Eastern newts dwell in wet forests with small lakes or ponds. They can coexist in an aquatic environment with fish, however, their skin secretes a poisonous substance when the newt is threatened or injured. They have a lifespan of 12 to 15 years in the wild, and may grow to 5 inches in length.. The strikingly colored (orange) juvenile stage, which is land-dwelling, is known as the "red eft".
The Australian Water Dragon (Physignathus lesueurii), which includes the Eastern Water Dragon (P. l. lesueurii) and the Gippsland Water Dragon (P. l. howittii), is an arboreal agamid species native to Eastern Australia from Victoria north to Queensland, there is also a small population in the south-east coast of the State of South Australia.
The favorite stomping grounds of John Muir, the Eastern Sierra is home to some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the country - jagged peaks, glacial lakes, rushing rivers, and huge aspen groves. Home to Mount Whitney, the tallest peak in the lower 48, and the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, the oldest living things on the planet.

The eastern gray kangaroo (Macropus giganteus (gigantic large-foot)) is the second largest kangaroo in Australia. Only the red kangaroo of central Australia is larger.
