In photoshop I made a duplicate layer selected image, adjustments, posterize, level 4, the background was black I used the magic wand to select the black background, filter. filter gallery select one you like, apply it, paint brush, color. I chose dark red then paint it, burn tool darken the corners, render, lighting effects, soft spotlight, Gaussian Blur 30%. That's how you can mess up a perfectly good portrait but it was fun.

Funny light effects in cupola window, with a hint of an aurora, some sunrise and the red light I use at night to not disturb my cameras when they take pictures for a timelapse or a long exposure. It’s my usual night hangout !! Nope, no music and drinks up here, only the light effects, and me with my camera 😁

I use Adobe Photoshop CS4 but most all versions of Photoshop should have all these features. I am making the assumption that you already have a good understanding of how Photoshop works and how to set up layers and such. If not, there are plenty of tutorials on that elsewhere.
I'm not claiming that this is the best way to do this. This is just the way I do it. There are a ton of different ways to get the same results in Photoshop.
This is the last tutorial I have planned this week. If you have any other ideas or things you would like me to cover in a tutorial, let me know.

I came across a technique to make flame effects using a hot glue gun so I'm trying it out. I'm cutting up used clear plastic packaging and using that as a form for the glue. Very hit and miss at the moment but it's got potential, there are different techniques to play with. Once it's painted it will look better (unpainted effects might be cool to try for Barbeque's foam gun).
You can buy painted flame effects but for $30 (which is 2/3 the price of an actual action figure) I'll try to do it with what I have on hand. I have in mind using them with primarily Barbeque (above) and Macready, the T-800 and xenomorphs but it could go with anything I suppose.
Barbeque is a great figure btw, damn he looks good. I was on the fence but glad I picked him up. I hadn't seen any Cobra Island Joes here in Australia and figured we just weren't getting any of them so it was "A surprise to be sure but a pleasant one".
Thanks to Brick Print I was able to add these printed bricks to the Stoom Stichting Nederland LEGO 01 1075.
This entire model is made in scale 1:45. It's powered by 2 L-motors in the boiler which gives it a realistic and propper steam locomotive speed. The locomotive is controlled by a Pfxbrick which has a XL speaker for sounds effects. The locomotive is 67 studs long and 8 studs wide.
The reall one is currenly at rhe SSN in Rotterdam near my home village. It is the fastest steam locomotive in the Netherlands. It's able to reach speed up to 140 km/h.
The model took my around a year to built. I did have a older version which was 98% Habricks.com design. That model has now been scraped and completly rebuild into this monster.
The costum driving rods are from Bricks-on-Rails.com.
