Lokomotiva společnosti Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) 8785 (ES44AC) na postrku nákladního obilného vlaku byla zachycena nedaleko městečka Field v provincii Britské Kolumbie. Nedaleko tohoto místa se nachází známá smyčka „Spiral Tunnel Viewpoint“ (zkuste vygooglit). V čele vlaku jsou pak stroje CP 8651 a CP 9554. Na pozadí sledujeme malou část pohoří Skalnatých hor, také známé jako Skalisté hory neboli Rocky Mountains – Rockies. Pohoří Rockies je dlouhé 4 830 km a táhne se na území USA a Kanady (přes provincie Britská Kolumbie a Alberta). Tato malá část na snímku se nachází v národním parku Yoho a sledujeme zde vrcholky hor Mount Deville (2924 m n. m.) a Mount King (2892 m n. m.). Snímek vznikl díky našemu přesunu během focení z národního parku Banff k řece Thompson u Kamloops.

Canadian Thanksgiving was this weekend meaning I had today off. After a hike in Burlington with the Mrs we headed up here for a couple of Westbounds, both of which did not disappoint.

Conrail heritage ES44AC #8098 leads eastbound 223 up and over the Missouri river at St. Charles, MO several hours before the fireworks begin. Must be my lucky summer (knock on wood); like the Lehigh Valley unit a couple weeks earlier, I hadn't seen this locomotive in a while, about 7 years.

Union Pacific ES44AC No. 5401 gets lettered, striped and “Scotchlited” inside the paint shop at the Downing B. Jenks Shop at North Little Rock, Arkansas, on May 18, 2015. Skilled workers like Carman Gary Dunlap carefully apply the flag decals seen on the side of UP’s newer locomotives. After application of each piece, he will go over the segments and burnish out bubbles and other minor surface imperfections that commonly show up with this process. With the massive size of a locomotive, one can easily overlook that the large Scotchlite flags have to be tediously cut to each engineroom door and around other impediments like hinges and latches.

Norfolk Southern ES44AC #8025 leads train #219 (Kansas City, MO - East Point, GA) through the crossovers at 'Jac Mac' just outside of Atlanta, GA. It took 11 years but this was the last of the NS heritage units I needed to shoot!

A pair of CSX GE's lead I138 as it crosses the the double track bridge over the Youghiogheny River into Versailles, Pennsylvania with a few autoracks on the head end of a long train of single stack intermodal cars. The bridge was built in 1968 by the P&LE Railroad during a track relocation project through McKeesport, with the bridge crossing from the original alignment to the new alignment on the opposite side of the river.

A pair of KCS GEVO's lead a grain train as they head south out of Kansas City, Missouri and soar across the concrete viaduct that spans East Gregory Boulevard. The downtown skyline can be faintly seen in the distance above the rear of the train, though shrouded in haze from wildfire smoke.

An ex CITI Rail ES44AC leads three sister GE's westbound on CN's Grande Prairie Subdivision. The crew will head to the large frac sand facility at Wembley, where they will set out there cut of loads and taxi back to Grande Prairie.

A BNSF eastbound manifest blasts out of a tunnel in the Columbia River Gorge east of Cooks, Washington. A 2013-built CREX ES44AC leads the train.

It’s always nice to be able to get new photo angles for a change.

EN: On the eastern ascend to Mullan pass two trestles have to be crossed. The lower one is Greenhorn Creek Viaduct ("Greenhorn Trestle"), situated a bit underneath Skyline siding. A Manifest train with locos in three different liveries climbes uphills.

With CSX's "Spirit of Our Armed Forces" unit ES44AC 1776 on the point, empty coal train E018 passes under the C&O cantilever at WD Cabin in Burnaugh, Kentucky as it begins its run down the Big Sandy Sub towards the mine. The crew was having a good time with the specially painted leader, letting the dispatcher know they had "General Patton and the Declaration of Independence" on board when coming on duty.

BNSF ES44AC 6052 is the DPU on a westbound grain train pulling into the siding at Bingen WA on a rainy day in the gorge, Sept 25 2020.

NS ES44AC 8060 is seen grinding upgrade with manifest 194 as it clears the eastbound signal Switchback, WV.

Led by GE ES44AC 7289 a huge manifest storms southbound into Seattle. The bulk, power and sheer presence of American railroads was shown off very well as this one headed south past Centennial Park.

Norfolk Southern loaded coal train 590 crosses over the Conemaugh River with the Conemaugh Dam in the background. At this location, the railroad crosses over the stone bridge of the original 1909 alignment of the Conemaugh Line, which was relocated in 1946 due to the building of the Dam.
