My entry for the fifth annual June/July Jamboree on Brikwars. Participants are supposed to create a scenic build.
One SB600, camera right, bounced off the wall. I had a real hard time with this one. Shadows and glare! Any suggestions would be appreciated. It was one of those days where things just didn't always click.
The living room is to the left. My office is straight ahead, and two more bedrooms upstairs. Downstairs, there's a big basement area and a 2 car garage.
I got a little whimsical and adventurous in my entry this year. I gathered some fallen branches at the park, gave them a spritz of white spray paint and hung lots of streamers of white curling ribbon - movement when the door opens, bright and light and FUN!
It is reputed that a Saxon church existed in Balderton but no traces of masonry have been found - evidence from Domesday is hard to interpret as the manor of Balderton and Farndon were part of the sokelands of Newark-on-Trent, the larger royal Mercian manor and included in its entry. (Newark with its ‘outliers’ of Balderton and Farndon had 10 churches and 8 priests.)
The Parish church has been built piecemeal over the 12th, 13th, and 14th centuries and then restored in c1880 with 20th century additions. The present stone church consists of nave with 4 bays, chancel, north and south aisles, an embattled western tower containing a clock and 8 bells, and an outstanding octagonal crocketed spire. The oldest parts are the Norman doorways of the north and south porches, particularly the superb N-doorway seen here, which has a 15th century oak door and a carved 12th century figure of the Virgin Mary in a niche above.
The lower stage of the tower is 13th century, but the upper part and spire are late 14th or early 15th. The tower and the main body of the church were encased in Ancaster in the Victorian restoration.
The aisles are mostly Decorated, the 13th century N-arcade piers are octagonal whilst the 14thC S-arcade octagonal piers have foliated capitals. The clerestory was lost in Victorian restorations. The chancel, which was re-roofed about 1856, has Early English lancet windows, which are filled with scrambled fragments of medieval glass found in the churchyard. The east triplet of 1856 is reported to be by G G Place.
I purchased this trim but have not decided if I am going to install it. The trim is resting in place for the photo. Front Passenger Trim.
The Feast of the Invention of the Holy Cross is, along with Corpus Christi, one of the two feasts that, besides Lent and Easter, are celebrated at the Holy Sepulcher according to the same plan : a solemn entry for First Vespers, processions winding three times around the aedicule, nighttime Office, Solemn Mass on the day of the feast. But unlike the other feasts, this one is celebrated only by the Franciscans, and the principal concelebrant is normally the Custos of the Holy Land. Furthermore, this is the only feast day that is not celebrated in the upper part of the church but rather in the very place where, according to tradition, Saint Helena, the Emperor Constantine's mother, found the three crosses of Calvary, among them that of Christ.

This constitutes part of my entry for an online Back to the Future contest, where we had under a week to put together any Back to the Future costume we wanted.
Here, 1955 Doc examines the letter that 1985 Doc sent from 1885 to Marty in 1955 (if none of that makes sense, go watch Back to the Future II and III), while Marty goofs around with the brain-wave analyzer. It's also the only costume pic where "CPU" I made for the brain-wave analyzer is visible.
My dad was kind enough to help with my contest entry, despite the fact that he probably thought this was all really corny.
I forgot to take off my glasses for this one. Oops.
Coniston Power Boat Records Week is the only event in the Powerboat Racing Calendar to bring together all classes of boat. Entry is open to all from tiny hydroplanes, through inshore circuit racers to the largest offshore boats. It is the finale to the racing season. Competitors and officials from all over the country assemble annually for what has been a popular event since it's inception in 1970.
