The Valdosta-Lowndes Retired Educators Association meeting was held on Monday, October 8, 2012 at the Holiday Inn in Valdosta, GA. The legislators were present to answer questions before the business meeting and delicious lunch buffet was enjoyed by many.

Schools and educators need to develop a fuller understanding of the diversity of the AAPI community if they want their students to thrive.
That was one of the main points our Co-Executive Director Vanessa Leung made last week at the Institute for Educational Leadership's 2023 National Community Schools and Family Engagement Conference where she was a featured speaker at the Carnegie Corporation of New York-sponsored panel entitled "Embodying Allyship: Proactively Partnering With Immigrant Families for Student Success.” Vanessa also stressed the importance of collaborating and building strong relationships with community-based organizations working on the ground in AAPI communities, who have a critical and more holistic sense of the needs of their communities., where she was a featured speaker on a panel entitled "Embodying Allyship: Proactively Partnering With Immigrant Families for Student Success.” Vanessa also stressed the importance of collaborating and building strong relationships with community-based organizations working on the ground in AAPI communities, who have a critical and more holistic sense of the needs of their communities.
We’re sending our gratitude to the Carnegie Foundation for inviting us to participate in this year’s Summit. We also learned so much from our fellow panelists at Chapman University, Building Skills Partnership, Brockton Public Schools, and ImmSchools and look forward to continuing these conversations.
