My husband is a big fan of James Bond movies, and has a birthday coming in December. So I made this envelope for him and will have one of his birthday gifts in it. I made this from a calendar page. It is a scene from Dr. No, the first Bond film. Dr. No came out in 1962. I wouldn't be surprised if he likes the envelope better than the gift inside. My husband saves all of my handmade envelopes.

Envelope with a photo of a variety of colorful flowers. I made this from a calendar page. Sent to a participant in a swap on Instagram.

Based on a city centre building, but repeated and reduced to form an image using Italian Futurist techniques

Nothing specific, just whatever came to mind as I went along.

Finally got these printed for use in my kits and swaps.

I have several letters from an old scrapbook I found at the antique store. Love this envelope. Note the "passed by army examiner" stamp. Great WWII ephemera.

You may use this in your art.

It's weird: my technique for decorating envelopes has not evolved one iota since making envelopes for my pen pals when I was a little kid. Just as chaotic, just as nonsensical. The only thing that's changed is I have more rubber stamps than I did then—more stamps period!

The leaves are from an exuberant Japanese (laceleaf) maple out front of our house: when lit by the sun, they're such a vivid wine red, they practically glow. It amazes me the leaves are that color all year long, but then my husband is the botanist, not me.

The map is of the North Polar regions: you can see the North Pole just over AJ's name on the front of the envelope. The beige-colored stars and other shapes are actually metallic gold, with a tiny texture—courtesy of Danielle, who didn't warn me about how hard that thin foil is to work with once you've removed it from the backing! =laugh=

Mass production of squirrel envelopes - two !

I originally drew this squirrel on an envelope that I sent to my Mum a few weeks ago as part of our trip preparation. www.flickr.com/photos/alissaduke/8715778681 I am sending letters to some friends we are visiting in the UK and also some English friends in Australia and decided to draw them again. I just love the way the squirrel is looking right up at you . It is drawn from a photo I took many years ago in London. (we don't have squirrels in Australia !) I can still remember taking the photos and how quickly he moved and what a surprise I got !

I wanted to try it, because I had enough flowers at home and already enjoyed them more than week (less guilty feeling to play and throw away later)

Gee, more difficult than I thought! Dry flowers break so easily and I had to use the vacuum cleaner every time I touch them.

I must say, her art is great and I won't try this again and just enjoy her Instagram.

A lovely letter from a friend.

Kisling lived and worked in Montparnasse where he was part of the renowned artistic community gathered there at the time. For a short time he lived in the Bateau-Lavoir in Montmartre, knew Picasso, Cocteau, André Breton, Max Jacob , Erik Satie., Modigliani and many more. En son honneur, parce qu'il n'estpas trè connu j'ai cru bon de le célebrer un peu avec cette lettre

An advertising supplement produced by the long-established paper, envelope and manufactured stationery makers John Dickinson & Co Ltd that is tipped into a copy of The British Printer in 1934. The supplement's centre fold shows the four main paper mills of Dickinson's, all in Hertfordshire north of London, and at the time included Apsley Mills and Nash Mills at Hemel Hempstead, Croxley Mills at Watford and Home Park Mills at Kings Langley. There was also what I suspect was the envelope and stationery works at Tottenham, north London. The centrefold photomontage also shows the numerous branch offices and depots both here in the UK and overseas.

John Dickinson was a London stationer who took to paper manufacturing and introduced a number of important mechanical develoments to the process of paper manufacturing. The company also developed processes to mechanise the manufacturing of stationery items such as gummed and window envelopes. The principle retail brands they are most recalled for are 'Lion Brand' (1910) and 'Basildon Bond' (1911) that they acquired when they bought out Millington's, the originators, in 1918. Sadly Dickinson's, who had merged with fellow stationers Robinson's of Bristol in 1966, was asset-stripped in the late 1980s, the company's various mills, works and brands sold on and all have now vanished.

The advert is, of course, printed on Dickinson's paper - "Snow White Art Paper" manufactured at Home Park Mills.
