The envelopes and stamp are real - the drawing is of the sneakers. These are letters I have written to my mum., We are running in a fun run in a few weeks time, and so I am keeping up our motivation for putting on the sneakers and going out for a jog. It's also nice for her to get an unusual letter in the mailbox.

Envelope that I decorated and sent to a new mail artist friend.

I received an unexpected letter from the artist Gail Reike today inside a handmade envelope which was a work of art.

The techniques she uses to decorate this are inspiring and I want to have a go at trying something similar

I don't often have time to do illustrated envelopes, which is a pity, because I love them - but this is one I have done to send Paula her card. I will write her address on the elephant's blanket :O)

#2 for Jackie.

I know how much you loved the one I made Mel, so here's yours, just a little different from hers. Hope you like it.

Well it said there were four envelopes of gelatine in the 22 cent box....and there was. But I did not expect the great graphics! When Charles Knox died in 1908 his wife Rose Knox took over the business and ran with it.She made, for the times drastic and revolutionary changes. One of her first moves was to eliminate separate Men and Women's entrances to the factory. “We are all ladies and gentlemen working together here,” she announced, “and we’ll all come in through the front door.” In 1913, she instituted a five-day work week along with two weeks’ paid vacation a year and paid sick leave. This was a pioneering move, and something that was completely unheard of before. She also rode out the Great Depression, without having to lay off any employees. She also set up a test kitchen and developed hundreds of recipes which were printed on Knox packages, on leaflets and in illustrated cookbooks. A leaflet was included in this box.

Mrs. Knox operated the company for over 40 years. Under her direction, the company expanded enormously. Rose Knox is recognized as one of America’s foremost business women and the first female member of the American Grocery Manufacturers’ Association and in 1929 became its first female director. The company was run for three generations of the Knox family before being aquired by Thomas J. Lipton Inc. in 1972. I never for one minute ever thought that little box I've had forever with a cow on the front would bring out such a story!

Так как из квадрата 20 см конверт выходил короче денежной купюры, я на шаге 1 сгибала уголки не к центру, а с промежутком, на длину купюры.

I had fun trying Lisa's technique for making a gift bag from an envelope. This started out as a cream envelope from a standard sized card. I used Hero Arts stamps, distress inks from Ranger, and a spiral paperclip to hold the bag closed.
