A Lancair Evolution approaches Scottsdale, Arizona at Sunset.

As is the norm I didn't have a plan for tonight. Went down the blade route again with a little pcb action and a mid-exposure lens swap.

Pcb first with the macro rings on, removed them and replaced the lens for the light blade. Blind pan and aperture change for the bokeh fiber optics.

A great deal of faffing to end up with something I'm not too fond of.

Shot with a custom white balance during a single long-lens capped exposure.

Evolution Wrestling

The spiral galaxy IC 1954, located 45 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Horologium, is the star of this Picture of the Week from the Hubble Space Telescope. It sports a glowing bar in its core, two main majestically winding spiral arms and clouds of dark dust across it. An image of this galaxy was previously released in 2021; this week’s image is entirely new and now includes H-alpha data. The improved coverage of star-forming nebulae, which are prominent emitters of the red H-alpha light, can be seen in the numerous glowing, pink spots across the disc of the galaxy. Interestingly, some astronomers posit that the galaxy’s ‘bar’ is actually an energetic star-forming region that just happens to lie over the galactic centre.

The new data featured in this image come from a programme to extend the cooperation between multiple observatories: Hubble, the infrared James Webb Space Telescope, and the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array, a ground-based radio telescope. By surveying IC 1954 and over fifty other nearby galaxies in radio, infrared, optical, and ultraviolet light, astronomers aim to fully trace and reconstruct the path matter takes through stars and the interstellar gas and dust in each galaxy. Hubble’s observing capabilities form an important part of this survey: it can capture younger stars and star clusters when they are brightest at ultraviolet and optical wavelengths, and its H-alpha filter effectively tracks emission from nebulae. The resulting dataset will form a treasure trove of research on the evolution of stars in galaxies, which Webb will build upon as it continues its science operations into the future.

[Image Description: A spiral galaxy seen tilted diagonally. It has two large, curling arms that extend from the centre and wrap around. The arms are followed by thick strands of dark reddish dust. The arms and rest of the galaxy’s disc are speckled with glowing patches; some are blue in colour, others are pink, showing gas illuminated by new stars. A faint glow surrounds the galaxy, which lies on a dark, nearly empty background.]

"R-Evolution" by Marcos Cochrane - "I am you and we are everywhere"

For 122 Pictures in 2022 #29 "Evolution", this shows the evolution of methods for listening to recorded music.Shown are vinyl albums, CDs, mp3 player, and a phone representing streaming music (I couldn't fit my computer in the picture). There are some missing links here, as I don't have, and have never owned tape cassettes nor 8-track tapes, which fit between vinyl and CDs. I also don't have any 45 rpm single vinyl records, which actually came just before albums, but the technology is essentially the same.

For thos who are curious, the three vinyls are from Grateful Dead, Fleetwood Mac, and Deep Purple. The CDs are Bob Dylan, Richard Thompson, and Xavier Rudd. The phone is streaming a Pink Floyd album. The mp3 player is turned off, but contains rips of every CD I own.

1997 Rover 100 Ascot 5-door.

1120cc.

Last MoT test expired in December 2012 (SORN).

Anglia Car Auctions, King's Lynn -

"This Rover 100 Ascot - an evolution of the Metro - has a genuine 43,525 miles on its odometer, which can be confirmed by both the service and MoT history. Just one previous registered keeper is noted on the V5C, with a lady owner from 2005 onwards. However, the vehicle was taken off the road in December 2012 and has only just been revived, with fresh petrol and a new battery fitted. There is no current MoT however. The history folder contains the V5C, 2011 MoT certificate, and a print-out of the online MoT history from 2005 up to 2011. There's also the original book pack with owner's handbook, radio instructions and service book, featuring eight stamps up to 26,284 miles in November 2006. Although we have had the Rover running and driving it is now not running due to a suspected fuel pump failure. As such it will be sold as a non runner on a no reserve basis."

No reserve. Sold for £660 including premium.

It’s been fun spending the last few years seeing how this amazing city is changing.

Buildings go up, and buildings come down. We go up, and we come down with them, attempting to get a better view of the changing landscape.

We’ve been a relatively flat city up to now, but we’re blossoming nicely.

This image features two of the newer builds in the ‘Walkie Talkie’ with 3 cranes on it, and behind there the ‘Cheesegrater’. From this vantage point they are obscuring the ‘Gherkin’ which once made regular appearances in the skyline, and will soon be left in the shadows of the giants around it.

March 2013 vs May 2019. Creating Marci (for the first time) or evolving Marci (ongoing)

this was folded late last autumn and finally I have a picture.

it's an idea that came to me while I was playing with variations of the tIRAngle and with this one in particular.

on the left is the original version of ira's triangle and the second from left was the original inspiration for this series.

you subdivide the tIRAngle into smaller tIRAngles so that there a now 2 tIRAngles along each side.

why not continue the process...?

and even better: let's make it in such a manner that the original outer triangle shapes have the same size. that way it's really just a refinement of the structure form model to model.

of course for a real fractalization process you would divide the original tIRAngle into 4 smaller tIRAngles and then repeat the same for those smaller tIRAngles. that means the fractalization series would not include the third model. but what the heck...? :-))

every one of those 4 models was folded from a single piece of appropiately shaped paper à la this.

The Jardí Botànic de Barcelona is a 14-hectare botanical garden. Inside the Garden is the Botanical Institute of Barcelona (IBB-CSIC), a joint center belonging to the CSIC and Barcelona City Council.

It was inaugurated on April 18, 1999, on the site of an old rubble dump in Montjuic Park. The project was the work of the Barcelona City Council. He is a member of the Ibero-Macaronesian Association of Botanical Gardens, and of the BGCI, presenting papers for the International Agenda for Conservation in Botanical Gardens.

The international identification code of the "Jardí Botànic de Barcelona" as a member of the "Botanic Gardens Conservation International" (BGCI), as well as the initials of its herbarium is BC.

The collections are focused on plants from Mediterranean regions around the world, this is a vegetation linked to the Mediterranean climate that is characterized by a long dry summer, mild winters and rains in spring and autumn. This climate is only found on 5% of the earth's surface, but in 5 regions of the world in which the plants had a specific adaptive evolution that nevertheless gives quite similar landscapes, for which reason the plants are distributed grouped, according to the five Mediterranean regions of the world.

The paths allow us to access from zone to zone, starting with the Canary Islands located at the entrance and going up to the western Mediterranean recognizable by the botanical institute, which stands out.

From the Northern Hemisphere, the area with the greatest representation is the Mediterranean Basin. Following the visit path leads to the coast of California with a Mediterranean climate.

Then there are the Mediterranean areas of the Southern Hemisphere where you visit the Mediterranean region of Chile, southern Africa, and the two Mediterranean regions of southern Australia (SE and S).
