She ran a strong race and finished 2nd overall (women). It was an early season tuneup race, so none of the top girls was going full out. A tuneup for me as well, as I didnt have the camera settings in the proper mode. ugh - very frustrating - lack of clear focus due to not having auto-focus on constant or continuous mode; bad f-stop choice; wrong white balance setting; yuck...

CN 2513 rests tied up at Roberts Bank, BC after an afternoons worth of switching. The unit was brought in as power on a intermodal train but now resides at the port as a temporary yard unit.

66080 eases onto Harringworth Viaduct with the 6V92 10.34 Corby - Margam steel scrap and empties.

When I arrived the sheep were nicely positioned near the tufty grass, but they decided to shelter when the snow started.

The little robotic telescope Stellina has been fun and easy to use in Idaho Falls. I have been amazed at the images it has made even with city light pollution and a full moon. This is the Orion Nebula, M42 (70 exp, 6.4°, 41% rh, 11min 40sec exposure) and granted, M42 is an easy target but I was impressed with the ease of setup, targeting, and shooting! The images were aligned and stacked internally in Stellina and the resultant TIFF file was processed with Photomatix and PS.

One Osprey perched high in the branches above Horsepen Bayou. Not doing much hunting but keeping a watchful eye on that clown in the canoe and posing rather nicely as well.

View of a labeled, "Aladdin" brand "Magic Ease", asbestos iron rest with protective metal rim-edge and metal backing; approx. 11-in. H x 6-in. W (base) in basic shape of iron appliance. Made in U.S.A.

The asbestos material is similar to rigid millboard-type composition and shows its fibrous nature on closer inspection.

Imprinted labeling on the vintage iron rest's surface indicates "benefits" for using the "safety" asbestos product by Craftmade Products Co., division of Notion Accessories Mfgr's Inc., New York, New York.

A TBird eases into Fairlane Mine with BLE 909 in the lead. It's crazy how there are no gevos on the TBirds now. They dissapeared just like that and both power sets are EMDs.

An AC4400CW and an SD70ACe ease up to Block 224 on Main Track 1 of the joint BNSF Brookfield Sub-NS Kansas City District with a Tommy Hill empty, BNSF train E-THHNAM1-19A, headed for BNSF's Murray Yard for a crew change. On the right is a pair of admiral cab SD40-3 rebuilds tied down on Main Track 2 with NS train 181, which eventually will head across town for UP's 18tth St. Yard.

The yard off to the left is BNSF's 10th St. Yard, which handles traffic for a few industries in North KC. The elevator in the background belongs to Ingredion, the former National Starch plant. They're served by Watco's Kaw River Railroad, whose Bedford Yard is partly visible above the NS power. 8/21/22.

I am now at the stage where I can concentrate on focus and composition without worrying too much about Foxy’s teeth.

Even so, it is quite an awakening when I look up and he is only inches away……………

Enjoying the freedom!

On a beautiful Spring afternoon, UP train MTPTP-07 eases west under K-7 on Main Track 1 of the UP Kansas Sub as they work customers at Bonner Springs. They've just finished pulling and spotting the Buzzi Unicem USA ready mix plant, and now they're dragging the train a little farther down the main before working one more industry, the "Muffin Man", which is located off the lone remnant of the Ex-ATSF Leavenworth Branch.

To do make their move, they'll line themselves into the siding here at Bonner Springs off Main 1, make a cut on the main and come off with the head three hopper cars, which are their spots. They'll bring them into siding just clear of the main on the east end, run the power around and tie back onto their spot from the east. Then, they'll shove all the to industry at the west side of town.

This job operates out of Topeka, KS and serves all industries at Edwardsville on Main 2 and Bonner Spring on Main 1. Today, they only have one unit, a former Southern Pacific GP40-2 running long hood forward going west. It would have been nice if it were facing the other direction in good light, but at least it's Espee heritage is a little more apparent from this end. 4/7/25.

This fence is regularly being repaired, I assume that some people think it fun to cause such damage. the fence was pretty solid when it was erected 2 years ago, since then the horizontal slats have been destroyed as have some of the uprights. It is now made up of uprights that are falling over and strands of barbed wire, creating a wonky fence.

Enjoying life is easy at Tranøy lighthouse, where we spent the night. This self portrait is from last night, after spending a beautiful day driving and photographing by the sea and steep mountains.

After our first stay at the lighthouse two years ago, we knew that we had to come back soon - to take more photos, eat grilled stockfish again (which was just as delicious this time), enjoy the wonderful view towards the Lofoten wall and the midnight sun, and the sight and sound of common gulls with chicks, oystercatchers and large amount of terns around us, and the sight of all the eiders coming to rest right outside our window with all their chicks at night ツ

Now we are further north, in another county- where my boyfriend used to live for a couple of years. It's fun to see all the places and things that are familiar to him up here.

My album of self portraits here.
