Some more fun with the light and shadow around Central Station. Eddy Avenue is one of the main side entrances to Central Station, a sprawling train station where intercity and country trains meet up with the city network.
Montana Rail Link's Gas Local winds its way along the Clark Fork River just west of Eddy, Montana, on MRL's 4th Subdivision. A tasty SD45-2M no. 346 leads the way

At the age of 22, just like Remco Evenepoel, he won Paris-Roubaix with Molteni in 1968 and afterwards the Giro d'Italia.
Here at his birthplace (across the street) in Meensel-Kiezegem. The friendly woman who lives there now (no relation) tells me that he was born on the kitchen table. Eddy confirms that and they give each other a hug and kiss. Right next to the house you can see a path up. As a little man, Eddyke always crawled up and down that mountain to a family member during the holidays. Not knowing that he was training his legs then...
"I've always said that Meensel-Kiezegem is the center of the world," says Merckx with a smile. "It feels wonderful to see the statue at the house where I was born. I only lived here for six months, but I returned to Meensel-Kiezegem every holiday."
I have started a project of scanning many old film negatives. This is slow work. I do a image then photoshop all the dust out from 2-4 hours each. I think the images will look better then when I first did them 20 odd years a go. I Don’t know if I will print any. This has been fun to get going on this. I think photography is a great way to time travel to the past. Im thinking of so many fun things I use to do. The photo is only about a 10th of what really happens when making them. I wish I could put all the stories of what happened to make each set I ever did. The stories would be long and funny or crazy. But I will just tell a small amount. Im not so good at writing about things.

The sea off Cape Wrath, the most north-westerley (and most remote) part of mainland Britain. Go north from here and the first land you reach will be the north pole.

Between Eddy and Thompson Falls, a Jimbo with MRL's flatback 290 skirts along the river as they make their way back to TF.
A "Jimbo" is heading back to Thompson Falls after dropping ties near Paradise for most of the day. The west end of the MRL sure was good while I was out there on vacation in March. The MRL 290 had been working the area, and there were even a pair of SD40-2's that were on the gas local while one of the newer ACe's were working a special over Mullan.
I know these patterns in the wood technically aren't the same as eddies in water, but still that is what it reminds me of.

This view was taken before my previous upload at the same location, but looking a different direction facing Mount Eddy. I find myself getting attached to a couple of views from this epic sunset that I will share with you in the coming days; hopefully you won’t get sick of them. The sky was changing constantly and I kept saying to myself, ‘It can’t get better than this,’ but it did. Most of you know that I uploaded my first vertorama last week and wasn’t too happy with results. Tomorrow I’ll be uploading my second vertorama from the same location and I hope you’ll like it as much as I do.
Hope everyone is having a terrific weekend and thank you for your support!

There were a few gentle eddies and waves in the clouds over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains this morning. Perhaps some good lenticular clouds will form later today.
I had the camera unknowingly set on low resolution which I discovered later. Dang, I hate when I do that!
Eddy had a nice reunion with his Mom, Soda, at the Indianapolis shows this weekend. I showed Eddy on Saturday and Sunday. We both still have a lot to learn (especially me), and he has some growing up to do, but we both had fun and are looking forward to the next time.
More than any other stranger I have added to this project I have hesitated over this shot. This is Eddy who was sitting outside a cafe nursing an empty cup of tea when I spotted him. I almost walked on by, I really wasn't sure about approaching him to take part in this project, but I wanted to chat to him, to listen to his story, to see if he would allow me to buy him another cup of tea. So I did stop and ask if I could join him, and as is so often the case, he gave a lovely smile and replied "of course". I spent quite a long time chatting to Eddy, telling each other stories of our lives, laughing occasionally, and I listened intently as he spoke, stories of fun and a few of hardship.
I guess the reason I hesitate posting this shot is the initial impact of the shot on the viewer, if like me you have made a judgement about him then you are partly right and partly wrong. I won't relate his tale, but it is sad and rewarding at the same time, suffice to say he has lived a full and colourful life so far.
As for the processing, this is the forth attempt at the shot I have toyed with, the colour versions seem to emphasise a story or character that wasn't the man I met.
Was he happy to talk, "I sit alone at home and chat to the TV for company a lot of the time. People think I'm mad, I just like to talk and keep my mind active."
I hope we meet again Eddy.
