Thomas Edison invented his light bulb in the upstairs room of his Menlo Park laboratory. An exciting moment!

Read the EULA. Tom didn't just want to protect his IP, he wanted to set market price-floors too. The rascal.
One of Henery Ford's good friends was Thomas Edison. So much so that there is an undenyable tribute to the man here at Greenfield Village.

The new edison bulbs fascinate me. Their orange glow seemed to be the perfect object for this weeks challenge of 'creative orange'. This photo was taken of a bulb under a bulb, o a glass table outside in the garden during sunset
Edison Corp. had this magnificent Mack Cruise Liner running for them in October 1977 when I snapped it in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Once you get above the first floor restaurant of the Edison Hotel (built in 1935), the classic Art Deco threes appear: three floors, three sections. In addition, the windows in the center protruding section are in three stacks.
I love the way the orange '55 Chevy plays off of the restaurant's orange umbrellas.

Believe it or not, this photograph was inspired by cleaning up my darkroom. That's also the reason for the seriously long exposure, I don't have much light in the darkroom.
An actor impersonates Thomas Alva Edison. Just to inform you, this actor looks very much like the young Edison. He was nicknamed "The Wizard of Menlo Park" because of his many inventions. Edison was not the first to "invent" the light bulb, but he was the first to make the light bulb "practical." He had the philosophy that one should never give up and that every failure brought a person closer to the success he desired.
Born in Ohio, Edison grew up in Port Huron, Michigan. Henry Ford was an admirer and friend of Edison. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Edison
Hace tiempo pude ver una foto de Thomas Edison portando una bombilla ; en mi opinión; muy curiosa. Poco después la encontré y decidà adquirirla para poder retratarla.

Edison Bulbs have become very popular in lighting these days. This one is an LED and is seated in one of my favorite light fixtures. A cobbled together lamp I created from parts at work.

Extremely rare pre-war "Edison Electronic Voicewriter"- it records sound on a spinning wax cylinder- found in Sam's Castle in Pacifica, CA. Built in 1908, it's a huge house that's been closed up for a number of years after the owner's death. Dark and musty inside, the place feels like a set for a '50s Vincent Price haunted house movie. Thanks to 4PIZON for the access.
Night, completely dark room, 10 second exposure. Natural and red-gelled flashlight.
