Is it my poor memory or is this the first time Californians have had three elections in a single year? At any rate, it's not my imagination that I have gotten more junk mail over this secondary primary than for any previous election—76 mailings in all, not including the actual sample ballot or mail-in ballot.
The biggest offenders?
Wilma Chan: 10 mailings (incl. 2 anti-Hancocks that never mention Chan)
Brian Rogers: 9
Loni Hancock: 8 (incl. 1 anti-Chan which never mentions Hancock)
Tony Thurmond: 8
Nancy Skinner: 7
While I might excuse Chan and Hancock for running in a close race for the most important seat at stake this election (State Senator), Rogers is running for Oakland School Board, and Skinner is billing herself as the environmentalists' choice for Hancock's old seat in the Assembly.
Thurmond, though, gets brownie points for his ghetto-fabulous 30-dpi mugshot on the California Legislative Black Coalition card.
