On April 20, Pennsylvania educators' visited Fort Belvoir, first stop was the Family Housing Welcome Center. The U.S. Army Harrisburg Recruiting Battalion sponsored 24 Pennsylvania educators' and community leaders' during April 18-21, 2011 for the 2011 U.S. Army Educators' and Community Leaders' Tour to the Military District of Washington including visits to the Pentagon, Fort Myer and Fort Belvoir. The annual Retiree Reception was held at 4:00 pm April 25 at the Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts on Patterson Street. VLREA invited all teachers at the public schools in Valdosta, Lowndes and Echols counties and educators at VSU, GMC and Wiregrass. The reception is held to honor each of the local public educators who are retiring at the end of the school year or those who have retired during the present school year. The reception for retirees has been held since the early 1990s.

Jim Miller was an educator, agitator, film maker, writer, and pain in the ass. It was Jim Miller whose response to the Bi-Centennial cash in was to produce and sell a t-shirt advocating America should rejoin the Empire, "Not to late to Repatriate, His Most Generous King George the 3rd", a book about ducks printed on water proof paper so you could wade in the water with the ducks. He did whatever he could do to make you uncomfortable for your own good. He was a great subversive. Hello-Goodbye Jim where ever you are.
Every year, the College of Education hosts a back-to-school thank-you reception for Pullman-area educators, in particular the Pullman School District, with whom the college has had a special relationship for a number of years. This year's event took place at South Fork on August 22.

Terell Stafford teaches an Educator Track class: Teaching Improvisation II. Educators often say that improvisation is the most challenging aspect of jazz to teach. These sessions will give you specific information you can use in your classroom.. A lab combo will be there to demonstrate. Educators are also welcome to play, but are not required to.
