Castle ruin Fiľakovo, South Slovakia.
In the 12th century there was already a castle with square tower, palace and palisade on the volcanic top of a 65m high basalt rock. In 1551 it was enlarged and strengthened. The middle and lower castle was built, with two pentagonal bastions, walls, entrance corridor and cannon positions. In the same time the town as well got the wall with the gates and bastions. The castle was a part of the defence line against the Turkish expansion in the 16th century. In 1554 the Turks captured the castle and had been governing in and around Filakovo for 39 years. Counts Miklós Pálffy and Christoph Tiefenbach liberated the castle in 1593. Imre Thököly, the reigning prince of Transsylvania, with help of big Turkish army captured the castle in 1682. The castle was destroyed and since this year remained in ruins. Thököly was proclaimed the Hungarian king here. The last owners of the castle were Coburgs.

Avondale Theatre Company's (ATC) production of The Brick and the Rose. The Brick and the Rose is the ATC's entry in the 2014 Michigan Interscholastic Forensic Association theater competition. ATC is the defending State Division II champion.
The Brick and the Rose is Lewis John Carlino's powerful expressionistic drama that weaves a very sad tale of Tommy, a boy born in the slums, who tries desperately to escape the vicious cycle of a world filled with hate and emptiness. Despite finding joy and love in a young woman, Tommy struggles to break his addictions to drugs and the lifestyle of death which surrounds him. His struggle engulfs his broken soul and his tragic ending leaves a message for all. The Brick and the Rose is presented in a one act format and will feature an original rock musical score by Bryan Iglesias, a member of the company.

Cavedale is a dry limestone valley in the Derbyshire Peak District, England. The northern end of the dale starts at the village of Castleton where the valley sides are almost perpendicular and over 50 metres in height. The dale rises gently after leaving Castleton for approximately 200 metres before becoming steeper culminating in a fine viewpoint down the dale taking in Peveril Castle with Lose Hill behind. After the viewpoint the dale swings west and levels out with gentle gradients, becoming just a shallow depression as it peters out onto the open pastureland between Castleton and Chapel-en-le-Frith. Cavedale was initially formed by glacial meltwater carving a deep narrow valley in the local soluble limestone. The river then found a route underground leaving a dry valley with caverns underneath. Later on the caverns below Cavedale collapsed making the valley even deeper and gorge-like at the northern end. The Castleton entrance to Cavedale had a narrow natural arch as recently as 200 years ago, a relic of the roof collapse. The lower slopes of the dale have large amounts of scree; frost on the higher limestone cliffs having caused the rock to shatter.
