The rear DPU of CSX train K634 leans into the curve as it makes its way through Blue Cut, near Lyons, NY. The train had a pair of KCS GE's for power, and was setup in a 1x1 configuration, allowing for this afternoon shot of an eastbound train.
BNSF 25th Anniversary unit BNSF 5869 (GE ES44AC) is on main 2 in downtown Memphis. The BNSF pair, BNSF 5498 (C44-9W) is the second unit, are running around their train that is the BN-NS transfer.
CP 8834 leads Chicago bound marine stack train #148 east across the swing bridge over the mouth of the Shuswap River at Sicamous, BC.
During the summer months, this bridge is constantly opening and closing for tourists navigating some of the over 200 rental houseboats that call the lake home in and out of the marina. The towns along Shuswap Lake swell in seasonal population as visitors mostly from the urban centers of British Columbia, and Alberta flock to the region for its warm temperatures, beaches, and watersports.
Until 2014, Sicamous was the junction with CP's Okanagan Subdivision branch line, which diverged south from the main just past the left edge of the image. CP leased the line to shortline operator Omnitrax in 1998. After the largest shipper on the line closed in 2008, the shortline folded. The right of way was sold to the regional district in 2014 for a rails to trails project.

Union Pacific ES44AC No. 5401 gets lettered, striped and “Scotchlited” inside the paint shop at the Downing B. Jenks Shop at North Little Rock, Arkansas, on May 18, 2015. Skilled workers like Carman Gary Dunlap carefully apply the flag decals seen on the side of UP’s newer locomotives. After application of each piece, he will go over the segments and burnish out bubbles and other minor surface imperfections that commonly show up with this process. With the massive size of a locomotive, one can easily overlook that the large Scotchlite flags have to be tediously cut to each engineroom door and around other impediments like hinges and latches.
This morning’s 35N starts around the corner out of Colburn, IN. In the lead is a GEVO I’ll always be willing to shoot, the Conrail. 35N runs from Conway, PA to Decatur, IL.
EN: With leading ES44AC 7423 a short UP train is leaving the steepest section of Tehachapi descent. The train is passing Ilmon and heads into a short single track section towards Bakersfield.

Eastbound CP run through intermodal Q166 travels through Conneaut, Ohio over CSX rails and passes the town's water town. ES44AC 9362 is on the head end with two AC4400's as midtrain DPU's.

Iowa Interstate GE ES44AC No. 507 powers eastbound train CBBI (Council Bluffs to Blue Island) while passing the Rock Island depot in Newton, Iowa, on February 25, 2025.

Led by an ES44AC and two GP38-2's, the Iowa Interstate's CBBI approaches Marengo, Iowa as they head east over the Newton Subdivision. The train is crossing over Big Bear Creek on an 1901 built truss bridge, though the eastern approach span has been replaced more recently with a concrete structure.

As the more interesting point of train 469 on January 2, 2021. UP 7389 has the position as the tail end remote of the 2-1-1 lash up of the variety mixed train taking the curves at Cowley on CP’s Crowsnest Subdivision.
The first of 10 specially painted BNSF 25th Anniversary locomotives was released from Mid-America Car in Kansas City, MO earlier this morning.
BNSF 6111 is a GE ES44AC that produces 4400 horsepower.
A repainted ES44AC (CN 2881) leads CN 305 as it departs Turcot Ouest on a freezing afternoon. It was wrecked in Louisiana in June 2020.

Back when I travelled a lot for work Highway 10 was one of my mainstays. This gave me a lot of chances to shoot the Staples Sub as it paralleled the highway for much of the trip down to the Twin Cities. According to my notes this was a COLX load I shot on my way to a meeting. That coal power looked a lot better back then.
Union Pacific GE ES44AC No. 5401 has just received a coat of Armour yellow paint in the paint shop at UP’s Downing B. Jenks Shop in North Little Rock, Arkansas, on May 18, 2015. Up next after a period of letting the paint dry is applying all lettering and striping. A protective film on the top surface of Scotchlite materials is kept in place, with many of the masking lines using the still-protected Scotchlite striping. After application of Harbor Mist gray, all masking and protective films are removed.
Still looking good nine years after its painting but in need of a bath, Norfolk Southern's Nickel Plate heritage locomotive leads train 16G through CP 102 in Macedonia, Ohio.

This ES44AC, still lettered for CP, was the first locomotive on the roster to receive paint for the newly-formed consolidation and is on display near CP 2816 for the Final Spike Tour to celebrate one year after the CPKC merger.

For the first time ever seeing potash loads taking the southward route of CP’s Aldersyde Subdivision, I made the short trip down to the De Winton area to grab a few shots of 613 in the late morning of June 5, 2022.
I believe this train came southward off of the Red Deer Sub, after taking the more northern route from the mines in Saskatchewan.

Yesterday's stint to Donner Pass was a touch disappointing. Thanks to bad timing and scant information, my friend and I missed seeing an all Norfolk Southern powered train on BNSF's Inside Gateway. Had to settle with a decent consolation prize, an NS ES44AC acting as the solo DPU on the eastbound ZLTG2. Here, the train is cruising east along the Truckee River east of Truckee, CA. Win some, lose some is always the story of the railfanning game I guess.

The train loaded at Axial Mine and is headed to the Tucson Electric Power station in Springerville, Arizona, via the BNSF from Pueblo.
