For only being 27 miles long, the KCS Fort Smith Branch has several notable photo locations. One of the easiest to get to is the bridge here over the Poteau River, right next to the highway before the branch joins up with the mainline. (Being solo on this trip I passed on hiking into the other famous bridge, the curved wooden trestle over a swap outside of Cameron. Getting bitten by a copperhead in a swamp in Oklahoma isn't how I want to go.)

Easing across the river and up to the junction, the Fort Smith Dodger won't have any mainline traffic to delay them on this day. Once the conductor gets the switch back it will be a quick run to the tie-up at the Heavener yard.

With a 25 mph speed restriction, the westbound Southwest Chief snakes it's way down Raton Pass shortly after crossing into New Mexico from Colorado.

Working downgrade at Two Harbors is this Minntac pellet train behind four tunnel motors (408, 400, 903, 404). Fighting clouds and high sun but this set was worth the drive to intercept. It sounds like this same set went north this evening - in perfect light. Thanks to SW for the heads up.

There are lots of tiring things in life. I want to relax and not thinking about them. LOL Just daydreaming.

Last night I downloaded a copy of DxO Optics Pro to play around with and see whether it can replace Photoshop or whether it's a useful addition. It's too early to give my opinion as there are so many options to wade through and my PC seems to be struggling with the software. In this image I applied a number of corrections and filter options.

The subject is trapped in a cage, regardless that it is made of paper. An easy material to break through as seen through the tears in it. Even the lock and the shackles are made of paper aswell which as well can be broken with ease. But these are all obstacles the subject refuses to tackle so she therefore remains trapped with no will to break free of her boundaries.
