Another in the moment series from my favourite part of Hillock Wood, where wide spaced conifers bath in a sea of ferns. I was captivated by the embracing touch of the young sapling as it wraps itself around the trunk of the conifer. The mist of course adds that touch of softness.

Belém Tower (in Portuguese Language: Torre de Belém) is really called Tower of St Vincent. It is a fortified tower located at Belém quarter in Lisbon, Portugal.
It is an UNESCO World Heritage Site (along with the nearby Jerónimos Monastery) because of the significant role this part of the city played in the Portuguese maritime era of discovery, or Age of Discoveries.
The tower was commissioned by King John II to be both part of a defense system at the mouth of the estuario of Tagus River and a ceremonial gateway to Lisbon as well. The tower was build between 1515 and 1521 by project and leaderance of the military architect Francisco de Arruda.
The tower was built in XV century and is a prominent example of the Portuguese Manueline architecturial style, but it also incorporates hints of other architectural styles.
The structure was built from lioz limestone and is composed of a bastion and the 30 meter (100 feet), four story tower. It has incorrectly been stated that the tower was built in the middle of the Tagus and now sits near the shore because the river was redirected after the 1755 Lisbon earthquake. In fact, the tower was built on a small island in the Tagus River near the Lisbon shore, wich island is no more island and it is mixed with the sands of the right shore of the city.

We spent yesterday at the beach. Except for a mild wind, the weather was perfect. It is rejuvenating to see people celebrating life and enjoying themselves.
I was on my balcony and against this beautiful sunset was our young Sunflowers, which against the backdrop gave an atmospheric view of the early evening, of what was the remains of Summertime. no idea why as Humans we love the Sunset and evening so much, the end of day moments before dark. I love how Sunflowers when you observe them, actually follow the Sun as it's crossing the sky throughout the day, then sit neutral until the next morning.

An interesting twisting branch encircles the parent tree in an almost seductive way. Taken in Hillock Wood, Buckinghamshire.
Friday night in my part of the world and currently recuperating from a long and toxic work week.. i will visit streams as soon as my energy allows me.. for now, just warm hugs and wishing everybody great weekend ahead..
With a dusting of snow on the mountain peaks and the beautiful yellows and oranges on the aspen, you know its autumn in the Eastern Sierra. I had been thinking of this particular shot for some time now and was glad that I had the conditions to pull it off. Hope you all enjoy and have a great week!
