Joined a meet-up on 06.28.14 and went to Dead Horse Bay, the first stop of our trip. The place got its name when horse-rendering plants still surrounded the beach. At the turn of the century, the marsh of Dead Horse Bay began to be used as a landfill. Even with the trash heap capped, the trash spew forth onto the beach. Since then garbage has been leaking continually onto the beach, most of these bottles, and into the ocean from Dead Horse Bay.
There weren't that many bottles when we were there when I compared it to some pictures taken at the site. I think this was the effect of hurricane Sandy which probably took most of the bottles to the sea.
This jagged light trail effect was achieved by my picking my camera off the ground just before the shutter closed, which i did in an entirely deliberate fashion and in no way is this shot a cock-up that just randomly turned up an effect I like :)

Some things are not what they seem...
You might think that I took picture of some sunflower seeds, but actually these ones are hand made and each piece is unique in its way... The seeds are made by porcelain and are millions in number.
You can see this exhibition at Tate Modern Museum, London.
Sunflower Seeds is the latest of a number of works that Ai has made using porcelain, one of China's most prized exports. These have included replicas of vases in the style of various dynasties, dresses, pillars, oil spills and watermelons. Like those previous works, the sunflower seeds have all been produced in the city of Jingdezhen, which is famed for its production of Imperial porcelain. Each ceramic seed was individually hand-sculpted and hand-painted by specialists working in small-scale workshops. This combination of mass production and traditional craftsmanship invites us to look more closely at the 'Made in China' phenomenon and the geopolitics of cultural and economic exchange today.
Thank you everyone for watching and comments :)
Taken early morning the other day i wanted to do try something different.Ive been reading about a photographer Michael Orton who in the mid 1980`s came up with a technique which blends two completely different photos of the same scene...one sharp and one soft, resulting in a distinctive mix of high and low detail areas within the same photo, hence the name the 'Orton Effect'
I'm not a fan of the Dragan Effect and I didn't have my previous subject available today for another go at the technique. Only model available and isn't she cute?
