The Texas rat snake (Elaphe obsoleta lindheimeri ) is a subspecies of rat snake, a nonvenomous colubrid found in the United States, primarily within the state of Texas, but its range extends into Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma.[1] It intergrades with other subspecies of Elaphe obsoleta, so exact range boundaries are impossible to distinguish.[2] The epithet lindheimeri is to honor the German-American naturalist Ferdinand Jacob Lindheimer, who collected the first specimen in New Braunfels, Texas.[3]

Almost the exact same shot as the one below, but 20 min. later. It is very much UNLIKE me to stay in one spot for this long, but I'm learning more about being patient and waiting for the spot if I think my composition is good. I'm glad I waited ;D

Let me know if you have a preference between the 2 versions. Seeing the mountain more clearly in this shot helps, of course... But I love the spirit of the earlier twilight shot too.

This is image #200 that I have created and shared here at Flickr. Kind of a nice milestone.... thanks to all of you for viewing my work.

Exactly one week after the freight train from Gent to La Louvière, my brother and I drove to Quenast for another interesting cargo. After loading the freight onto flat wagons, this pair of class 77 locomotives was heading back to their base in Schaarbeek, featuring the sole 77 in TUC color scheme at the front.

Exact location unknown but above the Arctic Circle, Norway Taken one hour before midnight.

Space is wall to wall packed with the gravity. Without gravity, everything would be just pseudo off in straight line like there would be no galaxy, no solar system, and the planet.

And in that case, the universe would be a supremely boring place.

To know the exact reason for the presence of gravity in space, first, know how gravity works-

We know the Isaac Newton equation which has three variables; masses of two objects, the distance between them, and force F itself; which we called gravity along with gravitation constant G.

And that equation is F = Gm1m2/r2

Here f is the gravitational force, M and m are the masses of the two objects, and r is the distance between them.

So according to this equation, the force of gravitation between two objects depends upon the masses of the two objects and distance between them. By increasing or decreasing the distance between them you can change the effect of gravitation.

As the distance increase, the effects of gravitation force decreases and vice versa.

“Force of gravitation can’t be Zero, it does not matter how much the distance between the objects, it means, there is no such a place in the universe where you will not feel the effects of gravity of any object, you will feel, it may be negligible”

If Yes, Why Do Astronauts Float in Space?

On the International Space Station which is around 370Km above the earth’s surface, there is also plenty of gravity which is around 90% of the gravity of earth. (Rotating speed of international space station is 26,800 km/hr)

Indeed without that gravity, it would fly off from the orbit. Due to this gravity, it is stuck in the orbit of earth and not falling and not going away from the earth orbit.

Interestingly astronauts in the space station are not weightless instead they are falling but they are not falling to the earth because they are falling with the speed of gravity while moving horizontally enough to continuously miss the earth.

Rather of nose-diving towards the earth, they are plummeting around the earth, that what we called an orbit just like the wind in a plane like you do not feel moving 700 miles/hr like that astronauts also not feel but from the earth, we can see them moving with that speed.

Astronauts already have done their required acceleration and are moving with constant speed. And they feel like weightless and motionless in the reference from the inside of the spacecraft.

The same thing can be experienced in a plane that is moving towards the earth with the same acceleration as gravity. In your frame of reference inside the aircraft you feel that you are floating in the space but from the earth, it would like that you are crashing towards the earth at terrible speed.

Every object in the plane will start floating because everything inside the plane feels the same gravity.

Is There Gravity in Space? If Yes, Why Do Astronauts Float in Space?

First of all the answer to this question is, YES, there is gravity in the space. There no region in the space where you can say that there is no gravity. Now, let’s elaborate on it…

Is There Gravity in Space?

Space is wall to wall packed with the gravity. Without gravity, everything would be just pseudo off in straight line like there would be no galaxy, no solar system, and the planet.

And in that case, the universe would be a supremely boring place.

To know the exact reason for the presence of gravity in space, first, know how gravity works-

Range of Gravity

We know the Isaac Newton equation which has three variables; masses of two objects, the distance between them, and force F itself; which we called gravity along with gravitation constant G.

And that equation is

F = Gm1m2/r2

Here f is the gravitational force, M and m are the masses of the two objects, and r is the distance between them.

So according to this equation, the force of gravitation between two objects depends upon the masses of the two objects and distance between them. By increasing or decreasing the distance between them you can change the effect of gravitation.

If Yes, Why Do Astronauts Float in Space?

On the International Space Station which is around 370Km above the earth’s surface, there is also plenty of gravity which is around 90% of the gravity of earth. (Rotating speed of international space station is 26,800 km/hr)

Every object in the plane will start floating because everything inside the plane feels the same gravity.

Understand with simple Example

Let’s take a simple example to assume there are only two things in the universe, Elon Musk red Tesla Roadster (That one which is currently in the space) and planet earth.

And the distance between Car and the earth is billions of light-years.

Then due to the gravitational force between red Tesla Roadster and earth one day red Tesla Roadster will definitely fall inside the planet it may take time more than the age of the universe but one-day, Musk Car will definitely fall inside the earth.

Conclusion:

Now again come to the Isaac Newton equation, it does not matter how apart things are, gravitation force of any objects always exist, that force never goes to zero.

It means every object in the universe is constantly attracting other objects no matter how far they are.

🇬🇧 Here we are at the exact moment when the brazier is placed at the base of the balloon, and an entire community — quite literally — lends a hand to stretch the enormous canvas sewn over long winter months. I’ve always loved this scene: the patchwork of colors rising above, and beneath it, a patchwork of people, each gripping a piece of fabric as if it were their own contribution to the ritual.

It’s the perfect portrait of a collective tradition: practical, chaotic, and deeply poetic all at once.

Exact location not known, but we were headed from Ålesund to Geiranger. Monochrome(ish) because it was very all blue (and hazy).

I converted to monochrome, then added a Redscale LUT (from HaldCLUT) to give the sepia tint.

Although my last two nights have been more than awful. I got up at dawn to do some research on the exact place where we set up camp.

We are not far from a lake . So it was not difficult to locate where we are on the map. And this is the article I just found:

The Suicide Pond of Epping Forest

I immediately think back to my first dream... "I'm fucking starting to freak out...". I then hear movement in the tent and I close my computer by reflex...

------------------------------------------------------

This exact spot is my favorite place to photograph on Mount Tam. I love the textures & shapes of the hills. The light was particularly awesome on this evening! We named the group of of boulders at the end of the foot trail Mini Stonehenge. They look tiny in this view but are actually quite large!

The exact origins of this Yorkshire market town of ancient walkways, cobbled alleys and secret passageways are shrouded in mystery. But one thing's for sure, Knaresborough has carved out a real character for itself with a Tudor prophetess, once royal castle, magnificent viaduct and ancient walkways, cobbled alleys and secret passageways are shrouded in mystery. But one thing's for sure, Knaresborough has carved out a real character for itself with it's magnificent Forest scenery and the wandering river Nid makes it a national treasure.

I captured this osprey landing on a dead snag at Antelope Lake in Plumas County, California, USA. When I first saw it, it was in its nest, which I’d just seen for the first time. The sun was probably 10 minutes from dropping over the ridge in the west (camera right) so the bird was flying directly in to some gorgeous golden hour light. I can (and often do) lose track of time watching these amazing raptors as they show off their skills as the best fishers on the water. Someday I’ll capture the exact moment of the catch; I’ve just missed it a few times; but just about any photo of these wonderful creatures is worth shooting!

I am not sure of the exact name of this church. It is located in or boardering Harvard university in Cambridge Mass. The beautiful architecture, traingle roof line and modest size make for the ultimate in quaintness.

This is some species of Cereus. I'm not sure the exact species. Most bloom at night and die out the following day. There is some confusion in classifications with Trichocereus and Echinopsis

Exact replica of the Mayberry Sheriff's Department Patrol Car at Heritage Day in Granville, Tennessee (known as Tennessee's Mayberry Town). A 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 that has been painted, decaled, and trimmed out to look identical to the patrol car featured on the best television show ever aired...The Andy Griffith Show (1960 - 1968) starring Mr. Andy Griffith. I was so excited to see this car as we walked down the street toward where it was sitting and decided, after I processed the photograph, to convert it to Black & White just like it would have looked on screen during the first 5 seasons before the show was colorized for the final 3 seasons.

Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D7200 and combined with Photomatix Pro to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS6 including the final conversion to B&W done with Nik Silver Efex Pro II through PS6.

Dad, did you walk this area before I was born?

"Yes."

That must have been a million years ago.

"Twelve to be exact."

Twelve million years ago-

"Just twelve years, Clancy."

Feels like a million or twelve to me. How could you do that? How could you walk around here without me? I feel sad to think of you all alone out here with nobody to enjoy it with, nobody to play ball with, nobody to explore the ponds and see animals with.

"To tell the truth, I was never entirely comfortable out here by myself anyway. It's one thing to go exploring with your dog pal and quite another to be out here wandering through the bushes or up on the trails where no matter how you dress yourself up with binoculars and camera, etc., the appearance of a lone man out in the wilderness can be kinda creepy for some people."

So you never really had fun doing it?

"Not on the trails, no, which is why I didn't use them much at first. Out in the bush, better, because you never see anyone out here. But you have to get here via the trails, so..."

You know, I feel good about that and sad at the same time.

"That's because you're a good pal."

And will you still come out here after I die?

"That will be a long time from now."

Like a million or twelve years?

"Now there's a time I agree with."

En el matrimonio las pequeñas cosas son las grandes cosas;

y nunca irse a dormir enojados.

Es nunca hablar con el otro solo por ser condescendiente;

Bonito verdad? Pues vá dedicado a ustedes.

On the way to wintersports central. I thought I would take the big DSLR but ultimately decided that it was too heavy and too expensive to risk dragging it along. Ironically this is the exact shot I had planned for today and I wouldn't have been able to get the camera out in time to take it.... the phone seems to be ruling this 2015 365 project.

Cristate or Crested Saguaros are rare. The exact reason the massive growths, like the one to the right, occurs is not known. I have seen groups of them. In fact there are 3 within a 1/2 mile radius of this one. There are also quite a few Saguaros near them that have limbs dropping down and some even touching the ground which is a result of areas of the Saguaro experiencing freeze damage. Some Cristate Saguaros have normal limbs growing upward out of the Cristate area so there does not appear to be a DNA change associated with the massive growths. Saguaros have tons of water stored inside the cells of their core. With the drooping limbs around many Cristate Saguaros I think the source of the Cristate growths is associated with areas near the top of the Saguaro freezing due to wind chill factors as most of those I have seen are in areas where the wind tends to blow a lot. With water density decreasing and the volume increasing as if freezes I can visualize cell damage occurring that could cause the cristate action to start possibly to protect itself? Whatever the reason, I find them fascinating.

Self-timer shot, taken at sunset from the summit of Mount Rocciamelone (3.538 m), Italy.

Here you can see the sun caught in the exact moment before its final setting, behind the mountains of the Vanoise National Park, France... it just began to assume the contours of the distant ridges. At this point, generally, we only have one more exact minute before saying good bye to our star :-)

A huge bank of clouds and high mists, fluttering all around the summit, made the landscape very ethereal, visionary, somehow constantly evolving in terms of lights and shapes... nothing is more fascinating of what we can barely glimpse.

This side of the Rocciamelone is exposed to the west, certainly the most austere and impracticable face, with 3.000 meters of ridges rushing down, till to the plain.

Nevertheless this spot was pretty safe, as I still had a rocky prominence under me. Safety and knowledge of the ground are paramount in the mountains.

March 16 Sunrise day. At 5.30 am the sky was gorgeous so we decided to spend the first hours on the beach and after that, head to the flower fields to shoot a couple of spring frames. At the end of the morning, i was very happy with some of my captured jewls :) However, today, something very weird happened to me. At this exact spot, I made three different shots of this subject. One of the 3, was the perfect shot, at least to me! Vertical format, a gorgeous composition with an overwhelming sky. I loved it from the first moment i saw it on my screen. However, when i got home, after uploading my CFC, it was not there, anymore. I was left with the ones i didn't like. The most weired part is, that I don't remember deleting any frames but i might...:( so now here, it is nothing like the one i've lost, but it will stay as a reminder to go back and shoot an even better one!! My grandma use to say, there is no love like your first and those words just apply here :(|)

Hiked to a new waterfall for me yesterday, Still Falls. For an exact location, search Google. It's not an easy waterfall to find for sure. If you go, have a high clearance 4WD vehicle as the gravel road coming to it from either the north or south will test it for sure. My Highlander did well but I wonder about my alignment after that ride.

The hike descriptions I followed using two sources were a bit confusing too. Did a lot of unnecessary walking trying to find the trailhead and waterfall. I'd suggest leaving yourself trail markers.

The waterfall is pretty much all rain fed so it will only look decent after some heavy rains. This photo was taken 3 days after some very heavy rains and the flow was diminishing. Also go early in the morning or on a very overcast day. It's a tight working area so there are not an abundant amount of compositions. But it is a very nice waterfall caught at the right time.

The previous photo is of me standing at the exact same spot in September 1997. James took my picture then, and I have taken his picture now. The banana tree has now gone. There are always changes, We both are a generation older too 😮😇

Daarna zal Train World motorstel 660 trouwens bewaren in haar collectie.

---

In 10 days, it's all over for the classic EMUs of the Belgian federal railways NMBS/SNCB. December 14, 2024, will be the last day of service for this iconic trains that have determined the image of the NMBS/SNCB for years.

Fortunately, Train World is organizing a farewell ride with MS 660 and two sisters on December 14 and MS 660 will then be preserved by Train World.

These EMUs are literally in their winter and as a farewell this wintery image of a classic EMU as CR (CityRail - predecessor of the S-trains) from Leuven to Braine-le-Comte, taken in Tubize on March 19, 2007.

Belgium, Brabant-Walloon, Tubize, L96 Brussels - Quévy - March 19, 2007 - 3:48 PM.

Here you can see the "INFRABEL Telecom"-train (Telecom & Wireless Networks Measurements) whilst working a trip between Brussels-South and Quenast.

[Edit] Graffiti was removed on the second (white) coach.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Patrick's_Blue

St. Patrick's Blue is officially the colour which appears on the Irish Presidential Standard (i.e. the flag of the President of Ireland) and the Coat of arms of Ireland. It also appears in the part of the Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom representing Northern Ireland.

This blue and gold colour scheme is said to represent "the Ancient Colours of Ireland" [4] and are the colours also found on the coat of arms of "the Ancient City of Dublin" and the Flag of Munster (which evolved from the coat of arms of the Lordship of Ireland). The Flag of Connacht prominently features blue as well.

As the colours of University College Dublin, the blue and yellow scheme is officially called "St Patrick's Blue and Saffron" and is featured prominently on the institution's coat of arms. They are the original colours of the Catholic University of Ireland and date back to the inception of the College in the 1840s. The colours are used by various sports teams at the university such as such the University College Dublin Rowing Club[5]. For the fencing club at University College Dublin, the blue chosen as their St. Patrick's Blue is "Pantone 295", the same shade of blue as that is used on the pennant of the President of Ireland.[6]

Badge of the Most Illustrious Order of St Patrick. The statutes of the Order prescribed a sky blue riband; the exact shade of blue used varied over time.

A group of Sea Scouts associated with St. Patrick's Church in Dalkey near Dublin Port describes their troop neckerchief as "red with a St. Patrick's Blue border."[7]

The Irish Guards, an Irish regiment of the British Army, wear a plume of St. Patrick's Blue in their bearskins. The guards also wear a cap ornament depicting the eight-pointed star of the Most Illustrious Order of St Patrick.[8] Although the last surviving knight died in 1974, the order technically still exists. Knight of the order wore a blue mantle lined with white silk and a blue velvet hat. The ribbands of the order were blue as well.[9][10]

[edit] St. Patrick's Day green

Green, the colour most widely associated with Ireland, with Irish people, and with St. Patrick's Day in modern times, may have become gained its prominence through the phrase "the wearing of the green" meaning to wear a shamrock on one's clothing. At many times in Irish history to do so was seen as a sign of Irish nationalism or loyalty to the Roman Catholic faith. St. Patrick used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pre-Christian Irish.[11] The change to Ireland's association with green rather than blue was probably begun around the 1750s.[12]

Delighted to find another Glanville Fritillary in nearly the exact same spot as I found one a few years ago. This one had a broken wing, but was still beautiful, and I think the (whatever it was) it was perched on complemented the colour of its wings perfectly.

It was frustratingly windy, so using a tripod was pointless and this was a case of hand held and keep shooting until you get a sharp one.

Thanks for looking.

The Exactor was among the very first Imperator-class Star Destroyers to be deployed during the final weeks of the Clone Wars. These powerful ships would later be rebranded as the iconic Imperial-class Star Destroyers and become the backbone of the Galactic Empire's naval forces.

In the scene I built, we see the Imperial High Command briefing a special squad of soldiers. The leader of the squad is a mysterious and unnamed Chiss woman, known for their blue skin and tactical prowess.

As the briefing begins, the High Command reveals crucial information about an upcoming mission. The fate of the Empire hangs in the balance, and the squad must carry out their orders with utmost precision and skill.

Despite the odds, the Chiss squad leader remains calm and focused, ready to lead her team to victory. Her sharp mind and combat experience make her a force to be reckoned with, and she inspires confidence in her fellow soldiers.

Dave: Bruno, who is your little friend?

Bruno: He's NewToy72. But sometimes I call him Toppy.

Dave: Well, that's specific.

Bruno: I'm nothing if not specific.

Dave: What happened to NewToy71?

Bruno: Eva. She's also responsible for the premature departure from my life of the majority of my other NewToys.

Dave: And what makes you think that NewToy72 will do any better?

Bruno: I'm keeping him close to me. That and he's a dinosaur. Nothing bad ever happens to dinosaurs.

Dave: Um, Bruno, there's something you should know.

Bruno: Is it taco Tuesday?

Dave: Nope.

Bruno: Then I'm pretty sure that whatever you were about to tell me is 'optional knowledge'. Toppy and me are just gonna hang and rule the family room. Nothing bad can happen when you're hanging with a dinosaur.

Bruno and his stuffy dinosaur. This is a tribute to Duncan and his human tv writer (link in the first comment). I couldn't believe it when I saw that Duncan had the exact same dinosaur as Bruno. That and the fact that it's Dinovember (a real thing according the the Royal Tyrrell Museum) made for the perfect opportunity to get a photo of Bruno with his new BFF. And yes, Eva is often the destroyer of toys in our house. They tend to do well - until all of a sudden they don't and are transformed into a pile of fluff.

I took almost the exact same shot with the exact same power 10 weeks ago. But since I was playing tour guide for an out of state railfan friend I was more than happy to oblige getting him one of the classic Constitution State spots.

Connecticut Southern train CSO-4 is southbound on Amtrak's Springfield Line headed back to Hartford after making a turn to CSXT's West Springfield yard behind OHCR 8530 and CSOR 3901 (both are GE B39-8Es built in Dec. and Nov. 1987 respectively as LMX lease units for service on the Burlington Northern orginally numbered 8530 and 8511 respectively).

They are passing the historic depot here at about MP 48.5 on Amtrak's Springfield Line which dates from 1875 and was closed by Penn Central on 1971. PC planned to demolish it until citizens rallied and got it placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. Amtrak trains continued to call at the platform until 1981 when the stop was moved down south of I91 where a large parking lot was built. Damaged by fire in 2004 the building was finally purchased by the town from Amtrak in 2014. Stabilized for now, once renovations are complete the town plans to lease it for commercial use and it should be much more valuable once the Amtrak and CTRail stop moves back here from the south of town location. Funding is secured, the design is complete and construction should start soon. Here is what is planned for the site: www.nhhsrail.com/pdfs/proj%20320-0016%20windsor%20locks%2...

While the look and feel of this area will change it seems that this classic structure from railroading's past has a bright future!

The exact date of the origin of Newlands Church is unknown, but is believed to be some time in the middle 16th century. Christopher Saxton’s map of 1576 shows a church on the site marked "Newlande Chap.". The church was mentioned again in 1594 when John Mayson of the local farm Stoneycrofte left the sum of 3s 4d to Newlandes Chappell in his will. Due to the effects of the plague of 1558 the church did not have an Incumbent in its early years and it was not until 1610 that Anthony Bragg was installed as the church’s first Lay reader. A Lay reader was an unqualified member of the clergy (usually a local person) who could read the services but could not perform christenings, marriages, or Communion, these duties being the bailiwick of the primary priest on his rounds of the valley. Nine Lay readers served the church until 1731, the longest serving being Thomas Birkhead (1654–1690) and John Atkinson (1690–1728).

Another shot of the historic police hut in Arrowtown. Built in 1863 it is the oldest wooden structure in Arrowtown and constructed from pit-sawn red beech. It was originally part of a police camp but the exact use of the building isn’t known. It is said to have been used for storing gold during the gold rush.

Not an exact 1:1 situation because there was less bright light in case of the right picture. Therefore the ISO is 2500 vs. ISO 1000 on the left pic. This leads of course to the loss of some resolution...

Shots were taken at almost the same distance and 100% crops were taken.

Both shots were taken wide open at f:13.

it is BND:-))

Langmusi, Sichuan, Chine

I love the idea of the underdog winning against a strong adversary, even if that foe is only beaten with a strength in numbers. Noisy Miners are my favourite bird for this exact character.
