish.
I only drew circles where I wanted to put the thistle heads, the rest was done straight with the brush. The actual colour is a bit more purple than this but as I photographed this at the wrong end of the day I had to use the instant fix button to get more light in it.
The whole thing took about two hours. I deliberatly chose a difficult angle because the object of the excercise was to challenge myself.

Someone recently introduced me to boxing and it really changed me. Boxing has a reputation for its violence but I mostly stick to its recreational side, I like to 'hit the sand' because it helps you relieve a lot of stress and helps you keep yourself under control. In recent years, it really has helped me through some negative events that I went through.

The task tonight was to set up a basic 'still life' and light it as you see fit ... here are the results !!!
The images were lit by using my Canon 430EX II flashgun behind a white umbrella, all controlled wirelessly by my 7D.
Thanks to Jeff and Brian for supplying the 'props' tonight !
