Ha was added to the Red channel then combined to produce an RGB image. Then Ha + OIII was used a luminance layer and OIII colour blue was layered though a masking process in Ps to create separation.

The Laugavegur is a famous trekking route in South-West Iceland from the hot springs area of Landmannalaugar to the glacial valley of Þórsmörk . It is noted for the wide variety of landscapes on its 55 km (34 mi) path. The route is typically completed over 2–4 days with potential stops at the mountain huts at Hrafntinnusker, Álftavatn, Hvanngil and Emstrur. An ultramarathon is held on the route each July. It is possible to combine the trek with the Fimmvörðuháls route which goes over the pass from Þórsmörk to Skógar for an additional one or two days or an additional 25 km (16 mi). Landmannalaugar, Þórsmörk, and Skógar are all reachable by bus during the summer. A bus from Hella connects with Álftavatn once a day during the summer. 129

Each year, these are the first flowers we see in our yard as spring arrives.

On my drive to work each day I would notice the mist rising beyond the guard rails, and then it would be gone. Next it would be a flash of red and gold, a glint of light would catch my eye and they too would be gone as I continued along the highway to work. I have always known that if I kept my camera in the car on the days driving to work, I would never arrive. So, last Fall I decided to take the time and stop along the main highways and the back roads and climb over the guard rails. What transpired was a series of images that are seldom noticed by the thousands who pass them every day. I call the series “Beauty Beyond the Barriers”. I hope you enjoy them.

The lovely textures used in this series are thanks to the beautiful work of Anna Lenabem and Jai Johnson.

A favourite album this time of year is George Winston's "Winter." While caught up in the bliss of the historical Ukrainian church in Redwater, AB with gigantic snowflakes falling past my lens, the clarity and detail of every note was unmistakable. How pristine the sight, and how perfect my recollection of these fine piano melodies.

2023 photo 18/347 I was hoping to see birds when I took a walk Wednesday around Abbott Lake at the Blue Ridge Parkway's Peaks of Otter. Instead I found a quiet landscape locked in winter dormancy. These frozen berries by the shore were the only splash of color. ©2023 | jmhudson1.com

The only poisonous snake in Sweden. It put me off doing gardening as it went in under the plants next to the house. First time I've seen one of these in the garden.

The Columbia Icefield is located in the Canadian Rockies astride the Continental Divide along the border of British Columbia and Alberta, Canada, the ice field lies partly in the northwestern tip of Banff National Park and partly in the southern end of Jasper National Park.[1][2] It is about 325 square kilometers (125 sq mi) in area, 100 meters (330 ft) to 365 metres (1,198 ft) in depth and receives up to 7 metres (280 in) of snowfall per year.

Each year at this time I try to photograph my first sighting of the wild flower Prairie Crocus - Anemone patens . It is also know as a pasque flower as it arrives right around Easter. Once again this year, it is right on time. We saw the first one on Good Friday.

I have been tracking the crocus appearance on Nose Hill for 15 years now. In 2016, I saw the first crocus on March 19. In 2020, it was as late as April 25.

When I'm not looking for wild flowers, you can find me on Twitter

2020 one photo each day

The evening light has come

It's obvious that they are meant to be together

They have been wondering

Where is he

Where is she

Was this it

And then suddenly the time was right

The Universe opened up

The light beamed its way down

They were both hit by it

Time flies when they are spending their precious time together

They like each other immensely

The chemistry is like electrified

It says ZAP if you go in between them

"May I have this dance, dear, may I have it forever?"

The answer is obvious

Each time you fall in love

It's clearly not enough

You sleep all day and drive out in L.A

It isn't safe

And each time you kiss a girl

You never know what it's worth

You say all of the words they wanna hear

It isn't real

She took you for a ride in summer baby

Lost all your money to her

All I wanna know is if you love her

How come you never give in

Each time you have a dream

You never know what it means

You see that open road and never know which way to go

And each time you fall in love

It's clearly not enough

You sleep all day and drive out in L.A

It isn't safe

She took you for a ride in summer baby

Lost all your money to her

All I wanna know is if you love her

How come you never give in

She lies in wait for the arrival of her goslings, each day constantly priming, preening and tiding up the nest. It won't be long now before three goslings will emerge from under those magnificent downy feathers, and make their way into the world.

Shortly after this photo was taken, that's exactly what happened.

"Each fall, white-crowned sparrows hop off branches in Alaska and begin journeys toward California, Arizona, New Mexico and west Texas. On their trip of several weeks, flying mostly at night, the tiny songbirds may cut back on their sleep by two-thirds....

Rattenborg and his colleagues wanted to see if the white-crowned sparrows that were sleeping less during migration were punch-drunk while awake, so they set up a test in which birds learned and repeated a three-response sequence of key pecks. The caged birds performed best on the test during fall migration time, when they were getting the least sleep....

When urges to migrate kick in, white-crowned sparrows and other songbirds begin flying perhaps as much as 300 miles at night while staying active during the day. Their ability to navigate, avoid predators and find food in different locations while sleep-deprived is a mystery ..."
