Pan Am/CSX train BO-1 eases across Central and Lowell Street in Peabody, MA with cars for Rousellot. Rousellot announced their plans to close the plant by the end of 2023, which could mean an end to service on the Danvers Industrial Track.

It was one of those days on the water where everything seemed to go perfectly…...after I FINALLY made sure that the memory card was pushed ALL THE WAY into the slot. Couldn’t figure out what that strange symbol was in the lower left part of the viewfinder. There were a few shots wasted, but the rest of the day more than made up for it. One of my Tri-colored Heron buddies contemplating his next move as he perches on an old tree lodged in the mud on Horsepen Bayou.

After the encounter with the Great Blue, I decided it was time to stretch my legs and so I headed back to the pier in Bay Area Park. The Great Egrets are not noted for sticking around, but I was him perched on the floating dock and moved toward him as slowly as possible. Was surprised that he stayed put and was comfortable with my presence. He remained perched on one leg as I tied the canoe to the dock and was willing to do a bit of posing for me. On this day, there were more photos to be had in the park than on the bayou.

Love the expression on this fox's face, looks like it is relaxed and content in the frozen north slope of Alaska. The fox has a beautiful warm fur coat to keep it warm during the long winter months. During summer, this same fox will look skinny after shedding it's winter coat.
Apparently, when a robin or any other bird from what I've been told drops it's wings like this, it's totally at ease in it's surroundings. That makes it much easier to photograph and get close to.
the tawny frogmouth (Podargus strigoides)
Instead of stiffening up to its usual wood-like posture for camouflage, this male frogmouth has relaxed enough to start preening. Sitting immediately behind it on the same branch, not visible on this frame, is a female frogmouth.
Brown Pelicans are such large birds, I am so surprised that when I see them how graceful they are, Compared to a Turkey they are not far from being the same size, but when a wild turkey flys you think you are watching a train wreck.

One of our Texas Snowmen (they don’t melt in the Texas heat) is comfortable with my approach and seems at ease while I take my time lining up the capture. Snowy Egret captured taking it easy on Horsepen Bayou.

NSM's morning train that departed Babbitt around 0730 is nearing the end of its trip at Silver Bay as fresh snow blows in a stiff wind.
2nd choice for Macro Mondays Eraser theme. I used the big blue eraser as the blue backdrop for the yellow pencils.
Happy Textural Tuesday!
This Yellow-crowned Night Heron was resting comfortably in a tree above Armand Bayou and had trouble staying away as I photographed it.
If I carried my camera with me while I walked (not possible with a 200-600mm lens) I could have returned home with 6 or 7 shots of this particular species as they foraged in the drainage ditch. I don’t go into the ditch because of fears of snake. They will mow the grass, but I’m still not adventurous enough to slide through the grass to get the shot. I’ll eventually make my way to the bayou.
Hope everyone had a lovely day and hope you week ahead is a rewarding one.

For ODC-More White. I know this is BW, but the high-key process seems to call to the snow and fog.

Months that begin on a Sunday have a "Friday the 13th". I couldn't find any creepy or scary photos, but for a vole this Great Gray Owl getting ready to launch could be a very unlucky day...and on this particular day, it resulted in very bad luck for the vole (you likely don't want to see that photo).

By this time you may have guessed which park. Park Sołacki.
I like benches. A lot in fact. Empty or with people...doesn't matter. They always remind me to rest, take a second, to enjoy this....and I do. Isn't it interesting that a simple thing like a bench is the same the world over? Take a second today and enjoy a bench....you deserve it.
Often referred to in England as heartsease, the pansy has become a popular addition to garden beds and baskets. This one lives in a sunny spot near the entrance to one of my gardens.

I Most days I wake up with a pit in my chest
There are thoughts that I can't put to rest
There's a worry that I can't place
Most nights, I am restless and quiet won't come
So I lay there and wait for the sun
There's a trouble that won't show its face
You came out of nowhere
And you cut through all the noise
I make sense to the madness
When I listen to your voice
Darling, only you can ease my mind
Help me leave these lonely thoughts behind
When they pull me under,
And I can feel my sanity start to unwind
Darling, only you can ease my mind
