The Excelsior shipwreck
Outer Harbour
I've visited this wreck a few times and haven't had my way with light yet! One day lol. Part of my 52 week project was to get a different view of this wreck which I did at the expense of soiled clothes and bombarded olfactory receptors from the stink around the mud! In the end , I didn't really even like the result so I've posted this one instead :P
I've also recently finished our NZ trip video (*and sydney) - here's the high res version on youtube!
A small number of coaches visited each day for the National Schools Lacrosse Championships which took place at Aldershot Garrison Sports Centre 19-22 March 2022.
One thing I did A LOT of this Summer (more than usual) was photograph the NYS&W SU-99 utilizing the railroad's pair of SD33-ECOs for their run to and from New Jersey. It was always my hope for the pair to be brought together for these trips and just that managed to happen for nearly a month.
Anyway, heres just another shot of them leading the 99 over Hamburg Turnpike at Excelsior Mills Lumber in Butler, NJ.
Boardwalk along the Excelsior Geyser, Yelowstone National Park, Wyoming. The steam that is all around is rising up from the warm springs surrounding the geysers. Walking the boardwalk is like walking through a cloud. The bright orange color coming from the shallow water is form the bacteria that live in the springs. In the foreground to the left of the boardwalk is graffiti. This photo won second prize in a photography contest: www.reyatazphoto.com
Excelsior Geyser Crater is a hot spring in the Midway Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park in the United States. Excelsior was named by the Hayden Geological Survey of 1871. Possibly the only known photograph of Excelsior in full eruption was taken by Frank Jay Haynes in 1888.
The Excelsior Geyser pool discharges 4,000 to 4,500 gallons (15,100–17,000 l) of 199 °F (93 °C) water per minute directly into the Firehole River. In the late 19th century (there was possibly some activity in 1901 too), it was an active geyser that erupted frequently. Most eruptions were about 100 feet high, although some exceeded 300 feet (91 m) in both height and width. It is believed that the powerful eruptions damaged its internal plumbing system, and it now boils as a productive hot spring most of the time.

I finally got around to sampling Newbury & District's Flightline 730 service which took me from Frimley to Heathrow Terminal 5 in 45 minutes and for £6 return - bargain!! The 730 service and it's sister route 731 (Frimley to Basingstoke) were launched in August 2023 to provide a fast and convenient public transport route into Heathrow form North East Hampshire and North West Surrey.
Upon arriving at Terminal 5, the bus enthusiast is bombarded with buses, coaches and colourful minibuses left, right and centre! From Terminal 5 you can travel for free into the central area where even more stuff will keep your camera very busy.
On this particular visit (11/08/2025) we saw a Custom Denning bus, a fleet of Scania Fencers, some rather smart coaches, a few overall advert buses, some London stuff and much more!
It seems odd to see the Excelsior name on a double decker but of course it is now effectively just another fleetname for the Gp South Coast bus fleet. Enviro 400 11 (HF70 CUW) was on Sallisbury to Basingstoke rail replacement duties today, 13th December 2020.
Historic smack, Excelsior LT.472, a traditional Lowestoft fishing smack built in the town in 1921 to trawl the southern North Sea, seen on the slipway undergoing overhaul.
One of my favourite starships. When it first appeared in Star Trek III it was depicted as thuggish and clunky, and it was only in subsequent appearances we got a good look at the design and discovered it was actually graceful and elegant.
Excelsior Geyser Crater is a dormant fountain-type geyser in the Midway Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. Excelsior was named by the Hayden Geological Survey of 1871.
The pool of the Excelsior Geyser Crater discharges 15,100-17,000 litres of 93°C water per minute directly into the Firehole River (off to the left above). In the late 19th century (and possibly 1901), it was an active geyser that erupted frequently. Most eruptions were about 30m high, although some exceeded 90m in both height and width. It is believed that the powerful eruptions damaged its internal plumbing system, and it now boils as a productive hot spring most of the time.
In 1985, Excelsior returned to activity for a 46-hour period on 14-16 September. These eruptions were relatively small at 9m but a few were as much as 24m tall and 30m wide. All of these eruptions lasted about two minutes at intervals between five and 66 minutes.
Between 2004 and 2006, Excelsior did have violent boiling strong enough to be considered as eruptions. This boiling reached between 1.5-3m and had a duration of seconds.
The above image looks at the extreme northern end of the crater pool and some of the very colourful microbial mats around the edge. The vehicles in the background are on the park's Grand Loop Road.

I made a Bus tour with our local German/French education center, Pamina, to Nancy, where we were shown art nouveau facades and the art nouveau museum. The latter being very recommendable.
Lunch was included in this originally art nouveau interior. I can recommend this place.

The Papa Johns Trophy Final 2023 took place at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 2 April. A whopping 250 coaches turned up for this spectacle contested between Sky Bet League One rivals Bolton Wanderers and Plymouth Argyle. Here are a few of my shots of the Plymouth coaches seen on the big day which saw Bolton run out 4-0 winners.

What's a good hero (or team of them) without their villains?
I've been getting really into making original characters, in large part thanks to slight.of.brick's awesome ones.
L to R: Gamemaster, Night Shade, Dirt Devil, Harvestman, Shatterpoint, Incendiary, Shard
Gamemaster has the power to bring any game into reality. He has been known to trap his enemies in a giant Tetris game, or on the deck of a sinking battleship. He is also clinically insane, making him an incredibly unstable and dangerous opponent.
Night Shade has various magical powers, from shadow manipulation to flight. She is also responsible for the accident that gave Paradox his powers.
Dirt Devil is an aerokinetic, with control over the very air. He can create tornadoes, or suck the oxygen out of an opponent's body. His usual method of attack is to create a massive cloud of sand and grit around his victim, slowly tearing their skin apart.
Harvestman is exceptionally strong. in addition to this, he possesses a telepathic connection to nocturnal animals, such as raccoons, wolves, and spiders. He has been known to create living armor out of millions of beetles.
Shatterpoint can detect the weakest point in any structure or object. He uses this to destroy entire building with little more than a gunshot.
Incendiary has the power to create explosions from his own body. This even extends to portions of his body no longer attached to him, such as his cut hair. He is invulnerable to his own explosions, but not to any others, which suggests that he actually has some sort of kinetic force ability.
Shard is a speedster. She has a fun-loving, somewhat eccentric nature. Her clothing is covered in small spikes, making her very dangerous to fight, as just a touch at super-speed is enough to cause a major wound.
Well, let me know what you think, and who your favorite is!
