We had the mother of all electircal storms tonight and I spent 3 hours with me ole mate Kelv just staring at it (oh, and taking photos of it as well). It was just incredible. Reminds you just how small us humans really are when it comes to mother nature...

Got this 'official' response from the local utilities company:

Thank you for contacting Springs Utilities. We take pride in our continued reputation of delivering great utility service and being your first and best source of utility information.

The white clouds in the photo consist only of water vapor. Power plants use water to cool the steam after it has gone through the turbine to generate power. The actual exhaust from burning the coal exits the plant through the

stack - the tall, chimney. Colorado Springs Utilities burns low-sulfur coal and removes most of the particulates from coal plant exhaust. In addition, we are testing some groundbreaking technology that promises to greatly reduce power plant exhaust emissions at a fraction of the cost of industry-standard emissions reduction equipment.

Here are some Internet links for information on the efforts Springs Utilities makes to maintain a high air quality from it's power plants.

Description: View looking through the shop window showing a display of a variety of electrical goods, including jugs, stoves, refrigerators, lamps, toasters, mix-masters, kettles and light fittings. The shop windows have leadlight inserts decorating the top part of the frames and the light fittings hanging inside the shop are Art Deco style, as is a small wall bracket on the back wall. There is another light fitting fastened to the ceiling of the awning on the footpath. Two Hecla advertisements are placed one each side of the window, which has an image of a woman holding different appliances.

By the way of electrical manipulation, I have assembled some very rare pieces. A photo of actress Bette Davis handing out smokes and matches to the service men, along with "her" matchbooks, armband and her card.

Bette Davis was the brains behind the Hollywood Canteen, which was located at 1451 N. Cahuenga Boulevard. All ya needed to get in was a uniform. Free food and entertainment by Hollywood's greatest performers and talent. What a place it must have been for so many to see their favorite film stars for the first (and some the last) time. Dance with them and be served by them.

I only wish these items were mine, someday I'd love to at least find a matchbook.

Hope this collage is enjoyed by all.

One of a sequence of recently commissioned artwork decorating the electrical junction boxes along Pratt Street in downtown Baltimore. This one at the intersection with Howard Street is by the local arts group, Creative Nomads, and features a Baltimore Orioles hero - alas I don’t who. Perhaps a Flickrite O’s fan could enlighten me?

"The sea it swells like a sore head and the night it is aching

Two lovers lie with no sheets on their bed

And the day it is breaking

You're in my mind all of the time

I know that's not enough

If the sky can crack there must be someway back

For love and only love "

A few more Covid-19 pandemic photos from my daily walk.

I came across a Chatham Avenue in the Danforth-Greenwood-Donlands neighbourhood. Then I saw a typical Eastern grey squirrel (I know, it is often black) running along an overhead electrical power line. I don't know about other cities or places, but in downtown Toronto, this is a common sight. The squirrels have long learnt that it's generally safe to walk / run along overhead power lines between trees. It saves them the troubles of going down a tree, crossing the busy sidewalk/ path/ pavement/ footpath and streets and climbing back up another tree. No dangerous encounter of cats, dogs, urban foxes or cars too.
