This is what happens when I try to take a shortcut home to make it in time for dinner and end up choosing the least safe route. Sammy and I almost became dinner ourselves!

"Everglow"is about the feeling of warmth or happiness that comes with the sadness you feel when you think about a relationship, situation, or friendship that has now ended or will do someday, but I truly believe that the seeds of love, hope and peace we plant in this world will follow us into the next and the end is not the end, but the beginning of something new; something beautiful and when we look back, we will see that what we have sown we will reap … “ - excerpt from a short story, “Goodbye to H” - AP

Dedicated to my dear friend, Julie who brought me back … you and your Mum are in my thoughts and prayers xx

EVERGLOW - COLDPLAY

The closer we look the more we find

each precious drop; a diamond from Heaven

each tiny thorn; a poignant reminder

that all have a purpose in this world of ours

sitting in my enchanted garden

a snail coiled beautifully next to me

his iridescent glowing colours

a reminder of life's constancy

overhead the wind blows softly

the pink quince flowers on the bowers

softly blushing against the blue

clear skies always a kind reminder

that Heaven is near and all around you

each step we take a subtleness settles

on gentle shoulders filled with love

your countenance like the beautiful flowers

you photograph; bring peace like a morning dove

no need to thank me for my words

it is I who should be thanking you

and I do my friend with all my heart

for it is your words that brought me back and through

you see the darkness had descended on me

a betrayal by a very close friend

and I could only find words of sadness

but you changed all that; with the words you sent

so here I am in my Heavenly garden

writing these words that you deserve

and praying for you and your dear beloved

mother who brought an angel here to earth

each day is a miracle; each moment a blessing

and no-one knows how our stories end

but while we are here, we should be kind and loving

just like you my sweet, caring friend

I suffered betrayal at the hands of another

but I won't lose hope; I keep open my heart

for an end is not the end of our story

we go on; we live; we love; we start

right back at the beginning

when innocence was bliss

like the first Spring flower on a misty morning

and the sweetness of our very first kiss

our journey in this life may draw to a close

but the suffering we learned from

like the very first rose

we overcame and we blossomed

we gave it our all

and this day hope resurfaced

and we didn't fall.

I don't really know where I went this morning. I saw a valley full of mist and plunged into it. I did find myself in a beautiful little place called Sheen and when I re-appeared on a larger road I was at a place called Hulme End. But I pulled over to catch these strange conditions. It was misty yet dull as if cloudy yet the sun was beaming through. The beauty of the little stone hamlet of Sheen was very much in my mind as a bullock wandered across the field to me as I took this shot. Somehow I couldn't escape the thought he was called Barry.

After the "Big" marriage of the B&M-MEC and D&H in the early 80's, the kaleidoscope of power and cabooses stretched from one end of the system to the other. This 1982 scene shows Guilford train NWLA eastbound from Buffalo, NY to Lawrence, MA that featured D&H bay window caboose 35722 bringing up the rear. This eastbound has successfully conquered the grade here in Gardner, MA and its downhill all the way to a crew change at Fitchburg. On Friday I took a group of work colleagues up Scafell Pike. Just like the rest of my summer hikes the weather was once more poor. The one chink in its armour was when I left the rest of them taking a breather by a shelter and took a detour to the summit of the Great End to check out the cliff top views. The triangular patch of water seen way below is Sprinkling Tarn and our ascent route via Grains Ghyll is seen to its right.

What a way to end a beautiful November day. Shirtsleeve temperatures all day and I took this photo standing in my bare feet on our front stoop.

This was really special because we seldom see what could really be termed a sunset, since we have a very high horizon.

This is my last photo until I get back from my trip to Utah and Colorado :)

Light at the end of the tunnel.

Out again today, this time in my local woodland.

Wet and very muddy underfoot but worth the effort and discomfort.

After hiking down to a primitive campsite and then on down to the shoreline below it on Lake Argyle, I began searching for fall colors and hoping for a beautiful sunset. The sky was cloudless, however, and the autumn colors were not abundant (primarily because of the large numbers of oak trees whose leaves turn brown rather than colorful). Also, the water level was higher than normal so I couldn't walk along the shoreline as I had in years past.

After taking some photos, the light began fading rapidly and I prepared to pack up and leave. Then, I heard the commotion of a flock of geese on the water further down the lake but I couldn't see them in the shadows. Hoping that they might head my way, I focused the camera (mounted on a tripod) on the oposite shore and waited a few moments. Then, when I realized they were headed towards me, I pressed the shutter release for a series of bracketed shots. I thought that I missed them... but luckily, the under-exposed shot (in which they were not blurred) caught the geese in the position shown here--and I was anxious to get home to see how it turned out.

I used Photomatix to create this HDR rendition. I have Aurora also but could not figure out how to select the ghosting replacement to use the image with the birds exposed properly... I suspect it is possible but I just don't know how yet.

Mike D.

Firstly, I'd just like to say a massive thank you for the continued support I have received over the past year from you guys who follow my stream, I can't stress enough how grateful I am for you guys!

I really mean it.

Your comments and messages never fail to make my day, it makes me feel like I'm doing something right?

So yeah, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!! :)

This photo is exactly why I don't smile in other ones haha, but its not the end.

I'm going to take a little break from regular uploads but I may just upload when I feel inspired, however when the time feels right I'm going to start a 52 week project like I've said before.

I just feel like with a 52 week project I'll be able to upload better content whilst also having time to focus on my uni work, as uni has been taking up most of my time, hence uploads not being their best! I've just been so busy!

but yeah, It's been a long and interesting year, and I've totally enjoyed it.

If I think back to myself a year ago, I'm so much prouder of myself now.

Cheers and take care! x
