French singer and actor Eddy Mitchell (1942) began his career in the late 1950s, with the rock & roll group Les Chaussettes Noires (The Black Socks). He went solo in 1963 and also played in a many films. In numerous black and white French musical comedies of the 1960’s he appeared as himself fronting his band. His ‘real’ acting career started with Coup de torchon (1981). After a career of 50 years Mr. Eddy has become the tranquil daddy of French rock & roll.

My friend says that Eddy is very ill, but because he doesn't KNOW that he's ill, he is a very, very happy, contented dog. I think we can learn a lot from animals this way...
I met Eddy at the homeless shelter this morning during breakfast (more info on the local shelter I work at a couple of images back). He arrived a couple of days before Christmas. He will be a lifer on the streets which breaks my heart! He has already hooked up with a woman named Venus.....! :)
In the 60's and 70's Eddy was a "carny", a gypsy-like nomad that followed carnivals around while working odd jobs for them. He mostly assembled and disassembled the carnival rides in each new town....he explained to me how grueling the work was! It required hoisting huge fiberglass "buckets" or cars onto the ride and locking them into place with giant pins....hundreds of pounds were lifted several times a ride! His other job was to climb to the tops of the rides and change light bulbs....with out a harness to hold him if he fell!
He is homeless today because of bad luck and bad choices! The manufacturing plant he used to work at shut down back east a few years ago so he came west with all of his $ in his pocket to find work! He got stuck in Arizona...imprisoned for a short time for robbery i think and then finally made his way to California! He is hopeful.....his chin is up...there is a light in his eyes!
I really got to like Eddy today.....very sweet! He kept telling me how thankful he was to have someone to listen and not judge....today was an emotional day for me in that respect! Must be the season!
Who knows how things will change for this Los Angeles 1933 prohibition speakeasy and the last skid row dive bar....... the joint has been sold and gentrification and hipsters are sure to follow....... catch it before it happens because the King Edddy will close Dec 16th
Shooting promopics for Rachel Eddy today and on a couple more occasions within the next few weeks. Before she leaves Stockholm to move back to West Virginia.
A real luxury really! You get to hang with this great person and incredibly talented musician, listen to some good music, shoot some pictures and get paid. I love my job!
