Embodying beauty art

Incomprehensible is all this heritage of past centuries, embodied in art and speaking through the image created by a talented artist: “Judge not on the face of the sons of humanity, but judge righteous judgment. By whom you judge, you will be judged” (John 7:24; Matt. 7:2).

Mykhailo Vasyliovych Nesterov (1862-1942) was only 23 years old when he appeared in the Volodymyr Cathedral in Kyiv. He was the youngest artist among the "congregants". The artist owns four iconostases of the lower and upper side-chapel (a total of 16 figures), two altar wall images, as well as "The Epiphany" in the baptistery.

Speculating on the Blue

Flaka Haliti

2015

Sand, Metal, Light

56th Venice Biennale, Kosovo Pavilion

«Speculating on the Blue is a site specific installation conceived by Flaka Haliti for the Kosovo Pavilion at the Biennale Arte. With this work she addresses the topos of borders that are not only part of her personal history but also our everyday global reality. The artist specifically examines the features of the borderland, often deserted and seemingly decaying within a short period of time. Barriers are manmade manifestations of political decisions made about territories, which are often drawn with little regard for natural and ethnical boundaries. Haliti aims at de-militarizing and de-familiarizing the aesthetic regime that is embodied by physical borders through the creation of a counter image. In doing so she transforms the former into a sign of optimism. Her approach is one of recontextualizing global politics through disconnection from its regime of appearance. The metaphor of the horizon, simultaneously emblem of possibility and enigma of our limitations is woven into the fabric of our past and present.

By drawing on the universal meaning of this metaphor, the artist removes the image economy of the horizon from any specific spatial-temporal context and speculates on its validity as an eternal truth.»

This image showcases a stunning street view in Palermo, Sicily, taken from an ultra-low angle that accentuates the grandeur of the historic architecture. The primary focus is on the Palermo Cathedral (Cattedrale di Palermo), an iconic landmark that exemplifies the cityâs rich cultural heritage. The cathedral's design is a harmonious blend of various architectural styles, including Norman, Moorish, Gothic, and Baroque influences, reflecting the diverse civilizations that have shaped Palermo over centuries.

The left side of the image features a row of ornate palazzi, likely dating back to the Renaissance or Baroque periods. These buildings exhibit traditional Sicilian architectural features, such as arched windows, intricately carved stone details, and iron balconies. The street itself exudes a timeless charm, with its cobblestone pavement and warm-toned facades that are characteristic of Mediterranean urban settings.

Palermo's historical significance is deeply tied to its role as a cultural crossroads in the Mediterranean. Founded by the Phoenicians and later ruled by the Romans, Arabs, Normans, and Spanish, the city has absorbed influences from each era. The Palermo Cathedral, originally built in 1185, stands as a testament to this layered history. Its evolution over the centuries, with additions from different periods, embodies the city's dynamic past.

Culinary traditions in Palermo are equally rich and diverse, with street food playing a central role. Visitors to the area might enjoy sampling dishes such as arancini (stuffed rice balls), pane e panelle (chickpea fritters served in a sandwich), and the famous cassata siciliana, a traditional dessert. The cityâs vibrant food markets, such as Ballarò and Vucciria, provide an immersive experience into Palermoâs gastronomic culture, which, much like its architecture, reflects a tapestry of influences from its multicultural history.

Embodying Cleopatra is a real humbling experience.

Suspended delicately between blades of grass, this butterfly, despite the marks of time on its magnificent wings, embodies the endurance and brilliance of life. Every stain and tear adds a layer of depth to its story, reminiscent of Lara Fabian's moving ballads that celebrate the strength behind fragility. Capturing this image is like capturing a bittersweet melody, alive with colour and emotion.

Cassian Set by WellMade Fashion — A Love Letter to Bold Femininity

I don’t just wear the Cassian Set — I embody it.

This isn't simply an outfit. It’s a magnetic expression of sensuality, a siren call to those who admire detail, confidence, and unapologetic beauty. With its sculpted silhouette and daring strappy cut-outs, the Cassian two-piece whispers secrets from the golden age of pin-up glam while dancing boldly into the future of digital couture. Every angle flatters, every curve is celebrated.

The set comes alive in 20 HUD-driven color options, from rich velvets to dazzling polka-dots, giving me the power to be both temptress and tease in any shade I choose. Whether I slip into soft pastels for a dreamy afternoon or command attention in bold reds and inky blacks, the optional shine effect lets me shimmer just a little more than the rest.

In this design, I feel like I’ve stepped out of a 90s Versace runway, reimagined for the digital era. The star-charmed chains and lingerie-inspired lines nod to haute couture’s sultriest moments — think boudoir meets cyber glam. It's fashion history rewritten with modern pixel precision.

Flamingos are large birds that are identifiable by their long necks, sticklike legs and pink or reddish feathers. Flamingos embody the saying "you are what you eat." The pink and reddish colors of a flamingo's feathers come from eating pigments found in algae and invertebrates.

There are six species of flamingo, according to the Integrated Taxonomic Information System (ITIS): greater flamingo, lesser flamingo, Chilean flamingo, Andean flamingo, James' (or puna) flamingo and American (or Caribbean) flamingo.

The smallest of all Flamingos is the Lesser, and it is also the one that there is the most of. It is estimated that about 5 million of them reside in the world. They are found mainly in Africa and Asia. They are also one of the most common types of Flamingos in captivity due to their ability to adapt well to such environments.

Greater flamingos (Phoenicopterus roseus) are tall, pink bird in any given locale. They also have long, lean, curved necks and black-tipped bills with a distinctive downward bend.

These beauties in flight were photographed on a bird walk along the shores of Lake Elementaita, Kenya.

Since its launch in 1905, RC Cola has been a soft drink that embodies individuality and entrepreneurial spirit. RC originated in Columbus, Ga., when a young pharmacist named Claud A. Hatcher decided to supply his family’s grocery store with drinks that he produced and bottled. Hatcher called his first line of beverages “Royal Crown,” and the first cola product “Chero-Cola.” Other early products included Royal Crown Ginger Ale, Royal Crown Strawberry and Royal Crown Root Beer. Sales grew steadily and in 1912 Hatcher’s basement bottling activities grew into the Chero-Cola Co. Sixteen years later, he renamed the company Nehi Corporation, after the successful line of fruity beverages he had developed. After Hatcher’s death in 1933, Vice President H.R. Mott took control of the company and quickly streamlined operations to make the company debt-free within the year. Part of Mott’s plan was the reformulation of the classic Chero-Cola into a more refreshing beverage. Chemist Rufas Kamm was given the responsibility of coming up with the new flavor, which took six months to perfect. The new cola was released to the public with the name of Hatcher’s original line of beverages: Royal Crown. Royal Crown Cola was an instant sensation. RC Cola, as it is now called, was such a success that the company was eventually renamed Royal Crown Cola Co. By 1940, RC products were available in 47 of the 48 states.

Intha Lake fishermen, renowned for their distinctive technique, navigate the waterways with a remarkable leg-rowing style. Perched at the stern of their slender wooden boats, these skilled fishermen balance on one leg while the other is wrapped around the oar. With a synchronized motion, they propel the boat forward, their arms free to manage the intricacies of the conical nets. This unique technique, evolved over generations, allows them to navigate the lake's shallow waters, where reeds and floating gardens abound. Their dexterity extends to the handling of the conical nets, an artful craft passed down through ancestral knowledge. With precision and grace, they manipulate these nets using a circular motion, skillfully casting them into the water to ensnare the abundant fish that thrive in Inle Lake's rich ecosystem. The harmony between their rowing and net handling embodies a tradition that not only sustains their livelihood but also stands as a testament to their cultural heritage and intimate relationship with the lake.

This striking photograph captures the soul-stirring trail to Kedarnath, one of the most sacred pilgrimage routes in India. The foreground reveals a rugged mountain path winding its way through dramatic Himalayan terrain—rocky, uneven, and etched with the footsteps of countless pilgrims over centuries. Clusters of devotees can be seen making their arduous ascent, some on foot, others on mules, wrapped in layers to protect against the biting mountain chill. Their faces reflect a blend of exhaustion and deep spiritual resolve. Makeshift stalls, fluttering prayer flags, and the occasional stone shrine dot the route, while the distant hum of chants and temple bells echo faintly through the cold, rarefied air. Rising behind them are the majestic snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas, glowing in the sunlight—silent, ancient witnesses to this timeless journey of faith.

The backdrop of the image—an expanse of towering Himalayan mountains—commands reverence. Among them, the Kedarnath Dome and Chaukhamba range rise with stoic elegance, forming a breathtaking curtain of ice and stone. These peaks not only define the geography but embody the spiritual magnitude of the place. The trail itself, though physically demanding, is more than a physical journey; it is a passage of inner awakening. The stark contrast between the raw, unforgiving landscape and the humble persistence of pilgrims creates an atmosphere of awe and quiet reflection. The air is thin, the temperature unforgiving, yet each step toward the Kedarnath temple is taken with unshakeable devotion and a belief in the divine power of Lord Shiva.

Steeped in legend, the history of Kedarnath dates back thousands of years. The temple, perched at 11,755 feet, is said to have been built by the Pandavas after the Kurukshetra war, and later revived in the 8th century by Adi Shankaracharya. It is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and holds immense importance in the Char Dham Yatra. Lord Shiva is believed to have vanished into the ground here in the form of a bull, leaving behind his hump—now enshrined within the temple. Despite enduring harsh weather and surviving the catastrophic 2013 floods, the temple stands strong, a symbol of faith and resilience. This photograph is more than a scenic memory—it captures a living tradition, where the ancient mountains, sacred myths, and enduring devotion come together in one powerful, timeless moment.

I have had this shot on my mind for a year. Finally I found what I was looking for, with a little time to spare and the camera in my lap...

The Pearle Hotel and Spa announced today it will open on Burlington's vibrant waterfront (3 Elizabeth Street) on November 1st, 2021.

The urban retreat just steps from Lake Ontario is designed by the award-winning design firm Studio Munge and emulates a modern lake house with elegant white oak panelling, tranquil views of the lake and the heart of downtown. Through thoughtful design, the 151 guest rooms and all public spaces reflect the richness of the changing Canadian seasons.

The luxurious, full-service spa is reminiscent of the arrival of spring, with a curated offering of rejuvenating treatments. Adjoining the spa, a Hammam steam room, an indoor swimming pool, and a state-of-the-art fitness facility adds to the guest experience.

The Pearle Hotel and Spa is home to two inventive, farm-driven dining options, with much of their offerings grown on Pearle Hospitality's own farm located 20 minutes down the road. Inspired by the vibrant, casual days of summer, The Pearle Hotel's restaurant Isabelle headed by Executive Chef Ben Heaton (formerly Patria, Mira, Byblos), has an expansive lakeside terrace with a weather-friendly patio destined to be a space for sharing and connecting with loved ones. The hotel will also house the fourth location of the popular Earth to Table: Bread Bar for high quality ingredient dishes and coffee with more casual cafe seating.

The hotel's exclusive event floor features elegantly designed event space totalling 10,000 square feet. With show stopping floor-to-ceiling windows, hand-blown fixtures by local artisans, and breathtaking lake views, The Pearle Hotel and Spa is the perfect venue for any event, from executive retreats to weddings — memorable moments are guaranteed.

The Pearle Hotel and Spa is inspired by the Ciancone family matriarch, grandmother Pearle, whose work ethic and spirit of hospitality remain deeply admired by her family today. Elegant and free of formality, The Pearle Hotel and Spa embodies and honours the founders' grandmother Pearle.

The daffodils in this still life photograph embody the essence of the spring equinox, as they reach their peak during this time of year. Their vibrant yellow hue is a symbol of the hope and joy that accompanies the emergence from the darker half of the year into the light. Their delicate petals seem to dance in the glow of the rustic miner's lamp, which casts a warm, inviting light on the scene. Alongside the daffodils sits a delectable treat - a rich and indulgent chocolate Tiffin, paired perfectly with a freshly brewed cup of coffee. This still life captures the essence of springtime: a celebration of new beginnings, renewal, and the simple pleasures of life.

Neuschwanstein embodies both the contemporaneous architectural fashion known as castle romanticism, and King Ludwig II's enthusiasm for the operas of Richard Wagner. At the time of King Ludwig's death the palace was far from complete. He slept only 11 nights in the castle.

Because eggs embody the essence of life, people from ancient times to the modern day have surrounded them with magical beliefs, endowing them with the power not only to create life but to prophesy the future.

Eggs symbolize birth and are believed to ensure fertility. They also symbolize rebirth, and thus long life and even immortality.

Eggs represent life in its various stages of development, encompassing the mystery and magic of creation. Creation myths commonly describe how the universe was hatched from an egg, often laid by some mythical water bird swimming in the primordial waters...Early mythmakers viewed both the sun and the egg as the source of all life; the round, yellow yolk even symbolized the sun.

Clearly, eggs had great symbolic potential...In Europe of pagan and Christian times, eggs symbolized life and resurrection.

This C.Y. Fashion MEGAN Top & Shorts Fatpack embodies what I would term as "edgy" fashionista style. Yes, this edgy '80s trend has resurfaced, and apparently fashion girls here in SL are loving it.

If you happen to follow fashion bloggers here or on Instagram, then you certainly see them wearing more fishnet tights with denim shorts. This combo looks so stylishly hip, yet many women are reluctant to try it. What has prompted this reluctance is the degree of streetwear bordering or associated with this somewhat scandalizing look, rather than avant-garde or just women expressing themselves.

Fashion here in SL isn't all about being risqué or a saint. Instead, it's about exploring the millions of options that lie between those two boundaries. This C.Y. Fashion Megan outfit is one such example.

Sunsets embody the delicate balance between endings and beginnings, safety and vigilance, light and shadow. As the day melts into night, the world pauses in a moment of transition, inviting us to reflect on life’s own complexities. On one hand, the sunset offers serenity—a sense of closure to the day’s endeavors. Its warm, fading hues paint the sky with tranquility, reminding us to slow down, appreciate beauty, and find peace in the inevitable cycles of life. There’s comfort in the rhythm of sunsets; they ground us and signal rest, a sanctuary from the busyness of existence.

Yet, as the light fades, the shadows grow longer, and with them comes the mystery and uncertainty of night. The sunset is also a harbinger of change, a reminder that darkness must follow even the brightest days. In its fleeting beauty lies a truth we all wrestle with: the moments of peace we cherish are often paired with challenges that require us to stay vigilant, adaptable, and ready to face the unknown. Just as sunsets fade into the unknown territory of night, life asks us to navigate transitions, uncertainties, and choices that test our resolve.

Life, like the sunset, is a duality—a blend of calm and chaos, certainty and mystery. It’s a balance of embracing moments of joy and comfort while preparing for the struggles and questions that lie ahead. Sunsets teach us that beauty exists not just in the light, but in its interplay with shadow. They remind us to savor the fleeting moments of peace while understanding that the darker hours are just as much a part of the journey. In this duality, both sunset and life find their profound meaning.

The monument erected here to his memory takes the form of an Anglian Cross, embodying the ornament and general treatment of the Northumbria of Cædmon's time, as shewn in the four great contemporary crosses of Bewcastle, Ruthwell, Rothbury, and Hexham, erected towards the end of the seventh century. The Caedmon Cross, standing twenty feet high, is hewn out of the fine grained hard sandstone of the Black Pasture Quarry in Northumberland. Upon its front are carved panels of the Christ in the act of blessing, of David playing the harp, of the Abbess Hild, and of Cædmon in the stable inspired to sing his great song. On the arms of the Cross above are the symbols of the four evangelists, and the Agnus Dei in the centre. Below is the inscription: "To the Glory of God, and in memory of His servant Cædmon. Fell asleep hard by A.D. 680."

This embodies my summer.

Me and the nature.

This just reminds me of a Hollister campaign or something.

This work embodies a combination of simplicity and extreme contrast. Primarily in black and white, a single, thin streak of light pierces the darkness, dividing the image into two halves. The shimmering water below creates a striking contrast between light and dark and the deep night sky above, creating a minimalist yet powerful visual effect that conveys both tranquility and depth. The image lacks any specific objects or figures, simply the vast expanse of water and sky, evoking a sense of openness and tranquility. The shimmering water adds a sense of dynamism without diminishing the depth and tranquility of the overall composition. The extreme simplicity and lack of clear visual references allow the viewer to freely imagine the source of the streak of light (e.g., moonlight, lamplight) and the nature of the water, lending the work a sense of mystery and endless scope for imagination.

This four shot panoramic embodies North Dakota. To those that prefer the hustle and bustle of the city life this may seem drab, but those that love the plains and have a rich history in North Dakota understand that scenes like this make this state great. A storage silo represents the hard work and perseverance it took to start a new life here in this country. The open sky and field testify of the peace of mind that come along with the hard work. “The dragonfly spiritually embodies the stripping away of negativity that holds us back, helping us to achieve our dreams and goals. Dragonflies are the keepers of dreams, the energy within that sees all of our true potential and ability. Dragonflies inspire spirituality and creativity, they help us on the path of discovery and enlightenment. They reminder us that anything is possible.” – Beauty and the Green

This girl embodies everything I love about Blythe. She is from a dream land where ethereal characters come to life to spread a little joy.

Nagakura Kenichi treats bamboo as a purely sculptural medium. He creates unconventional, organic forms, sometimes accented with pieces of found wood and coated with finishes of his own creation. Nagakura spent years learning traditional bamboo techniques from his grandfather before innovating his own style. Bamboo, says the artist, is an ideal material to express nature: “Bamboo can be either delicate like a spider web or solid as stone, thus embodying the natural cycles of the world.”*
