We hadn’t really bargained for a bulging car park here on Christmas Eve. Why wasn’t everyone else charging about in a frenzy, picking up an extra jar of cranberry sauce and having punch ups in the supermarket aisles over the last tray of pigs in blankets? Why weren’t they worrying about whether there were enough crackers or sprouts for the dinner table the next day? I ignored the queue and snuck off to the right into the top car park, which at first seemed to be a bad move until an elderly couple came strolling towards me with intent. “Are you about to leave?” I asked through a wound down window. “Yes, we’re just here,” the man pointed to a parked car five yards behind me. Fortune favours the inventive. Five minutes later, as I walked down through the melee, apologetic volunteers told waiting drivers that the place was full. “We’ll get you in as soon as possible,” I heard a lady say to a bored looking man who was stuck in a growing tailback that threatened to block the road down to the King Harry Ferry. At least I was in, although it was very busy indeed. At her suggestion I’d come here to meet my daughter and two year old granddaughter for a spot of lunch and a slow amble around our local National Trust garden. At least once inside the grounds, things seemed a bit more relaxed. None of us cope well with Christmas. It all goes a bit too crazy as far as we’re concerned. People spending money they can’t afford on things that other people neither need nor want. “Did you keep the receipt?” Ali and I find it all a lot less stressful now that we no longer buy each other presents. One of my cousins is in the Witnesses, and while I don’t share her religious convictions, our views on the festive season don’t seem to be that far apart. Call me Mr Grinch if you like. If you enjoy this time of year, that’s great - all I ask is to be allowed to sit on the sidelines with a note from Matron.
After lunch, when a very small person needed to go home before the danger nap hour arrived, I was determined to grab a bit of time to myself before surrendering to the madness. And this was a place where I’d once come to directly from work, immediately after the end of my last ever autumn term, on an afternoon where I’d seen a couple of possibilities that nobody else appeared to have spotted before. On that drab December day I took shots that promised more than they delivered, and resolved to return with a longer lens and in better conditions. Now, four years and one day later, I was back again. The clock had not long struck two in the afternoon, sunset was a little after four, and Ali had given me a shopping list for Tesco in Truro before six. Which included pigs in blankets. But they had to be nice ones because we were dining with her family the next day. Twelve people in one space with all of those awful Christmas songs bouncing off the walls and rattling between my ears. I refer you to the last few sentences of the first paragraph.
I digress - back to those two compositions I’d seen but never returned to in all this time. The first of them was proving to be rather frustrating. Try as I did, it needed a fast shutter and wasn’t working, so with daylight starting to run out, I moved from the beach and up the slope to the other, where the matching headlands on the east side of the Fal Estuary lay bathed in softly glowing winter light. Last time I tried, it was a tight one to compose with some distractions coming in from the right, but now I had the extra options that the big lens offered, and I was sure this was going to be the time to finally get the shot I’d had in my mind’s eye for so long. With up to four hundred millimetres at my disposal, isolating the twin headlands seemed straightforward enough.
So imagine my surprise when it quickly dawned on me that the distraction wasn’t a distraction at all. That instead of the minimal appeal of a long exposure on the two promontories alone, one with the foreground section on the right might add an element of balance that I hadn’t really considered before. A faster exposure allowed the scene to come alive with the inclusion of the gulls. Of course I tried each option, with exposures both short and long. I liked this one the most. When I think back to this Yuletide season, I won’t linger on parlour games and that tiresome Slade song that I’ve now had to endure for fifty-two (count them!) consecutive Christmases. Instead, this is where you’ll find me - standing alone in a peaceful place, and only faintly worrying about whether the local Tesco will have run out of pigs in blankets or if there are enough sprouts in the fridge for us to make it through to the new year without starving.

(that is, to bring Christ down) 7 "or 'Who will descend into the deep?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

This is a small cascade just down from Summerhill force in Upper Teesdale, taken during a waterfall hunting spree in the Yorkshire Dales, the beautiful green hues casting a Kryptonite glow on the surface of the water. You’ll be thrilled to know that there are lots of waterfalls in this region!
The track below is taken from the final scene of the film ‘Another Round’, the story of 4 college lecturers who explore the theory of psychiatrist Finn Skårderud that the human body is born with a blood alcohol level 0.05% too low, quite a sobering thought!
I loved the film, it stars Mads Mikkelson, so what’s not to like. The four main characters agree to conduct a little experiment: they will stay moderately drunk throughout the day to see how it affects their social and professional performance, with interesting and somewhat predictable results, but all in the name of research of course.
It's Danish with English subtitles so you can feel erudite and sophisticated as you relax on the sofa cradling a taxidermied stoat-wrapped bottle of ‘Brewdog, End of the World’ whilst munching on artisanal hand-crafted truffle crisps!

So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

The alarm chimes in at 3:00 am at our Dzongri campsite. I slowly slither out of the tight strait jacketed sleeping bag, yes like a snake shedding its skin & wonder who else wakes up at this unearthly hour. My tent-mate Sanjay Hosali is still asleep but his aircraft idling on the runway like snores makes me jump outta the tent in a flash. Complete darkness surrounds me. I realize it is our Hindu New year & I whisper Happy New year to my family a good 1200 kilometers away. The Mercury reads a few notches below freezing and I pull my four layers of clothing closer to the skin. The sky has cleared up all the fog & mist of the earlier evening & the hike to the Dzongri Top to have our first eyeful of the grand Mount Kanchenjunga looks promising.
Our group assembles in half an hour & we start the early morning grind up to the Dzongri Top. The long line of headlight-bearing zombies silently walk in a single file up the mountain. No one is talking or singing like the previous noon hike. It is too freaking cold & spooky. I stop periodically, get my racing pulse rate down, inhale & exhale ten times & continue to climb up the mountain. The younger lot slowly overtakes me one by one. In spite of the Type A Personality that I am otherwise, here on the mountain I do not get annoyed at them outdistancing me. The mountain teaches you to be patient! It does! :D
The double hill climb is a long drawn one & needs some careful steps as there is a deep fall on the left. The dawn slowly glows from the eastern banks of the Himalaya. It is almost an hour & a half or maybe more. I hear the squeals of joy as our group has summited the Dzongri Top. I stop for the last time, look at the light around, wipe the frozen sweat, or maybe the nose dribble off my lips & pump up that last bit of Adrenaline & Testosterone through my engorged veins & speed up.
13,630 feet. Dzongri Top at last. The mighty Kanchenjunga & his family of massifs break into applause. I take a bow in front of these majestic mountains as I quickly set my tripod.
Lots of photographs quickly get registered on the memory card but the one that will stay with me for a long time is this photo of two trekkers returning back from the frosty top, somehow symbolizing the ups & downs of life.

Goa is more acclaimed for its flamboyant music and dance and the spirit of happiness then for anything else.
You have all kinds of music permeating the state of Goa from its local Konkani to the international trends of trance and oft times,lamentably, the Britney Spears variety of popular music performed by some Goan bands. Jazz as is usual does not have a vast popular audience but there are some earnest believers in that genre of music.
Jazz in Goa is in a state of creative ferment with the efforts of the Amando Gonsalves and his merry band of jazz organisers

Saskia Laroo was performing in Goa on the night of 7th December 2008, soon after the Bombay terrorist carnage on 26the November. She is magic on the trumpet and as I said earlier, a consummate artist.

As everywhere else, during the summer the locomotives equipped with electric heating were overhauled, so heavy mainline freight diesels served also as passenger haulage. Here, ST43-355 from Żagań depot with D-train (fast one) no. 67101 "Bóbr" from Wrocław Główny to Żary arrives at Żagań station. May 2, 2000, actually the second day after heating season. The scheduled locomotive SU46 for this train has simply broke down.

SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST - ALONE!

16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the SALVATION of everyone WHO BELIEVES: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a RIGHTEOUSNESS FROM GOD IS REVEALED, a righteousness that is by FAITH FROM FIRST TO LAST, just as it is written: "THE RIGHTEOUS WILL LIVE BY FAITH." 16 KNOW that a man is NOT justified by observing the law, but by FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be JUSTIFIED BY FAITH in CHRIST and NOT by observing the law, BECAUSE BY OBSERVING THE LAW NO ONE WILL BE JUSTIFIED. (Galatians 2:16)

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11)

1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. 4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 "or 'Who will descend into the deep?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:1-13)
Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️
