More than any other stranger I have added to this project I have hesitated over this shot. This is Eddy who was sitting outside a cafe nursing an empty cup of tea when I spotted him. I almost walked on by, I really wasn't sure about approaching him to take part in this project, but I wanted to chat to him, to listen to his story, to see if he would allow me to buy him another cup of tea. So I did stop and ask if I could join him, and as is so often the case, he gave a lovely smile and replied "of course". I spent quite a long time chatting to Eddy, telling each other stories of our lives, laughing occasionally, and I listened intently as he spoke, stories of fun and a few of hardship.

I guess the reason I hesitate posting this shot is the initial impact of the shot on the viewer, if like me you have made a judgement about him then you are partly right and partly wrong. I won't relate his tale, but it is sad and rewarding at the same time, suffice to say he has lived a full and colourful life so far.

As for the processing, this is the forth attempt at the shot I have toyed with, the colour versions seem to emphasise a story or character that wasn't the man I met.

Was he happy to talk, "I sit alone at home and chat to the TV for company a lot of the time. People think I'm mad, I just like to talk and keep my mind active."

I hope we meet again Eddy.

From a cycle down to Daft Eddy's

These eddies created quite an hypnotic light show in the water.

When I visited Upper Proxy Falls, the waterfall itself was nothing special, but the slowly swirling water in the basin at the bottom made for an interesting long-exposure shot. The water was shallow here so you can see sticks and things on the bottom, while leaves and other debris on the surface swirled, creating a whirlpool effect.

The busway follows the route of the GNR line and now crosses Church Street on the level. The pub was finally demolished in 2015.

Eddy is special and he knows it.

The first thing you notice about him, from a distance, is that he is massive. Easily 120 pounds, perhaps much more. He is a German Shepherd mix. His owner thinks he may have a bit of wolf in him, from his behavior.

He radiates self-confidence, even charisma. It was hard to choose which photo of him to process.

A funny thing is, he is afraid of Freddy, the five-pound Yorkie. Eddy doesn't know what to make of him!

So after all those "peace talks" they finally decided to kill each other. Does it surprise me? No--Each side is threatened by the other, I mean Supes looked like he wanted to tear that Spangly ones head off. I'm sure there are some like me, but for the most part...it's going to be a blood bath. Now I have no problem with that, but for some reason I cant shake this feeling that someones watching us. Almost like were on some television show, and people are betting on who they thinks going to win. That could be all the drugs I used to take, but I seriously doubt that. And the best way to deal with a situation like this, get a drink! Nothing like some liquid encouragement--I walk to the nearest bar, a place called "Eddy's Alley!" not the best place for an establishment like this. If I had not been carrying a bow I most likely would have been mugged, but I'm not the only archer with a rep around here.

So I step inside, its a nice enough place, tiny, old, reeks of booze...but it's just the way any bonafide bar should be. There's only a few people here tonight, but the only one I care about is my long time buddy Hal Jordan.

"Son of a bitch, so I'm not the only one drinking in this shit hole tonight!" Hal shouted across the bar.

"We always had fine taste didn't we GL? Hahaha! I didn't know you were back, other wise I would'a lit the lantern up with a couple text messages."

"Well, officially I'm not back. Back on Oa things are bad man, Carol wanted take a break from all of that..." Hal muttered.

"But you didn't, did you?" Said Ollie.

"No, ever since Parallax happened I've been having to pull double duty to prove to everyone I'm not that monster anymore. But everyone still looks at me funny...I know how I would feel if it had been John or Kyle. It's not there fault." Responded Hal.

"Well have one on me. I know I"m gonna get wasted tonight!" Said Ollie, trying to make his best friend feel better.

"No, I'm gonna have to leave. No F.U.I for me. I'll keep in touch..." Jokingly Hal hit Oliver on the shoulder and left the building.

A tad bit depressed Oliver turned to the owner and says, "I'll take a bottle of Chardonnay, and that's it for now."

"Oh, okay. By the way, would you like a tube of lipstick with that drink?" He then proceeded to laugh obnoxiously.

"So it's going to be that type a night.." Oliver sighed.

A fan encouraging Eddy as he takes a drink during the 1976 Giro d'Italia..

Interesting to see all these locations, I was only aware of their East Ham and Romford premises. This one's come from their Chadwell Heath branch.

Eddy (stranger 28)

It was during a family weekend in a camping farm on the river De Oosterschelde that I met Eddy. The evening of my first day I wanted to climb the dike to view the river in the setting sun. At that moment Eddy came down the stairs of the dike, completely in his diving equipment. We got into a conversation because I was surprised that he had started diving in the dark. No, he said, it is always dark under water and we have a good lamp with us. I was allowed to take a picture of him. It was already dark and I used my flashlight. Unfortunately, you also see a traffic sign light up. In the distance you can see the line of the setting sun. Moments later, Eddy asked me if I wanted to send the photos to the diving school (The Ghent Dolphins) of which he is chairman. Of course I did that and he finds his photos beautiful, sure and sure.
