Wire wool escapades at Earls' Crag, aka the pinnacle. It's just on the West Yorkshire and Lancashire boarder. No doubt it's been a scene of many antics of students from South Craven School.
Very nearly started a moor fire as a large chunk of molten metal landed in the crisp, dry heather. Keen eyesight, quick reactions and a size 10 Adidas put paid to any unwanted notoriety for a fireman's son.
The 'Earl of Pembroke' is a wooden, three-masted barque. She is currently in Lowestoft's dry dock undergoing repairs.
Sorely missed AC electrics, 87029 passing Ansty with the 12.18 Milton Keynes -Wolverhampton.

Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway Beyer Peacock 0-6-0T no 822 The Earl awaiting departure from Welshpool Raven Square station.
Today Earl was doing ok although there is evidence of some nervous chewing going on. He did Meow hello as always, and took some treats from David. We did see now Earl also has a new cat 2 doors down - Ruby - who somewhat resembles Jake. Ruby is just laying at the bottom of her cage acclimating herself/himself (I did not see under the tail) to this environment. David lit a candle at Church yesterday for Earl.
A train of District Line R stock leaves for Ealing Broadway on 19 July 1979. This is the view from the walkway connecting the station to the exit at Warwick Road, over the road from the now closed exhibition centre.
Trains of replacement D stock would arrive in 1980, themselves now all withdrawn following the entry into service of S stock on the District Line from 2013.

LNER P2 60502 Earl Marischal departs York Station sometime in the mid 1950s, with all smoke depositing from the exhaust, looks like a rough departure. Also in the background is A4 60020 Guillemot..........
There's no GWR glint on Castle Class 4-6-0 No. 5043 'Earl of Mount Edgcumbe' hiding in the shadow of its own exhaust but the amazing sound shows it's no shrinking violet as it blasts away from Tebay towards Shap with the 'Coastal Explorer' on 19 September 2015.
The sheep seem to agree!
GWR Collett 'Castle' class 4-6-0 5047 ''Earl of Dartmouth'' reversing out of Paddington station, in the early-60s, and the fireman is high up on the tender - presumably pulling the coal forward..
The loco was originally ''Compton Castle'' when built in 1937, but was renamed a year later.. It was withdrawn in September 1962, and scrapped in March 1963.. Eight of the class have been preserved.
Today (2017) the imposing goods depot beyond the loco has gone, and these tracks are electrified..

A bit of a bonus shot of Earl of Merioneth at Coed y Bleiddiau Halt. People must have been staying at the newly restored cottage as a couple were on the small "platform" with their hands out to request the train to stop. It stopped and I got a more "focussed" view of the Earl.
The signal went up and No.3 arrived with the 6 to complete the train. Previously 20906 and before that 20219, when in BR ownership. Back in 1979 when I was out and about, as a rep, I recorded it on Dunfermline Townhill Shed on October 9th.
They used to run in pairs to Longannet Power Station.
