The eastern indigo snake (Drymarchon couperi) is the longest snake in North America and can reach lengths of over eight feet. This large thick-bodied snake has a glossy blue-black color with scales that are iridescent in the sunlight. Once found throughout the coastal plain of the southeastern US, its current range is now limited mostly to southern Georgia and Florida. In 1978, the eastern indigo snake was listed as a threatened species and given protection under the Endangered Species Act.

Thank you everyone for the views, invites, awards, comments, and favs. Have a wonderful week.

The Eastern Phoebe is a loner, rarely coming in contact with other phoebes. Even members of a mated pair do not spend much time together. They may roost together early in pair formation, but even during egg laying the female frequently chases the male away from her.

An image taken earlier this week from an early morning hike of an Eastern Towhee. I chased this guy around a small tree patch for a few minutes before I was able to get a clear shot and in the end was able to capture him on a limb with a nice clean background. He must have been looking for the perfect spot to model for me :)

Thanks for viewing and have a great weekend!!

The beautiful Eastern Giant Swallowtail is a great addition to any garden and can be seen as far south as Venezuela. They are a large butterfly and definitely a thrill to see.

Wishing you a lovely and blessed day !!!

Something I didn’t know. This tree has been the home of a Eastern Screech Owl, Gray phase. I hadn’t seen him for a week or so. I went by on February 1st and found a red phase making it his home. Today February 3ed I went by to find the gray phase back in the tree again.

A walk along this beach at Musselroe Bay in northeastern Tasmania is lovely. The sound of seagulls is the loudest thing you'll usually hear, apart from when they start that speedboat. The water is safe and crystal clear, the perfect place for a swim in summer.
