Hi my Friends. This is my Grandson, born on Monday 26th July 2010.
Forgive me for not letting on his name, but i dont like to name the little ones on the internet.
The spectacular 20-metre-high sculpture, portraying the head of a girl with her eyes closed, is the artist's response to a brief developed through conversations with ex-miners and members of the wider local community. Dream is fabricated in pre-cast concrete, with a white, almost luminescent finish of white marble and concrete aggregate, in marked contrast to the black of the coal that still lies below.
"No, I'm not getting out of the box. If's comfy. I like it here. Christmas? What's that when it's at home? Comfy boxes have only one purpose, and that is to provide beds for cats. . . ." and so on. Well, actually she was just yawning, but I like to think she'd complain if she could.

As a final hurrah to my June visit to Huntington Beach State Park, I walked the causeway in hopes of photographing this Anhinga preening on the rice trunk gate (not sure of exact terminology). I didn't need to worry about scaring it. I encountered another individual that had been out there trying to photograph it. It wasn't being scared away by anyone and could care less!
I probably could have stayed there a long time and photographed it, but it had been a long and fun day of photography (and kayaking), so I was wearing down. I have more photos I hope to post of it in the future.
It was really neat to see it so close with all of the details.

This man was striding along the Mississippi. for a couple of bucks, he would do quite striking interpretation of jazz and blues classics.
I like this shot as it shows a bit of the dual soul of New Orleans. One of bustling culture and another of extreme poverty.
Today was an all right day, for a birthday. After the festivities of Sunday, I woke up feeling pretty on top of crap. Jeremy came to work with me and we had a bagel and then I sent him on his way back home. My co-worker bought me cupcakes. Liz and Shannon and Chris took me out for Indian food, then we watched My Super Sweet Sixteen until I'd sunk so low in bed as to be nearly asleep. Then I took this photo in my bad bedroom light, standing in front of the air mattress. I need a haircut, guys.
This is Lady. She is a rescue and super sweet. Lady's owner is also a lady. She's my super duper Tax Lady. It's nice to go get your taxes done and be able to pet a fluffy, loving dog while discussing how much money the IRS took out of your pocket. Makes it much less painful! Lady is a bit bored with my tax paperwork, however, but assures me I'll get a refund.
