This is a photograph of my friend Taylor. I used a softbox to illuminate her hand dramatically while the rest of her remains quite dark, appealing to a low-key style and making the shot more emotive overall.

The first image of a small photo series.
I've been recently inspired by some incredible long exposure black and white photography. The mood and emotions such images create, the lines and contrast they highlight are works of art in many cases.
This is my initial attempt to create such images.

As you can see the sea was rough and with a strong gusty wind created a very beautiful image from this dangerous viewpoint.
I used a Canon 5D Mark II and a Canon 17-35mm F2.8L lens and a Lee 3 stop hard ND grad and an inverted reversed 2 stop hard ND grad. Processed in photoshop CS5.
You never get the same shot twice and with the ever changing seascapes, Heybrook Bay is the location of choice for me.
Being up to your ankles in a strong moving sea literally keeps you on your toes!!
