The Laugavegur is a famous trekking route in South-West Iceland from the hot springs area of Landmannalaugar to the glacial valley of Þórsmörk . It is noted for the wide variety of landscapes on its 55 km (34 mi) path. The route is typically completed over 2–4 days with potential stops at the mountain huts at Hrafntinnusker, Álftavatn, Hvanngil and Emstrur. An ultramarathon is held on the route each July. It is possible to combine the trek with the Fimmvörðuháls route which goes over the pass from Þórsmörk to Skógar for an additional one or two days or an additional 25 km (16 mi). Landmannalaugar, Þórsmörk, and Skógar are all reachable by bus during the summer. A bus from Hella connects with Álftavatn once a day during the summer.

Or : National Bittersweet Chocolate with Almonds Day - nationaldaycalendar.com/national-bittersweet-chocolate-wi...

As each wave of water violently crashed against the rocks, the collision created a vigorous splash. In that moment, the strike turned bright white, while the rocks remained dark, lying in the shadows. Across the sea, clouds were gently colored, with a sliver of blue along the horizon.

However, getting to this spot was the most challenging part. Traversing the steep grade down, the loose moving gravel, and sharply barbed bushes, one had to move slowly and carefully. But, it was all worth it in the end, where incidentally, I did catch a barb.

Naadam Horses Race - Each Naadam includes at least one race of stallions, and at least three races for geldings. The distance traveled by the race is also dependent on the age of horses, 15 km for 2 years, 30 km for horses over 6 years.

Riders are always children, boys or girls, 6 to 12 years. Even if the rider falls during the race the horse is not disqualified. The first five horses are rewarded by people singing their praises, and they are sprayed with fermented mare's milk (airag). The colt which arrived last in the race is also distinguished with the people singing a song of encouragement.

I THINK IT'S WORTH VIEWING LARGE ON BLACK

for each rising of the sun

i learn step by little step

how not to walk in dreams

where you and i could not exist

there is freedom in accepting

though not without pain

that the walls of time and space

which separate you and me

are no longer imagined

my heart yearns no more

for being with

and step by little step

each rising of the sun

is bringing me back

closer to home

With each passing tide and each whispering breeze,

we embark on journeys, our spirits at ease.

Nature's wonders guide us, with its timeless lore,

as we step into the new year, ready to explore.

Each bud is 5-10mm in length. The Echeveria cactus is a rosette forming succulent plant with foliage that comes in a variety of shapes and colors. The flowers appear on the top of stalks that grow from between the leaves.

Echeveria is a large genus of flowering plants in the Crassulaceae family, native to semi-desert areas of Central America, from Mexico to northwestern South America. The genus is named after the 18th century Mexican botanical artist Atanasio Echeverría y Godoy.

Each shell a jewel, each grain a star,

Reflects the fading light afar,

The castle, proud, beneath the sky,

Wears sunset like a royal dye.

8th May 2020:

Today is VE Day but sadly the 75th Anniversary has been a very quiet one.

Izzy "Mum took my photo while I was sitting on the modem and TV box this morning, but she later went out for her permitted walk. Even though she took lots of other things she's still using me for today's photo. Mainly because she likes it, but also she said she couldn't decide which one of the others she took to use, as she liked them all."

Me: I love that I managed to get the light right so she has one blue/green eye and one orange one!

7th August 2021 :

I would have used my seascape photo for today, for the Weekly Theme of "Water."

But, when I found this on the window ledge in the entrance to the apartments it looked far more fun.

It's the light fitting from one of the bathroom cabinets, which someone has had removed.

27th February 2018:

We had a very light fall of snow overnight, which was mentioned on the weather forecast last night, although a lot less than predicted - sadly. I would have loved to woken up to a white garden.

A tiny bit of the snow on a leaf.

Each day offers us the gift of being a special occasion if we can simply learn that as well as giving, it is blessed to receive with grace and a grateful heart. Sarah Ban Breathnach

Vancouver House is a neo-futurist residential skyscraper in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Construction of the skyscraper began in 2016 and was expected to be finished by the end of 2019, but completion was postponed to summer of 2020.[2][3]

Design

Vancouver House was designed by Danish architect Bjarke Ingels and structural engineers Buro Happold and Glotman Simpson. The design is based on a triangle that rises from the ground and gradually transitions into a rectangle as it ascends to the top.[5] The design reflects the constraints of developing the triangular-shaped plot of land immediately east of the Howe Street on-ramp of the Granville Street Bridge.[6] The east and west facades of the building feature box-shaped balconies, giving the building's exterior a honeycomb texture.[7]

Spinning Chandelier, a public art piece, was installed near the skyscraper as part of the city's rezoning requirement.

Each year, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, there is a central feature which is a sculpture to celebrate a manufacturer or aspect of motor racing. Last year was a celebration of Aston Martin and featured a DBR1. It's a real car, drained of fluids.
