The former X94 from Peterborough to Norwich was given the Excel name when First was doing that sort of branding and extended to Great Yarmouth,
Now the X1, it is still the Excel with e400 33822 YX63LKM seen rounding the bend near the green in Acle on 6th June 2016
2 coats of Galvafroid were hand brushed. By the time that the Galvafroid and the silver paint and lacquer were applied, the weight of the chassis must have increased by about 2kg
A lot of work was put into the cleaning up of the chassis. It was pressure washed twice, Jiffex used to remove the oil, the galvansing was starting to suffer from oxidation, so this was removed by scraping, and wire brushes in an angle grinder etc.
After cleaning, the chassis was found to be in excellent condition.
2 coats of Galvafroid were applied before painting (10 Dec 2005) and lacquering. The galvansied chassis, now has 2 coats of galvafroid, and a complete paint system, so should last and last. (44)

Salute, one of the largest wargames events in Britain was held on Saturday at Excel London. The event attracted more than 6000 UK wargamers, military modellers and re-enactors of all ages and featured table-top wargames based on many periods in world history.

As well as table-top wargames there were re-enactors from the Zulu War, Elizabethan period and even a Lara Croft look-a-alike. There were some real military vehicles including Fox and Ferret armoured cars and remote-control model tanks in huge 1/4 and 1/6 scale. Truly these were big boys' toys!
