Hamburg, NY- Members of the 174th Attack Wing, Syracuse, NY, patrol the streets here today. The Airmen were activated to help with relief efforts in Erie County due to the recent lake effect snow storm. The mission is still in progress around the area with more than 500 service members activated.
This always happens to me when I walk around in the developing world, and to me it is one of the defining experiences of my international service work. The children gather around, following me down the path, calling to me in little sing song voices, using the 5 words of English that they know, and giggling at me as I try to speak to them in their own language.
Though I joined Flickr in 2007 and have mostly posted chronologically going forward (though I have now fallen 4 months behind!), I posted this tonight to celebrate the launch of the Hello, Indonesia! group on Flickr.
It's been nearly 6 years since the Tsunami......these little ones are teenagers now....they certainly wouldn't be following me around with such curious adoring expressions if I went back now.....

We often get confused between our attachment to and our involvement in a situation. Most often we do not even differentiate at all between the two, leading us to the wrong conclusion that they invariably go together.
Joseph O’Connor made a differentiation between involvement and attachment. By involvement he meant the ability and willingness to affect a situation, while attachment signifies how much the outcome affects you, how much you identify with something. It is a different way of looking at whether you feel “at cause” or “at effect” of a situation, but maybe more clearly delineates the two orthogonal states of mind.

Here again the title is issue of an "old" "french ???" reference...
In fact the kiss cool effect was (issue from an advertissement) a way to explain that beyond the desired effect to refresh your breathe when you were eating KissCool, you felt an other extra unforeseen feeling. This unforeseen effect whatever it was, was named "KissCool Effect".
Now you understand what is the KissCool Effect of my Fruit Week :( In "bonus" you can try to guess how many toilet papers i use this week (i know this is creepy :). Note about this photo : it was a set up a bit tricky for the lights. Note about this week : it was a great experience to work in series mode
Version FR :
Water is pumped out of the effected areas back over the Valley Park levee on the Merrimac River., December 31, 2015. Soldiers and airmen with the Missouri National Guard, volunteered to support the Missouri Department of Transportation in flood relief efforts in south central Missouri. The focus of the aid is to ensure traffic control, water purification and levee reinforcement in affected areas.(Missouri Air National Guard photo by Senior Airman Patrick P. Evenson/Released)
Best viewed small. I think this is one of those images that has the most effect when viewed small.
