After I dropped Jackie off at her dorm this afternoon, I decided to drive down to the lake since I was already downtown. I had heard that the winds would be gusting up to 55 MPH today ... but I was not prepared for the sight that met me down on the lake! The normal walking path for this scene is on the other side of this fence! I had to scramble to this side due to the "force of nature!"
In my experience; this just isn't normal for Lake Michigan! Operative word being that this is a 'lake!' But I had a strong feeling there would be some action on the lakefront because when I was cruising down Lake Shore Drive; the waves were crashing over the road!!
Pearl Jam — Force of Nature I so LOVE ♥ this song ... and I've been listening to it on 'repeat' since I got home!
Happy Slider Sunday! -- Slidin' in a bit late this Sunday Eve! As a side note for those that care; the Chicago Bears are gettin' whooped in this weather! About 9 miles south of where I was standing at this exact moment!! :D
The beautiful Hoboken’s Beaux-Arts Lackawanna Railroad terminal which was designed by Kenneth Murchison in 1907, in my opinion the loveliest railroad station in the country taken this spring after my boy’s tragic passing, the COVID-19 pandemic tape a barriers removed from the beautiful wooden waiting benches where once upon a time I sat with a certain west coast damsel and treated her to her first cannoli that I had purchased up the block at the Cupcake Boss’s establishment. Little known fact is that this railroad terminal was proceeded by four previous railroad terminals, the last burning down after a ferry caught fire that basically spread to the entire terminal just before this solid walled replacement was designed and built. Restored to its former glory 1997-1999 by New Jersey Transit with a major renovation that included exact replication of the original benches, chandeliers and the clock of which I had posted an image already, I’ve been to many terminals across this great nation, but none is so wonderfully restored and maintained has this one in Hoboken New Jersey.

Although my last two nights have been more than awful. I got up at dawn to do some research on the exact place where we set up camp.
We are not far from a lake . So it was not difficult to locate where we are on the map. And this is the article I just found:
The Suicide Pond of Epping Forest
I immediately think back to my first dream... "I'm fucking starting to freak out...". I then hear movement in the tent and I close my computer by reflex...
------------------------------------------------------

The exact origins of this Yorkshire market town of ancient walkways, cobbled alleys and secret passageways are shrouded in mystery. But one thing's for sure, Knaresborough has carved out a real character for itself with a Tudor prophetess, once royal castle, magnificent viaduct and ancient walkways, cobbled alleys and secret passageways are shrouded in mystery. But one thing's for sure, Knaresborough has carved out a real character for itself with it's magnificent Forest scenery and the wandering river Nid makes it a national treasure.

My old Chupitto. But he is doing great. November 9 was the anniwersary we brought him from pet store. We don't know exact birthday. But he is now almost one year and two months old.
The building was built in the 1800's, but the lighting remains the same.
Image how many sunsets have positioned, low in the sky light, in this exact same spot, for almost the last century and a half.
Semiahmoo Spit is a spit that protrudes from the westernmost expanse of shore on Semiahmoo Peninsula between Semiahmoo Bay and Drayton Harbor off the coast of Blaine in Whatcom County, Washington state. The spit is home to Semiahmoo Park
History
In 1858, prospectors came to the Semiahmoo area searching for the Fraser River. The spit seemed like a logical place to set up a post as a launching point for further exploration into the mainland. A trading post was soon established at the spit, and the owner drew up plans for Semiahmoo City. Semiahmoo was expected to become a migration boomtown, but it eventually developed into a fishing town, as the spit provided shelter for Drayton Harbor and an abundance of coastal resources. Whatcom County's first salmon cannery opened in 1881 in Semiahmoo; in 1891, the Alaska Packers Association was the largest salmon cannery in the world. Salmon canning was to be the main source of revenue in Semiahmoo until 1980, when the land was purchased by the land development corporation. Recently, a park with a small, seasonal interpretive center was built near the headland, and the Semiahmoo Resort and Golf Course was built near the spit.
Use of the spit by the Lummi Indian Nation, and current archaeological investigation
Because of its location, the spit provides access to countless resources that thrive in both the calm waters of Drayton Harbor, and the ocean currents through the Strait of Georgia. Historically, the Lummi Indian Nation used the spit for its natural resources; a major village was built on the spit. Today, shell midden is clearly visible in many places, on either side of the spit, as wave action has cut away at the shore, revealing historic artifacts.

I am not sure of the exact name of this church. It is located in or boardering Harvard university in Cambridge Mass. The beautiful architecture, traingle roof line and modest size make for the ultimate in quaintness.
Commonly known as the carnation or clove pink, it is a species of Dianthus. It is probably native to the Mediterranean region but its exact range is unknown due to extensive cultivation for the last 2,000 years. It is a herbaceous perennial plant growing up to 80 cm tall. The leaves are glaucous greyish green to blue-green, slender, up to 15 cm long. The flowers are produced singly or up to five together in a cyme; they are around 3–5 cm diameter, and sweetly scented; the original natural flower color is bright pinkish-purple, but cultivars of other colors, including red, white, yellow and green, have been developed. The fragrant, hermaphrodite flowers have a radial symmetry. The four to six surrounding the calyx, egg-shaped, sting-pointed scales leaves are only ¼ as long as the calyx tube. Carnations require well-drained, neutral to slightly alkaline soil, and full sun. They are used for medical purposes, such as for upset stomach and fever. Their fragrance was historically used for vinegar, beer, wine , sauces and salads. 26462

En el matrimonio las pequeñas cosas son las grandes cosas;
y nunca irse a dormir enojados.
Es nunca hablar con el otro solo por ser condescendiente;

On the way to wintersports central. I thought I would take the big DSLR but ultimately decided that it was too heavy and too expensive to risk dragging it along. Ironically this is the exact shot I had planned for today and I wouldn't have been able to get the camera out in time to take it.... the phone seems to be ruling this 2015 365 project.
Üsküdar, at Anatolian side of Istanbul, has this very pleasant walk near the Bosphorus that we really liked a lot. In fact, I have pictures of the best sunsets I've ever seen from this exact point. But this day it was raining. It was still beautiful, just different. I saw these reflections that appeared at the floor and liked it.
Hiked to a new waterfall for me yesterday, Still Falls. For an exact location, search Google. It's not an easy waterfall to find for sure. If you go, have a high clearance 4WD vehicle as the gravel road coming to it from either the north or south will test it for sure. My Highlander did well but I wonder about my alignment after that ride.
The hike descriptions I followed using two sources were a bit confusing too. Did a lot of unnecessary walking trying to find the trailhead and waterfall. I'd suggest leaving yourself trail markers.
The waterfall is pretty much all rain fed so it will only look decent after some heavy rains. This photo was taken 3 days after some very heavy rains and the flow was diminishing. Also go early in the morning or on a very overcast day. It's a tight working area so there are not an abundant amount of compositions. But it is a very nice waterfall caught at the right time.

Daarna zal Train World motorstel 660 trouwens bewaren in haar collectie.

In 10 days, it's all over for the classic EMUs of the Belgian federal railways NMBS/SNCB. December 14, 2024, will be the last day of service for this iconic trains that have determined the image of the NMBS/SNCB for years.
Fortunately, Train World is organizing a farewell ride with MS 660 and two sisters on December 14 and MS 660 will then be preserved by Train World.
These EMUs are literally in their winter and as a farewell this wintery image of a classic EMU as CR (CityRail - predecessor of the S-trains) from Leuven to Braine-le-Comte, taken in Tubize on March 19, 2007.

The exact date when the first Gothic style church dedicated to apostles Saint Peter and Saint Paul, was built is unknown, but it was first mentioned in written sources in 1413.
The church greatly suffered from the 1655 military campaign and was rebuilt in 1671, gaining some Renaissance features. Only one of the towers was rebuilt after the fire of the roof in 1732.
The present-day shape of the building results from a further renovation in 1800.
The Allman Brothers were a very popular band during the 1970's pioneers in a musical sub genre called "Southern Rock" which is a blending of country and rock elements. It's been so long ago I can't remember the exact year but I do remember it was at the Capital Theater. This was a very blurred scanned film shot that just sat in my computer drives for years but I ran it through Topaz Sharpen AI and then through KREA AI enhancement and then ran the JPEG image through both programs again to give you all this image brought back from the dead to speck and here is a link to YouTube video of one of their concerts from close to the time I saw them. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Hb9aNgivdg&ab_channel=Allman...
I stumbled upon this scene back in autumn. Feels like weeks but it's been months now. But looking at the photo brings back all of the emotion I felt in the moment. The brightness of the sky was dampened by thick cloud cover. But a break in the overcast allowed the sun to peek out momentarily. The suns; brilliance seemed channeled into a narrow beam that was largely blocked by the canopy of autumn leaves that were layered above me. I found that standing in this exact spot allowed the sun to reach my upturned face. The backlighting on the maple leaves was pure magic. But the illusion vanished with just a couple of steps in any direction. This moment was all about place and time, and the sheer happenstance (or subconscious guidance) of finding myself here to observe it.
I got to thinking about this image earlier today when reading about the conjunction of planets Pluto and Mars that comes to a peak today (February 14). It's an astronomical event, but one with astrological implications. The alignment creates a sort of flashpoint for potentially dramatic events here on earth. Much like the way the sunlight impacted me way down on the forest floor, four months ago, it's all about alignment and perspective.
Dave: Bruno, who is your little friend?
Bruno: He's NewToy72. But sometimes I call him Toppy.
Dave: Well, that's specific.
Bruno: I'm nothing if not specific.
Dave: What happened to NewToy71?
Bruno: Eva. She's also responsible for the premature departure from my life of the majority of my other NewToys.
Dave: And what makes you think that NewToy72 will do any better?
Bruno: I'm keeping him close to me. That and he's a dinosaur. Nothing bad ever happens to dinosaurs.
Dave: Um, Bruno, there's something you should know.
Bruno: Is it taco Tuesday?
Dave: Nope.
Bruno: Then I'm pretty sure that whatever you were about to tell me is 'optional knowledge'. Toppy and me are just gonna hang and rule the family room. Nothing bad can happen when you're hanging with a dinosaur.

Bruno and his stuffy dinosaur. This is a tribute to Duncan and his human tv writer (link in the first comment). I couldn't believe it when I saw that Duncan had the exact same dinosaur as Bruno. That and the fact that it's Dinovember (a real thing according the the Royal Tyrrell Museum) made for the perfect opportunity to get a photo of Bruno with his new BFF. And yes, Eva is often the destroyer of toys in our house. They tend to do well - until all of a sudden they don't and are transformed into a pile of fluff.
I took almost the exact same shot with the exact same power 10 weeks ago. But since I was playing tour guide for an out of state railfan friend I was more than happy to oblige getting him one of the classic Constitution State spots.
Connecticut Southern train CSO-4 is southbound on Amtrak's Springfield Line headed back to Hartford after making a turn to CSXT's West Springfield yard behind OHCR 8530 and CSOR 3901 (both are GE B39-8Es built in Dec. and Nov. 1987 respectively as LMX lease units for service on the Burlington Northern orginally numbered 8530 and 8511 respectively).
They are passing the historic depot here at about MP 48.5 on Amtrak's Springfield Line which dates from 1875 and was closed by Penn Central on 1971. PC planned to demolish it until citizens rallied and got it placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. Amtrak trains continued to call at the platform until 1981 when the stop was moved down south of I91 where a large parking lot was built. Damaged by fire in 2004 the building was finally purchased by the town from Amtrak in 2014. Stabilized for now, once renovations are complete the town plans to lease it for commercial use and it should be much more valuable once the Amtrak and CTRail stop moves back here from the south of town location. Funding is secured, the design is complete and construction should start soon. Here is what is planned for the site: www.nhhsrail.com/pdfs/proj%20320-0016%20windsor%20locks%2...
While the look and feel of this area will change it seems that this classic structure from railroading's past has a bright future!

The exact date of the origin of Newlands Church is unknown, but is believed to be some time in the middle 16th century. Christopher Saxton’s map of 1576 shows a church on the site marked "Newlande Chap.". The church was mentioned again in 1594 when John Mayson of the local farm Stoneycrofte left the sum of 3s 4d to Newlandes Chappell in his will. Due to the effects of the plague of 1558 the church did not have an Incumbent in its early years and it was not until 1610 that Anthony Bragg was installed as the church’s first Lay reader. A Lay reader was an unqualified member of the clergy (usually a local person) who could read the services but could not perform christenings, marriages, or Communion, these duties being the bailiwick of the primary priest on his rounds of the valley. Nine Lay readers served the church until 1731, the longest serving being Thomas Birkhead (1654–1690) and John Atkinson (1690–1728).
Not an exact 1:1 situation because there was less bright light in case of the right picture. Therefore the ISO is 2500 vs. ISO 1000 on the left pic. This leads of course to the loss of some resolution...
Shots were taken at almost the same distance and 100% crops were taken.
Both shots were taken wide open at f:13.
A corona is a type of plasma "atmosphere" of the Sun or other celestial body, extending millions of kilometres into space, most easily seen during a total solar eclipse, but also observable in a coronagraph. The Latin root of the word corona means crown. . . The exact mechanism by which the corona is heated is still the subject of some debate, but likely possibilities include induction by the Sun's magnetic field and sonic pressure waves from below (the latter being less probable now that coronae are known to be present in early-type, highly magnetic stars). The outer edges of the Sun's corona are constantly being transported away due to open magnetic flux generating the solar wind. -from Wikipedia
(Techinically speaking, this is not really a photo of the sun's outer atmosphere, that is something normally only seen in a total eclipse, but this is only flickr so we don't have to be 100% technically correct.)

I was looking out over a vast wildlife refuge and wondering when they were going to begin allowing the ponds to fill with water? Seems like it takes them a bit longer every year. Then out of the corner of my eye I notice some movement. Yep, it was this little guy. He walked up on me and suddenly noticed me at the same time I noticed him.
I almost laughed because he tried to act nonchalant as if he had actually intended to meet me here at this exact time. He walked back and forth in front of me kicking the water and suddenly he began taking a bath. This was halarious, because it went on and on for at least 30 minutes. Even other birds started showing up and joining in. A Killdeer that I really wanted to take photos of, but I didn't want to do anything to interrupt this guy's performance.
He looked at me with those puppy dog eyes and it was as if we were already friends because he had no intention of stopping this little charade. Animals are so cool, I thank God for his absolute love for us that he has create this cornucopia of birds and animals just to amuse us. THANK YOU JESUS! ❤️❤️❤️
----------------------------- JESUS ✝️ SAVES-------------------------------
SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST - ALONE!
12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."
❤️❤️ IT'S ALL JESUS AND NONE OF OURSELVES! ❤️❤️
16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the SALVATION of everyone WHO BELIEVES: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a RIGHTEOUSNESS FROM GOD IS REVEALED, a righteousness that is by FAITH FROM FIRST TO LAST, just as it is written: "THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH." (Romans 1:16-17)
16 KNOW that a man is NOT justified by observing the law, but by FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be JUSTIFIED BY FAITH in CHRIST and NOT by observing the law, BECAUSE BY OBSERVING THE LAW NO ONE WILL BE JUSTIFIED. (Galatians 2:16)
1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2. BY THIS GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.
9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)
7. Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9. I am the gate; whoever enters through me WILL BE SAVED. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10. The thief comes only to STEAL and KILL and DESTROY; I have come that they may have LIFE, and have it to the FULL. (John 10:7-10)
1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 "or 'Who will descend into the deep?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:1-13)
Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

Finally managed to get into this part of the red zone to get a few shots of the Catholic cathedral. This damage was done mainly in the 6.3 quake on Feb 22nd... more damage has apparently occured in the latest 6.3 as well but this was shot a few days before that happened.
The two front towers have collapsed and gone and that front wall on the left is held up by a bit of kiwi inginuity - shipping containers and hay bales.
To the right of the shot out of frame there is a carpark full of blocks and stone from the collapsed cathedral each layed out seperately and numbered - there being saved to possibly rebuild in the exact way once the quakes finally stop.... if they ever do... (they are doing the same to the Anglican cathedral in Christchurch's Center
The latest Quake has damaged it a lot more and it might now be never rebuilt, on this ground anyway....
Just as an interesting fact. The still standing tower at the back had a statue of the virgin mary facing inwards in the front window, during the feb 22nd quake the statue turned an exact 180degrees to face outwards - looking through the window - without falling over or being damaged.
The road im standing on - Barbadoes St - has been identified as having a Fault Line directly underneath - previously unknown. There are now 3 Major active faults under Christchurch.....
This is a 3 exposure handheld hdr processed in photomatix

Back in the day, when things were a bit different. Uncertain of the exact date of the photo, I'm remembering 2001-2002 ish.
exact same vista as in the previous photo, taken minutes apart, but with a very different camera/lens/film = a totally different mood
This is the EXACT PERCENTAGE that I give a flying FUCK about what your religion (OR ANY) says about homosexuality.
Exact.
Note: this is in response to the nonsense going on with this.
