Earthy-autumness below Dowsborough hill fort, on the Quantock hills near Dead Woman's Ditch in Somerset.

On a drive out, with picnic, came across the most beautiful sight, millions of Poppies, in the sunshine! A dream come true to find this sight/site!

Seared Morels, Sautéed Swiss Chard, Roasted Garlic & Herbed Goat Cheese

From my last trip here at the end of October and I thought it would look nice for Thanksgiving.

I'm thankful for the love of family, my two boys, caring friends, my two adorable dogs, secure employment, my own home (with gas heat!), a truck that gets me where I want to go, all the places I've been able to get to, everything I've been able to do with photography helping me to learn, grow, and get better with this passion, and to all my great Flickr friends, I'm so thankful for all of your continued encouragement and support. You've made this past year a great ride and a real joy for me! I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving wherever you are!

Thanks again for stopping by!

Today, I gave my angel her wings to fly to home. She was an incredible first dog. She is my best friend and my partner. She helped me move pass the fears of pain in my leg from my accident. She helped me get out and meet some amazing people along the way. I will forever be indebted to her for making me feel loved no matter what. I know there is more to write but I just can't right now. There will be more collages of time spent in the future. This is just from this year. So many memories in such a little time.

Bless you, Whimsy Woo. We will be together again very soon. I know it!

If I weigh my Amazon purchases against those from the thrift store, I’m hoping I come out carbon-neutral.

Is it oxymoronic to consider my outfit “earthy” when so much of it comes from overseas via Amazon? I’m hoping the secondhand vest and sandals balance things out.

Vest, Tinseltown (cut from a consignment jacket). Tank, Kamissy. Skirt, Wevez. Sandals, Birkenstock (thrifted). Brooches, thrifted or gifted. Necklace, Zad. Bag, Fossil.

Preview of the fall

Meherabad was dry clean and not as dusty as towns in India can get. A railway line ran straight through the scabrous brown patches of vegetation and mountainside.

Triumphant in an earthy red shirt and khaki pants and a Gandhi cap of white which had seen better days, stood the railway lineman waiting nonchalantly for the train to arrive at the level crossing of the road leading to the old house and samadhi of the Meher Baba.

Sparse traffic of a bullock cart or two, a few cars lined up on one side waiting.

A wonderful opportunity to set up a series of shots of the approaching train and the railwayman showing the manual red and green flags appeared heaven sent.

Armed with a wide angle lens and nifty adjustment of the aperture and shutter, reeled off a series right from the time here where the train is expected to later when the train whizzes by.

Faded flowers ...

Had a bit of free time during the daylight hours so I headed out with the dog and hunted down some potentially interesting subjects in the muddy fields. Got a bit carried away with some dead ferns...

Met up with Flickr friend Mark Van Dyke today. He took me to a couple cool places and we had a good day albeit cold!

Thanks for letting me 'steal' your vantage point Mark!
